A very unimpressive meal today for breakfast. I've always loved PCG, but my service today was a little on the weak side, and my eggs benedict was very disappointing. The hollandaise was super thin and I could detect no taste to it at all. They no longer had the pork tenderloin benedict which is listed on their online menu, but without good hollandaise I doubt that would have been much of an improvement anyway. I think I will stick to dinner here in the future. read more

I've lived in Phoenix since 1997 and finally got to Phoenix City Grille. Great food, great atmosphere and service.

We parked in the back and came in through a section where you can see the kitchen. That was our first wow factor as not many places want you to see back there. It was clean! Busy Friday night so we sat at the bar. Service was fairly attentive. App came out super slow; bar staff was apologetic as they had a large party being served. Drinks were kept full throughout. We had the seabass($24) special and pork tenderloin($21). Absolutely phenomenal dishes. Ordered a side of fingerling potatoes ($5) and those were very dry/overcooked and came out so late. Our bar tender picked up the tab on those. Free dessert we had the torte ($8) and weren't disappointed. Total bill with one mixed drink was $68. Worth every penny. It seems dark and uppity at first but the music sounds like it's one of the kitchen staff's ipod, which we found amazing and definitely offset the first glance of high class diners. read more

Phoenix City Grill is a classic institution. Food has always been good and the service is great

Been wanting to come here for 20 years so did so today for happy hour. 1. The place looks real nice but that fly on my pepper shaker drew my attention. 2. bartender service was good, could have been better if they hadn't been so busy with chores like getting ice, and cleaning. There were 5 other workers at the entrance standing around talking and doing nothing. 3. Food here was $8 for a chicken enchilada which was the best I ever had, and the $4 grilled veggie which was OK I guess. 4. For some reason, happy hours that are on the weekend attracts the old geezers out of their retirement home and there were plenty with blue hair and men wearing shorts with sandals/long white socks. PLEASE! Too bad this place doesn't have a reverse later happy hour when real live people come out. 5. If you don't want to drive way over to Snotts-dale to eat, the area north of Camelback and Central has some good places to eat thanks to the million dollar homes around here. What a pleasant surprise. I selected PCG for a business dinner this week and all of us were thrilled with the meal, atmosphere and service. I tried the plank salmon which was wonderful. Two of us had meals that included the mashed potatoes with horseradish and agreed the flavor was excellent. I admit that as I approached the strip center on 16th street I wondered if I had made a mistake, only to be rewarded by my guests with compliments for the choice. I will return. read more

Love this restaurant! It's our first time in but would definitely come again...our waitress was wonderful. She helped us to choose the bacon wrapped shrimp as our appetizer, the shrimp are huge and absolutely delicious. We also had the crispy eggplant bites very good too. All 4 of us enjoyed our entrees...portions were perfect which left us room for dessert! We shared the bread pudding, the chocolate torte and the buttermilk pie all three were delicious. This is one of the few places I can go and almost everything on the menu looks and tastes delicious. The corn cakes and ribs are two of my favorites, but I have never been disappointed. Love PCG. We are what you would call regulars. We eat at PCG at least twice a week if not three and there is not a thing on the menu I do not like. Monday and Tuesday they have happy hour until close (u can't go wrong with that) $6 glass of Fess Parker and half priced bacon wrapped shrimp, yum. read more

My hubby and I love to go to PCG for our date nights. He introduced me to PCG when we were first dating. It's a romantic place if you're away from the bar. The pot roast is to die for and I even love the horseradish in the mashed potatoes...although I admit I had to try it a few times before it grew on me when they changed the recipe. Finish it off with the incredible Bread Pudding and you will be hooked. My hubby has had the salmon and chicken and really enjoyed those too. We always get the nicest servers. I went to PCG after not having been there for probably ten years. The atmosphere was definitely improved, but we had reservations and got seated at a really crappy table off by itself. (near the entrance , in front of the large picture window). There was a light overhead that was shining directly in my eyes, so between being seated in a section by ourselves, and the "interrogation" light, it was really disappointing. I had the pot roast which stated on the menu that it came with the mashed potatoes and "root vegetables". When my dinner was served to me, I started "rooting around" for the root vegetables. There were only two very undercooked baby carrots on top of the mashed potatoes (The menu states vegetables as in plural), well, I guess the mashed potatoes (which were cold when they arrived) are considered one of the root vegetables even though they are itemized separately in the description. It would be more accurate if the menu said," Served with mashed potatoes and carrots).....Anyway, I wouldn't recommend that particular dish to anyone , nor would I order it again. I also thought menu items were overpriced and not a very good value for the money. Had an outstanding dinner there in one of their private rooms with a group of 12. Food was outstanding! Service was excellent. Private room was quiet and had their own private bathroom. Such a disappointing meal....I had the Bethany Home salad, and although fresh and crispy, it was topped with slices of chicken lunch meat, NOT a grilled chicken breast by any means. I also had the Turkey Club. Again, it was cheap turkey lunch meat. This is not what I expected at a restaurant like this with these prices. Would have been okay at Subway, but not here. I was wanting beef short ribs, and PCG was the closest place. I've lived in this area for many years, but this was my first visit. The on-line menu said short ribs would be $21. I was a little disappointed to find the price is now $24. I doubt I will reorder at that price. They were just not that outstanding. read more

My fiancé took us here Saturday night for a dinner date. This was my first time coming to the restaurant. I got the half rack, BBQ baby pork ribs - side slaw, fries, cornbread. The ribs had a nice BBQ with a spice to the dry rub flavor. wine selection was from 7 daughters wine up to some wines from Paso Robles. The ambiance was dim lighting for mood setting. Wood floors, booths or tables. Smaller intimate restaurant, it's tucked in towards the side of the strip mall. You will only see it if you're looking for it or driving up northeast side. I would go back, our waitress was super sweet. Some of the best service I've received for a whole in a restaurant. You can see she is used to her regulars that all knew her well by name, yet with us she also welcomed us in and made us feel as if we could be regulars. I live close to this location and always drove by but never stopped as the parking lot was always filled. My GF and I were celebrating getting new jobs and so we came in for dinner. No regrets. Only wished we had come by earlier. Being Restaurant Week we came and had the 3 course dinner. I had the wedge salad, beef short ribs and the warm chocolate torte. My GF had the eggplant salad, salmon and bread pudding. Wow! Dinners were so good! My salad was really fresh, it was a wedge, with vinaigrette dressing one side and cream dressing on the other. It was a perfect starter, My GF had the eggplant salad which the eggplant was fried and crispy and topped with greens and that vinaigrette dressing. Delicious! The entrees were unbelievably so good! My beef short ribs was so tender and flavorful I was able to cut through with a fork. It came with mashed potatoes and a tasty sauce over. She had the salmon which was equally as tender and flavorful which came with beets. The third and final course was dessert. I had the warm chocolate torte with vanilla ice cream and my GF had the bread pudding. Perfect ending to perfect 3 course dinner. No complaints! Our bartender/server was David, very professional yet personable. Made sure we were comfortable and served our food promptly despite the restaurant/bar area getting crowded. My husband and I have frequented Phoenix City Grille since it opened about 16 years ago. The atmosphere and food has been consistently great, qualities we look for being from Chicago. PCG ranks as our #1 restaurant for any time dining due to these attributes. We generally sit in the bar area and find all the bartenders knowledgeable and friendly. Usually conversations occur with other patrons and we're always willing to make recommendations on appetizers and dishes we have loved for many years. Even after the owners remove an item from their delightful menu, we can still ask for a "version" of that item and PCG accommodates us. There's a great selection of wines and liquors and the bartenders' recommendations are most helpful. We enjoy brunch at PCG on Saturdays and Sundays because of the really pleasant atmosphere and super good food--rather it be on the brunch menu or just the regular menu. We never leave other than very satisfied. We are both "seniors" over 65 but feel like we're in our 30s at PCG! read more
