My new favorite vegan spot in the city!! I don't know why there aren't more vegan restaurants, but I am SO grateful for Phonobar! The food is creatively wonderful. We had the jackfruit crab cakes, empananda, BBQ vegan mac n' cheese, and blueberry cheesecake (!!!). All were incredible and would order again. Pass on the passionfruit lemonade and go for the virgin mojito instead (tasted like regular lemonade). Would love to see a few more creative mocktails on the list, but that's a small aside. Everyone, stop what you're doing and read THIS review of phonobar. Yes, It's another SF bar, but what puts this place over the top is OM SABOR taking over the kitchen. OM SABOR used to be a pop up, offering a few tickets each event to their dining experience. And they'd sell out so fast, I never got the chance to try it. ENTER PHONOBAR: Om SABOR is here to stay for now, offering the most amazing vegan food I've ever had (vegan for 7 years now). Yes, my non vegan partner loved it just as much, if not More!! I came here on a Tuesday night and it was... surprisingly busy! It was hard to flag down a bartender, but once we did, service was great. The drinks were well-made and their tequila concoctions were my favorite-- my friends and I ordered several Bitter Moon cocktails, which I think were the best. Dark ambiance and clean design were very welcome. Everything felt curated without being pretentious. The seating is ample and I loved how many places there were to sit and lounge, including the picnic table-style seating outside. I'll be coming back. read more

Phonobar has transformed and revitalized this bar. It used to be empty but now it is a hot popular spot for Hayes Valley craft cocktails, wine and a date. Ok! Let's start off that I've been wanting to try this place is soo long! I've heard amazing things about the food and the authentic flavors this place has! And let me tell you I am not disappointed at all!!! This place is a must-have!! either vegan or not! Show this place some love as the food is just amazing! Couldn't have enough of it! The Menudo was amazing! Haven't had Menudo in soo long that it just blew my mind to have it again! The tacos were also good the texture and flavors made every bite count!! I came here to have the BBQ wings too , unfortunately they were not on the menu but our server & kitchen made it happen for us that we were pleased by them! And the French toast was the bomb! Not too rich in flavor or sweetness it was just perfect and the fruit that came with it was also fresh and delicious!! for dessert we had the Lavender Bundt Cake which was just right to fill up our bellies! Came here for an event but will definitely be back to grab a drink to see what it's like on a regular night. It was a strange venue for a disco themed dance party because it has a really relaxed and cute atmosphere. It's not really a club/dance floor feel. There are a high top tables to sit at near the entrance and a room in the back with additional seating. The music was good and it was dimly lit. Drinks were average price for San Francisco. I had a beer but the cocktails looked good and there was a large wine list. Next time I am in Hayes valley I will swing by. read more

Incredible food to go with excellent drinks, friendly expert service. We like to get there early, before it gets crowded. This place is really unique - you'll find no other food like this. The phone wasn't the right one and when I send him a email he reply yes but no more confirmation. I send a few more emails to confirm day and time but he never replied. Hats off and thank you so much to the staff of PHONOBAR!!!! My husband and I were walking along casually looking at PHONOBAR and suddenly my husband tripped and fell face down on the sidewalk near the corner of the street. We came back to PHONOBAR and sat on the bench outside, my husbands face bleeding, and both of us traumatized. The staff came out and gave us ice, paper towels, and one tall male came with a first aide kit. He wiped my husband's cuts with alcohol ever so gently but effectively, and put some bandages on the worst abrasions. We were exceedingly impressed with the caring staff and the skill they exhibited on strangers! We can imagine how wonderful their food and drink must be with the care and attention they give. I was not at all impressed with this bar. The cocktails were mediocre at best, and the bartenders didn't seem to know how to make some of the drinks on the menu. It's a narrow space in the front with a larger back area and a small stage for a DJ. I couldn't help but feel like the place needed a good scrub down, especially the bathroom. I would give 10 stars if I could. My friend and I came here looking for a quick drink while we hang out. The lady comes up to us to let us order. I order a Moscow mule and then my friend tried to order an AMF but they said they don't make that. He wanted something else but they didn't make that either. He found the drink he wanted and then we were both waiting for our drinks until the owner came up to us. He encouraged us to order something from his cocktail menu. I actually found the encounter a little rude because while doing so he put us on the spot in front of the whole restaurant (but there weren't many people). However, his just had a strong personality that people might be offended by but you should not be offended because he means no harm. We give in and order from the cocktail menu. This was a while ago so I can't remember what we ordered but once we received our cocktails..... they were absolutely AMAZING. The best drinks I have ever in my life tasted. After tasting it, I knew why he was so passionate about his drinks. He comes to our table again and I told him how I felt about our first encounter and he let us have two shots and the first round of cocktails for free. We didn't pull out any money that night. This is what a real business owner does. He invested money in his costumers and I will continue to come here and tell all my friends about this place. What a cosy chill bar bang in the middle of the Hayes valley!! Really, really like the vibe of this place. We made a pretty last minute decision to celebrate NYE here, and didn't regret it one bit! The cover was $20 (not bad at all) and they gave us 2 free champagne glasses per person which was quite good. The bartender and the hostess were super sweet too! They had a couple of appetizers too. The DJ was alright, but we did not have great expectations to begin with, so all's good! They have a dance floor too, but what I loved is that it was not in the middle of the bar but in a separate room, so folks can enjoy the best of both - mingling as well as dancing! Close at 9:30. Bartenders don't know how to make the drinks. Had a sazerac , the two bartenders kept sniffing it before they sent it out. Probably half bitters it was pink in color! . Was horrible. $30 for two drinks. I will save my money and make them at home. Music is horrible. We went here around 11 pm on a Saturday night. There were some people there, but we easily found seats at the bar. However, despite the fact the bar was not all that busy, it seemed to take a long time for us to get our drinks. In fact when we asked the bartender to make us a drink, the first drink she claimed she didn't have the ingredients for, then she didn't know what the second drink we were ordered was despite the fact that it was on the menu. Then she made the first drink. When we finally got our drinks, they were a bit week and overloaded on Juice. Came by here to see a DJ I liked. The venue is a cool and small venue with a back room. Although it was typical cool night in SF, the back room was over 90 degrees and was pretty rough. Also, the sound system is not loud enough for a "club" type venue. I brought earplugs, but for sure did not need them.
