I'm really shocked at how low this place is rated. I understand that it's not cheap but nothing at the airport is. My husband and I had a good experience here recently. We snagged some seats at the bar, since it was busy and there was a wait for tables (it was a weekday afternoon). I really liked the layout of this place, and the bar area was clean when we sat down. The bartender was busy, but attentive and there when you needed him. We both ordered beers and decided to order the soft pub pretzels too. We were both surprised to see two large pretzels come out which made it seem like more of a deal. They were hot, fresh and pretty tasty. I have been here many times. Today was not a great experience. I bar was packed, the server was working alone. (Travis) he is working his butt off! There was a guy that came with me at the same time you did she ordered the cheese curds and she got that right away... after about 30 minutes I have to buy my food. Travis told me when I get it. It'll be in front of me... that's not very nice. Another lady came in and sat down and she had her food within 10 minutes.. I believe Travis forgot to put in my order in. Travis never asked if I wanted a refill. Travis also seemed a little bit uptight at the fact that he was shorthanded... He was rude . Then he had the nerve to tell me I was following throughout the bar. I asked another server if she could check on my order and she said she had her hands full with her own stuff, Which is not a response that you give to someone. I'm sad to say, I have to agree with the reviews. If I'd checked them first I would have known that both the wait for a table & service are on the slower side. I also may have avoided purchasing the pretzel bites. Comforting beer snacks are a must for a spot named PHX Beer Company. Similar to wings and fries or fish and chips, pretzels and beer cheese fit the brief, however, this version left a lot to be desired. I noticed PHX Beer Co when arriving to Phoenix. The concept seemed popular, so I made a mental note to grab a beer as well as some pretzels and beer cheese before I headed back to Houston, and I did just that. I started the experience with a long line wait and plenty of empty tables, proceeded to an unstable and wobbly table, and finished with a significant wait to be followed by incredibly dried out pretzel bites sat on a messy plate. I can't speak to the mustard, but the cheese would have been aight if it was slathered on a burger or given any other properly prepared food pairing. From there, I decided to head to another spot for the rest of my meal. To be fair, my waiter was great and the restaurant seemed understaffed contributing to the majority of the problems. That being said, I hope they continue to push for success because the concept is fitting, the atmosphere is right and the servers very sweet. I'd be happy to give them another try on another trip...just avoiding the pretzels and beer cheese next time around. read more

Sky Harbor Airport: Pleasant Morning Stop Stopped into PHX Beer Co. at Sky Harbor in the morning while looking for a simple breakfast, and it turned out to be a solid choice. I ordered the oatmeal, which was surprisingly good--loaded with fresh fruit / nuts and was exactly what I needed before a flight. The coffee was great too. The service started off a bit cold, but to their credit, they warmed up as things went along. The environment inside is very basic, but for an airport spot with lots of people coming and going, it was relatively quiet. Definitely worth getting to the airport a little early! Perfect location for us next to our gate with comfortable tables and great atmosphere. I'm always happy to try local beer when experiencing a lengthy layover or arriving to my flight early. I got to Sky Harbor a couple of hours early and this was right by my gate. I sat at the bar and started looking the beer menu over. A man (who looked like a brewery guy) sat about 5 minutes after I did, and the bartended headed straight to him and got his order. He then walked off and came back to see what I wanted (not sure why the beer looking dude - who didn't even order beer - was assisted first and also conversed with a lot more friendly than I was, but okay.) The first two beers I ordered were out of stocks - okay, supply issues, sure, maybe.... So I ordered something else. I was hoping to try one of their award winners, so I ordered the Gold. What I received was good. I didn't order food or anything, I was just enjoying the atmosphere. Staff seemed to loosen up and got a little more chatty, probably once learning I actually know beer and mentioned GABF and other beer events with the couple who sat next to me). I then ordered another beer in the same category. Bartender told me that was actually what I was drinking because he didn't have the gold....... but he did offer another beer for the second one which was good. Ran about $15 a pint, but that's airline pricing for you. So..... good beer for what I could get - although wasn't told he didn't have what I ordered, a bartender who seemed to brush me off until he could deduct I knew more about beer than he thought , and an overall nice environment. But next time I'm in the area, I'll head to the actual brewery and skip trying more beer in this location. read more

The joy ends there, as you sample some of the only food available near your gate because you thought you would starve if you wait 3 whole hours until you're home. They have decently cooked hamburgers that taste like year-old Sam's Club patties. I ordered avocado because i saw slices on the menu. It's actually a paste. Don't risk your health or taste buds on this add-on. I was disappointed that they don't have a salad (over fries), so I ordered the coleslaw. The bright side of the awfully plain slaw, is that it's so bland that it's almost like a salad. Let's call that #winning-ish Eat here if you must. I read the reviews while munching on fries and had to double check if I was in the same place. I am and yet my experience is drastically different. I am seated at the bar. Yes, it did take a bit for some time for an employee to wave at me and beckon me over. That was the only weird part but I was seated at the bar at the very end. I ordered the BLAT and a skinny margarita. The BLAT was wonderful. Yes, it is a smashed avocado but for a BLAT I liked it. It helped keep the tomatoes on place. It was so good! The fries, that I am currently eating, are perfect. They are really tasty!! And Heather was amazing! Hard working and very attentive. When I tried to pay with a fifty-dollar bill, the waiter said they couldn't break it and refused to serve me. His rude and quick refusal was disappointing. This service at this place reminded me of a deserted gas station more than an airport watering hole. Airports should offer good service to travelers, but this place missed the mark. Homer Simpson once said, "To alcohol! The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems." Sadly, this restaurant failed at both beer service and customer service. Overall, this was a disappointing experience for me. I might try again in a couple of weeks, but for now, I'd recommend others to avoid this place at all cost. A staff member tells me it is a service charge because I left my card open, but failed to order my next drink quickly enough! You cannot make this stuff up. But, if you help yourself and head for an empty seat at the bar or an empty table, the bartender yells at you to get out and back in the line no server is focused on. My breakfast sandwich was really good. It was big with a good balance of ingredients. Service was lacking however. It wasn't busy but our server pretty much ignored us, quite possibly because we were in the front section. Was it worth the $35?
