We returned here to one of our favorite big Chinatown restaurants with quite decent food and with the greatest convenience with their close-by and free parking and easy highway access. Most of our numerous past visits here have either been for dim sum or for a big wedding banquet. On this Saturday evening, our party of 8 enjoyed dinner on the first weekend after the Lunar New Year's Day. We had their set menu B for 8-10 people and for $468 pre-tax and pre-tip. Every one of the 8 courses was tip top excellent and delicious and we had plenty of leftovers as well. If interested, you can check the menu and food photos for the individual courses. The big restaurant was pretty busy and boisterous with two large groups, but our food came out readily and piping hot and fresh. Our servers were also good and attentive. I'll go with a 4 star rating with the only knock that the given menu was on the pricey side but also ok with us. read more

You win some when you dim sum!!! The service here was solid, and the food came out piping hot just the way you want it! The hot tea was fresh and flavorful, a great way to start. We did have to ask for the dim sum menu, but everything we ordered was absolutely worth it. A heads-up on the fried string beans: they come with pork, even though the picture didn't show any. Apparently, that's the standard, but I'm sure they'll likely make it without if you ask. The standout dish? Definitely the salt and pepper tofu. It might not have looked as picturesque as at other places, but flavor-wise, it was probably one of the best we've had! Also worth mentioning the place is spotless. You can see staff actively cleaning, which makes it feel extra welcoming and comfortable. My family and I came here for lunch on Christmas Day, and we were all very impressed! Our favorite spot in Chinatown had closed after decades of deliciousness, so we've been on the hunt for a new go-to. There were seven of us, and we were seated within about 5 minutes by incredibly friendly hostesses and greeted by equally friendly servers. The servers were always coming by to refill our waters, and quickly bringing us anything we requested. The restaurant was upstairs (there are elevators). It's a huge room, bustling with carts and people for dining with lots of chatter and big tables. We ordered a ton of items including beef chow fun, dry pan fried noodles, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, combo fried rice, spring rolls, honey walnut shrimp, chive and shrimp pan fried dumpling, beef and onion, pork and shrimp shumai, and beef funn rolls. The standout items for us were the beef funn, chive and shrimp pan fried dumplings, chow fun, and beef and onion (with the chilis). The dim sum was so fresh and so flavorful! Everything for the food came out so quickly, except for the walnut shrimp which came out around the time we finished eating (but we still ate it anyway!). We will 100% be back! Quantity of choices was enormous. Ample parking outside and near the side but had to look carefully. Wait staff was attentive and always came to fill my water glass. When we needed more steamed rice, the staff was quick to refill the bowl- good attentiveness! We had a party of ten so we all sat at one table. Not a cramped feeling and the ambience was nicely lit and decor was good. Food was tasty and left me wanting more. These were some of the dishes we had where some are traditional Chinese cuisine for dinner. Of course the standard American/Chinese flair similar to Panda Express is also available but there is so much more to try here. Being friends, being family, being your neighbors, this place is good. Solid dim sum spot that's adjacent to CHI's Chinatown. It's located in the 2nd Fl of the building, where you have to take a relatively creaky elevator up. The restaurant itself is very clean and spacious, and the staff are attentive. They don't push dim sum carts around, but instead, you have to denote the number of dishes you want for each dish on their menu. The restaurant is very organized with the dishes they bring out and everything is made to order! Their rice rolls are the perfect thickness - not too thick, and you're able to enjoy every aspect of the dish! Their dumplings, however, have a thicker skin than I prefer and the pieces stuck together when they were brought out, but the filling is delicious and makes up for it. As a New Yorker who grew up on its Chinatown dim sum, this CHI spot is not bad! Would def recommend to any locals looking for an authentic dim sum experience. read more

The thing about dim sum is you don't have to wait long. The food is there almost instantly. For the uninitiated dim sum(lunch only) is like Chinese tapas you get small portions of entrées and you have no fillers like starch unless you wanna order it. Also note this is outside of Chinatown. On the plus side they have their own parking(next door). For you suburbanites that should seal the deal. I rarely say this and you can check my other reviews but Everything is good. Exception are starch dishes or Congee. Still good mind you but they are meant to be base dishes. The dim sum is made to order and you can taste the difference. Horrible place. Just came here for a wedding event and asked for soy sauce. Flies EVERYWHERE!!! We poured the sauce out with flies coming out!!!!! Disgusting. This bottle was probably YEARS old. I cannot explain how upset and disgusted I am. They ignore that I asked to speak to a manager and continued to walk away. Once I told them about this bug issue they just took the bottle and brought us a new one, that still doesn't cover up the fact that our first bottle had a billion flies in it. Rude service!!! I hope there was a zero star review. Never been in a restaurant with such RUDE customer service. We made 15% tip but asked to make more and the manager said it is ok. During the entire meal, nobody ever stopped by. The water was forgot to be served, our cups were empty the entire meal. We had to wave any waiter near by every time when we needed something. We still left the 15% tips. A waiter came and asked for more tips!! We made another 7% "guilty tip" and reported this to their manager on duty. We got response that "Yes, their waiters can chase their customers for more tips if they only received 15%, because 15% is a tip for buffer place, and plus more tips is what everyone want!" I hope I have recorded the conversation. I can't believe I heard that from a manager's mouth. We were completely shocked. I visited that restaurant before, the business was much better than the day we went. They may under a new management, something is wrong with them, don't risk yourself. My music group went to the New Furama Restaurant South on Wentworth after a performance last Sunday. There were 24 of us. We'd originally made reservations for 15. ooops! The Manager was great at changing the set-up for our bigger group. She was also very kind about our request for separate checks. The food was delicious, especially try their Crab Rangoon--it was fabulous. All of us were delighted with the food, their staff and the way they made sure that everything was to our satisfaction. I just loved the lighting, space and that the tables were not on top of one another like most places. Food: oh where do I begin: we started off with a plate that had duck, bbq beef, pork belly and veggies. Couldn't get enough of the delicious pork belly with veggies and some hot oil (I'm still drooling and this was over a week ago). There were about 9 entrees so I'm going off memory of my favorites. Sea bass was oh so good along with the breaded crab balls. The orange chicken and birds nest are at the top of my list with the lobster and noodles. I for once in my life have no complaints. Other than breaking my heel on the way in but that was all my fault. More embarrassed than anything :( I didn't take pictures and I'm so upset by this. I take pictures of EVERYTHING and dropped the ball because I kept thinking everyone was looking at my broken heel. Not the traditional push cart dim sum but paper order dim sum. Came on a Saturday at noon with a large party and there was no wait. The restaurant is very spacious and looks recently remodeled. The ladies here were all so sweet, made us feel like we were visiting them at their homes lol. They made recommendations, kept our teas and water filled, and checked on us often...rare for a Chinese restaurant. We ordered over $200 of dim sum and everything was served hot and tasted excellent. They even had some of my childhood favorites that you just don't see anymore. Btw duck dumpling?!?! I've had dim sum for over 40 years and never seen this before so we tried it and loved it! If you pay cash, you let them know ahead of time and they will give you a 10% discount. Everything is expensive nowadays so don't expect it to be cheap. Parking is free and plenty of space and you can stop by the Chinese grocery store underneath. We always go to Furama when we crave for dim sum. Absolutely delicious! The shrimp dumplings fell apart and were stuck together and the chicken feet was one of the worst I have had. The feet were bland, not tender, and such a small portion. The shrimp and chive dumpling is not the typical one you see at other places. The chicken steamed bao had hardly any filling. The hot sauce was not hot at all.
