If I could give it more stars, I would. We made a reservation for 12; 6 children and 6 adults. As it happened, we were late and the staff were 100% alright with it. They were waiting by the door for us as we arrived and we're so nice and attentive. Our waiter, Carlo was absolutely beautiful. He was attentive and able to explain the menu and the wine list perfectly. The owner Marco was also there and was wonderful. It was my grandmother's 70th birthday and the staff went above and beyond. The food: There was a quesadilla-esque prosciutto, arugula, and one of the creamiest cheeses I've ever had. Many specials one of which was delicious pappardelle was similar to a bolognese. Technically it was a ragú. We also had the taglierini with porcini. It had a little bit of a kick to it, but wasn't too spicy. It was devine as well. The TIRAMISU is to die for! Please try it. Overall the staff was wonderful and attentive. They brought over a special birthday cheesecake with a candle and sang without us asking at all. We stopped here for lunch as we had a few hours to kill before we left the city. The outdoor seating was great- perfect to people watch and relax with a book. The staff was very friendly and extremely polite. Our order came super quick. As all the ingredients were fresh, the pizza was delicious. It was a personal size pizza which we finished rather quickly. Knowing we'd be eating our way through the city though, this hit the spot. I would also be interested in trying their pizza next time, they looked great and are baked in a brick oven. Sister and I came here for dinner. The service was great and the grilled calamari is worth going back for more. We had great red wine suggestions made by our waiter. Taglierini Porcini e Tartufo (truffle pasta) tasted pretty awesome, however, the noodles we a pretty undercooked-- I tasted my sister's because the gnocchi I ordered was sub par. We sat outside on the patio which was nice, but as nice as our waiter was, he kept forgetting about us. Not sure if it was because we were on the end of the patio or maybe because it was so busy he has much more important customers to tend to inside. I dunno. He apologized after we waited about 20 minutes to get the bill after we reminded him. The only reason I would go back is for that grilled calamari and only if they promised to throughly cook the delicious Taglierini Porcini e Tartufo. I think if they cook the truffle pasta a bit longer, put some flavor on that gnocchi, and not forget about us patio seated folks, the experience could be better. read more

Last year we ate here for our anniversary and it was some of the best Italian food we had. I was in town again and tried Yelp's delivery service to my hotel. I ordered the Orecchiette & the Arugula and Pear salad. The food was extremely tasteless with no flavor and they didn't provide utensils, nor bread or salt/pepper (which it desperately needed). Not worth $30+ not including tax, tip and delivery. Very disappointing. Maybe I should have ordered the pizza. read more

My husband and I came here when the Feast of San Gennero was just too crazy, and we were so happy we did! Interesting place! An Italian restaurant located in Chinatown. I guess being next to Little Italy is the next best thing than being in Little Italy. Unfortunately the location is not in the best part of town. The walk from my hotel was a little dicey and the streets surrounding the restaurant smelled awful. Still the restaurant ambiance was nice. I've eaten at many Italian restaurants during my time in NYC. Not yet have I had pizza as good as Piacere. I had a delicious Napoletana Pizza with olives and anchovies which is a personal favorite dish of mine. I've had very few as good in my whole life, let alone any in New York City. The staff is personable, quick, and very helpful. The atmosphere is also excellent as it rests in a perfect location in lower Manhattan. It has a nice ambiance that is great for a date night, fun with friends, or even the isolation of a meal unto yourself. It's perfect for any time and I would happily go back any time anyone wants to try a great pizza at a good price. There are many options on the menu and the diversity of the pizza is refreshing. Many restaurants I've been to lately in NYC have the standard fare and, while Piacere does have those, it has many others. Not to mention, it has this incredible olive oil which is spiced well and makes the wheat crust and dough especially tasty. One other thing also is their selection of wines, beer, and the courtesy of the waitstaff of the bar. They will offer you friendly banter should you ask for it, or leave you be if that's more your style. I was surprised by how well my experience went because I've had pizza at so many Manhattan restaurants that just weren't up to par. Certainly, there isn't a thing I can think would make Piacere better than it is. Perhaps only the prospect of delivery so I can eat their food more regularly! If you've not yet tried Piacere you owe it to yourself to give it a shot, try out their menu, and if I might be so bold, order the Napoletana Pizza! It is making me hungry just thinking about it. Indeed, this is one of Manhattan's best restaurants and it receives my highest commendation. Five stars well deserved! read more
