The food, the food, the food! Had the Thursday night burger special and it was delicious! Best burger I've had in quite some time. I asked for medium, and it was medium! The wife asked for medium rare and got medium rare! Also one of us ordered the fish tacos, she said they were perfect and she couldn't wait to come back for more. Service was also amazing. Our server was attentive and checked on us regularly. My wife had a white sangria and I had the pale ale, I tried and enjoyed both! I truly hate to leave bad reviews, mostly when it's about local places, because I love supporting local entrepreneurship...but I hate more to be completely ignored when I'm a paying customer. So let's start... I have been eyeballing this new location and following Phyre on social media because I really love their uniqueness, yet I'd never had the chance to personally pay a visit. We came down for the monthly market, and I'd told my husband so much about this place he pushed for us to finish our evening in downtown here. We really wanted outside but everything was taken; So we walked in right around 6pm, and I believe it was the manager at the host stand whom took a little minute to greet us while having a conversation with somebody else. My husband said hi to start some kind of engagement yet we never received a response, so much, I made my husband the comment "Super friendly here". He then just asked "for two?" and immediately took us to a table near the restrooms. Ok, here's where it gets pretty! We saw at least 4 servers running around at a not-so-busy restaurant (steady I would say), yet we were walked by and never acknowledged. After about 10 min we have a male server tell us he'd be right with us. By the way at this point a 5-top was sat behind us, greeted, and received water service. We never got a drink menu, and we wanted to see what they had available for us to pick from. When we finally gets water and an initial greet (15min now) he asked us if we knew what we wanted to drink... well we didn't have a drink menu... so no...but we knew our apps. He apologized and pulled a dirty drink menu (grease finger prints on it and unsanitized from previous table) from a neighboring table with customers, for us to look at. We went for a bottle of wine... at that point he should have known we were going to be a good table for him. Ordered the Complicated Pinot Noir ($32) plus apps. Minutes go by, no bottle... I mean it's as easy as getting from the bar right? Well NO! He came back with no bottle to tell us they did not have it available. So we changed to Charles and Charles Red Blend ($29), so less expensive... lowering your check average. He said he had to go check on that being available, and then he spent the next 5-10min pre-bussing and clearing the table in front of us, and then disappeared in the kitchen to come back with the entrées for the table behind us that had ordered them literally less than 5 minutes before we ordered our first bottle of wine. At this point my husband got enraged and said let's go! I mean... 25-30min and no drinks and no apps? I think there's a problem there! He wanted to just get up and leave but I wanted to STILL have the courtesy to let him know to cancel our order... Which I shouldn't have, because when I did he just responded: "Oh. Are you sure? Ok!"; which of course made my husband even more irate from the lack of an attempt to recover all the ball drops! Needless to day, we had such a bad time that we don't think we'll ever be back! By 6:50pm we were back in our car and by 7:30pm we were back home with Bella Roma pizza! read more

Wife and I have visited a number of times, first let me say staff and owners care about their customers, quality of service and meals. Brews are just pure quality. Remodel is absolutely beautiful, couple of things that could improve, when busy, wait can be lengthy and the patio with the misters call me crazy but food cools off quickly. We were so excited to know there was a steakhouse in town just to be so disappointed. Filet was not cooked to temperature desired and our server was quick to respond with, "That was the best he (chef) could do." Seriously?! You call yourself a steakhouse with prices reflective of a fine steakhouse and no one knows how to accommodate a "black & blue"? Why take the order and set yourselves up for failure and extremely disappointed customers? Our server had no clue about cooking points but checked with chef and said he knew what Black & Blue was. Checked out this place while we were in St. Cloud. Service was quick, beer was really good (Beautiful Disaster house brew), and food was exceptional (pork sliders & phyre burger, both with fries). We would definitely return again for the food. It was HOT, too. We really appreciated that. My only complaint is the decor. It's supposed to be a 'speakeasy' according to the name, but don't come here if you're expecting a bookshelf door with secret password that opens to an illustrious bar area. You'll be disappointed. The decor is tacky, wrinkled curtains on the stage area, 4 different chandelier styles, low budget hanging fake crystal. Kind of screams 'identity crisis'/quickly slapped together with lack of concept. If you want good food/brews, though...highly recommend. read more

This used to be my favorite place in town but unfortunately the quality has lacked greatly. I used to love to order the deep sea shrimp and grits, but after many attempts with fails I am sad to say I am not ordering food from this place again. The shrimp and scallops were chewy and the sauce which makes it or breaks it for this particular dish was too watery and lacked flavor, I had to add salt! I have given this dish too many re attempts and this last attempt was my final decision to just let it be. Also, we ordered the tuna nachos as an appetizer and the tuna didn't taste fresh, it was obvious that we left more than half of it and waiter never asked if everything was ok. My husband ordered mahi tacos that were not good, and he also left half the dish as well. Needless to say I went home sick and spent all night throwing up. I am disappointed that the quality has diminished greatly. They still have my favorite drink "our fashioned " but unfortunately for food I will make sure I eat before I go next time. My husband and I visited this restaurant on a day date. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the atmosphere. Our waiter was very nice. The restaurant wasn't very busy but we waited a while for our food. Needless to say everything was delicious from the appetizers to the entrees. The menu was pretty limited. I was interested in trying the lamb which has been out of stock for a while. Let's start by thanking YELP! for reminding me that we are amidst a pandemic and that businesses are doing their best to stay afloat. This is exactly the reason for this review. My GF and I decided to go to Phyre on a Thursday night to support a local business, have a few drinks, and enjoy ourselves. We did neither of those things. Walked in, no host or hostess, which is usually a sign of seat yourself. While looking for a table one of the waiters looked our way but did not acknowledge our presence; we were looking for "hey, thanks for coming in, we'll be right with you guys". Nope. Sensing some awkwardness, we went to the back, towards what we believe was a taproom (small and overcrowded, but we kind of liked the vibe for a Thursday night). No seats at the bar, but everyone was super chatty and doing their thing, cool. Again tho, 3 bartenders(?) and we stood there for several minutes and not 1 single person said a thing. I think I was expecting a "hey, what can we get ya?!?!" Nope, nothing. Oddest 5 minutes of my life. Maybe I'll try again, when I know the "rules(?)" of the place. Maybe there's a secret password to get service. It is a so-called speakeasy after all. Oh, and the two stars was because the atmosphere was nice and people did seem to be enjoying themselves. We ordered our steak medium rare, the steak came to us WELL done. The server acted like she didn't know what we were talking about and we had to fight for it to be remade. We didn't eat a single bite for 10 minutes after cutting into it and no one came around to even check. They ended up remaking the order but the way it was handled put a bad taste in our mouths. Came here for lunch and we were very surprised! The staff was so friendly and attentive! We ordered a Phyre burger (which was fire!) and a buffalo chicken sandwich which was also amazing! The fries were easily some of the best I've ever had. I also tried one of their craft brews (citrus ale) and it was very refreshing :). Decided to try it again Thus time didn't sit next to the kitchen but there were a couple instances when a server past by and we got a wif of the detergent or cleaner.....no big deal. Water tasted like it was fresh from the gutter. Maybe it was from a rain water barrel!? Had burgers and half of our party loved them, the other half didn't care for the smoke flavor. So I think I'll leave my rating as it stands, a 3 is the best I can give. Probably won't be going back..... read more
