Piazza Italia - Lake Nona Okay, I don't usually write long reviews but this place genuinely deserves it. I've been to my fair share of Italian spots around Orlando and honestly most of them are just... fine. Piazza Italia is different. The moment you try their pizza you just get it. The crust alone tells you everything -- it's got that perfect chew, slightly crispy on the edges, soft in the middle. It tastes authentic in a way that's hard to fake and most places don't even come close. But honestly? The garlic cheese bread is what really got me. I wasn't even expecting much -- garlic bread is garlic bread, right? Wrong. This is hands down one of the best I've had in all of Florida. I don't know what they're doing differently but whatever it is, please never stop. I was eating it way too fast and had zero shame about it. Oh, and I have this little habit before I commit to leaving a good review -- I always check how the pizza reheats the next day. Because that's where a lot of places fall apart. Not Piazza Italia. Reheated beautifully, crust held up, still tasted fresh. That's how you know the quality is actually there. This place is the real deal. Authentic, delicious, and somehow the garlic cheese bread still has me thinking about it days later. Definitely coming back and definitely ordering more of that bread.

If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine, this is the place to go. From the pasta to the sangria, everything is delicious. I'm a huge lover of their gnocchi, chicken parmigiana, and shrimp alfredo. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance also reminds me of my childhood, as one of the owners sings from the kitchen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] His singing in Italian makes you feel like you're eating a meal in someone's Italian kitchen. It's an overall great dining experience every single time.

Piazza Italia Lake Nona is good. We went last night. They start you off with bread service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's an open kitchen, we heard the chefs singing in Italian.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hubby ordered the the lobster ravioli with Shrimp. It was very good. There were 5 large lobster stuffed raviolis and 4 shrimp. I think it was $32. Wish there was more that came with the dish like 8 ravioli, for the price. We also ordered the garlic bread and added the cheese on it (extra $2). My son ordered the Stromboli, I think he wishes he could have picked what was inside it, he isn't a fan of peppers. Service was good, food was good, and it came out hot. I think this place is over looked. Give it a try!

We go here regularly. Food has excellent flavor and service is good except when very busy. The one thing that's not good is portion size which is small and not really enough for the prices being charged.

So close to my house and yet never been until now! A friend of mine suggested it and I am so glad we came. Close to Nona blue and right next to Menchie's. Place is cute! Was seated right away and our waitress Juliana and was so sweet. Everyone in there seems to be from Italy! I love that they were singing and talking to each other in Italian. I got a glass of Chianti, price was very reasonable ($9) and it was really good. We started with the pear Gorgonzola salad, it was refreshing and so good. For entree we ordered the classic margarita pizza (delicious also), and the lobster and shrimp ravioli, oh my god, these are so good. For dessert we shared the profiterole, also amazing! Overall what an amazing dinner, great food and service.

Terrible pizza. Very soggy and wet and a lot of red sauce. Kids did not like it despite that they were super hungry. We tried the pizza also and 3 adults agreed that this is the worst pizza ever ! Alfredo past below average too ! NOT RECOMMENDED

Holy cow this place is incredible! I came with my friends who live in the area and eat here once a week. I was not disappointed. The staff is so friendly and recognized my friends when we walked in. There is a family vibe through the entire place. The Chef is a women and who I assume is the mother of the team here. Everyone was so nice and hustling to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was to die for. I ordered the June special which is a slow cooked short rib and meatball rigatoni. While we waited we ordered the garlic bread with cheese. It was AMAZING! Then when one margarita pizza and rigatoni arrived I was in heaven. The most perfectly prepared pizza in my life. To add to the experience the short rib melted off the bone and into my mouth. An unforgettable culinary experience. I will be back as soon as possible!

***UPDATE: Their cannelloni is AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Fresh homemade pasta that you can taste!!! The quality is very evident. The tomato sauce is perfect! This just blew it out of the park!!! I ate the whole dish- and I'm still craving more. Soooooo good!!!!!! Can't wait to try their other pasta dishes ! My favorite go to Italian spot in lake Nona. It's kind of hidden in the back of a plaza - but it's a hidden gem for lake Nona. We generally get it delivered - I always get their Margherita pizza - the dough is perfect, their tomato sauce is wonderful, and the fresh mozz with basil perfects this. If you go for dinner to sit in- I highly recommend the chicken parm - it's also a huge dish too! The owners are super cool- usually the first to greet you as you walk in. Reminds me of home in jersey. Best Italian around, hands down read more

I have eaten here many times before Covid-19. Food is always good. Ordered take out Sunday night and prepaid for dinner when ordering online. When I went inside to pick up the food I saw a gentleman wearing a face shield but no mask. That means very little protection. Another gentleman was making pizzas with his mask covering on his mouth only. He wasn't wearing gloves. I had seen enough until I saw a 3rd employee come from the back with a mask only covering his mouth. Some of the earlier reviews said restaurant was maintaining Covid-19 protocol. The year of the crazy Yelp reviews continues. We got a tip from some friends who live around the corner that this place was doing great things during The Rona and we decided to give them a shot. Then we gave them another shot. Then we gave them another and another. We've never eaten here in person, but have done take away and delivery. We look forward to eating here at this mess is over. They a great job of packing your food. It is hot and fresh and tasty. We've had about a dozen items from here now and are glad they are regular part of our COVID dining options. We've liked almost every item and had some great meals. read more

My wife and I love Italian food and decided to give this restaurant a try. We're big fettuccine alfredo fans and with that said, we both ordered two dishes and added chicken. I ordered one beer. Our daughter decided to get a 10 inch pepperoni pizza. Staff was very nice throughout and service was fast and efficient. The restaurant is located in a cute plaza near the famous Nona Blue restaurant (which we love). The interior is very nice, clean and welcoming. The pasta dishes were good. Nothing out of this world. Our daughter's pizza was actually better. Although we wish the crust was a bit more firm. The reasoning for the 3 stars is because of sticker shock. For two pastas dishes w/chicken, one beer and a small pizza the check came out to $80. It was $10 to add chicken to each pasta dish. It wasn't even a full serving of chicken. Maybe half a chicken breast for each of us? $20 for just chicken was absurd. No wonder the add on pricing wasn't on the menu. I do understand that prices have gone up to dine out everywhere, but this just didn't seem like reasonable pricing, especially for the quality. In hindsight, we probably should have asked how much it was to add the chicken, but we'd never imagine it would cost that much. I'd like to reiterate that the service was very good and our waitress was amazing. But unfortunately, for the price, we'd rather dine at a place like Christinis Ristorante Italiano. read more

Piazza Italia is one of my favorite restaurants! The staff and owners are always super nice and friendly. The pizza is always a 10/10, and I LOVE the bruschetta appetizer. I always recommend this place for authentic Italian! Come on a good night and you might catch Emilio, the owner, singing Italian songs. Great environment and great food. read more

In full disclosure, I have several favorite Italian restaurants in the world. They're in Europe. This restaurant is the closest I've found to those wonderful cafes and restaurants. So what makes this little restaurant so close to that experience? First of all, there's a lot of attention to detail. The bread that is served at the table is made in house, and it has the kind of crust you only get from the master bakers in Europe. Crunchy exterior that melts away to the pillowy soft center. Another plus: the olive oil on the table is much higher quality than what you get at the grocery store. Neopolitan pizza done with the best ingredients? Absolutely. The only place I'll cheat and get a pie in Orlando. Just amazing crust with that right combination of crispiness and flavor. I highly recommend the diablo pizza. The salami is such a great combination with the tomato base and the fresh mozzarella. Another suggestion: the pastas. Their sauces...man, now I'm getting hungry. They're so well done. The thing I like about my favorite Italian spots in Europe is how unfussy they are. Uncomplicated. That's what these sauces are. Want an Alfredo sauce? This is the place to taste what it's supposed to taste like, not the overly salted, overly spiced versions we see everywhere. Simple. Full of flavor. We haven't had a bad meal from this place yet. On a separate note, the people at this restaurant are a family, and they'll treat you that way. They know you. They actually care about you. On the night I had to put my father on life support, I went to this restaurant to simply have some comfort food. On my way in the door, they asked where my dad was, since he's usually with me. I won't bore you with the details of my epic meltdown, but these people treated me like I was one of their own. There's a reason it's a beloved spot in Lake Nona. read more

Authentic italian restaurant with delicious pizza each time I visited. The ingredients on the pizza are fresh and on point in combination. I forgot the name of the pizza I ordered but it was the one with the ham,artichoke,olives and such. Portion were good size and the price is decent. The staff were really friendly and service were good! I didn't have to wait long each time even at peak dinner time. It's ambience is really nice yet doesn't take away that friendly neighborhood restaurant feeling. Would recommend to anyone who's in lake Nona area! read more

If you're looking for authentic Italian in Lake Nona (or are willing to travel), Piazza Italia is the spot! Not convinced? The staff sometimes answers the phone in Italian by accident and apologize and switch back to English. They are all extremely pleasant and take pride in all of the dishes they serve, both the on menu staples and the hidden specials that change every time I dine here. If you're looking for an "old reliable," I personally love the burrata (sometimes they have a truffle burrata that is remarkable), and the Parmense pizza - arugula, olive oil, fresh mozzarella, and prosciutto. Visiting here is a no-brainer. Great local small business that is a beautiful taste of authentic Italian cuisine. read more

Sooooo bad. Just got delivery from here and it was just plain awful. DoorDash got there quickly so that's a plus. They were nice on the phone so that's another plus BUT the food was dreadful. Pizza was just ok. The crust was so chewy that I needed to cut with a knife. The chicken... so rubbery. It was as if it was boiled. It was also a tiny chicken breast, no seasoning and inedible. The sauce had half an artichoke heart. The caprese salad was burrata on the reviews but when we got it was just four tiny slivers of mozzarella. Overall experience was just bad. Very disappointed that this is what people consider good Italian food. read more

Avoid the chicken marsala. Just order it as carry out. The chicken is a plain slab and over boiled. The Marsala sauce was very watery. Truly awful. Not what you would expect from an Italian restaurant. I do not recommend. read more

This place is so cute. Such a great place to enjoy an authentic Italian meal or just enjoy cup of cappuccino ( which by the way was good) & dessert. Our server was so helpful in helping us choose a great authentic pizza & appetizers. Their ingredients are fresh !! The fried calamari , the bruschetta pizza toppings ( great pizza btw ) Everything was so good ! Then comes the dessert-- carrot cheese cake .. omg amazing and I'm not a carrot cake eater. Came out warm and the cheese cake between the carrot cake was heavenly. Definitely will be back ! read more

I've driven past this spot so many times and I'm not sure why I never stopped in before! I was craving Italian but am not a big fan of the other Italian restaurants in Lake Nona. A quick search sent me here and I'm so glad that I came in! It wasn't too crowded for a Saturday evening and we were sat right away. We started with a yummy prosciutto burrata salad and some Chianti. They have a list of house wines by the glass which makes the selection easy to choose from! I went with the manicotti for my entree and it did not disappoint! My husband enjoyed his lasagna as well. I was going to leave 4 stars because it was a genuinely good food experience - but the service we received made it absolutely worthy of 5 stars! Everyone we interacted with was so friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be coming back here! read more

Way overpriced for decent pizza. I ordered 2 large pies and the total was $70+. Call me cheap all you want but I could never comprehend paying $70+ on 2 large pizzas. I don't care how and where it's made. That's ridiculous and the pizza wasn't even great . It wasn't bad but at that price, I was expecting to have top 5 pizza I've ever had. read more

Ordered a take out Supreme pizza for $21. Pizza was pretty soggy and not crunchy as we requested. Also, it was not cut all the way through. Perhaps I should have dined in to get a better result. The atmosphere and employees were wonderful, so I will give them another try just maybe not the pizza. read more

This pizza place was 40 minutes away from us but so worth the drive. We ordered so many different pizzas and they all were really really good. The dough is fluffy and chewy and the Buffalo mozzarella was delicious. The service was amazing, a worker insisted to help me to my car which was very kind. Inside is a nice sit-down restaurant with a nice vibe. We will be back! read more

Went in for a early Mother's day celebration. Michael was our server, off the chart. This is a totally original restaurant. We had the Margherita pizza, the sauce was totally smooth tasting with big pieces of cheese, the dough was very thin and cooked in a wood fire oven. The Bolognese was delicious, huge servings. Had a ton meat with their great sauce. Also there was great Italian bread cooked in the oven with olive oil. I could definitely eat a loaf of it. The word is definitely out that this is real authentic Italian food. They do take reservations. read more

What a great surprise. We happened in a d discovered a diamond in the rough. What looks like a typical strip mall pizzeria is actually an authentic Napoli style restaurant. The pizzas are heavenly but was everything else we had that made it sensational. The Crudo di Parma is a must have appetizer. The carciofi & parmigiana is an amazing salad. The desserts, if you have room, looked fantastic, especially the Tiramisu. Don't let the exterior fool you. This is an excellent Italian restaurant. read more

TL;DR- At least the salad was good... I wasn't impressed by this place. Not for the Lake Nona prices they charge. Granted, it was the 2nd day of business, so I'm taking that into consideration. Our server was clearly new to serving. She asked us to point to the items on the menu that we were ordering, as she was still learning the menu. She also wasn't able to answer basic questions. I asked what came with the paninis. She said nothing came on the side. False: it turns out that it comes with a small portion of salad. It doesn't help that none of this is listed on the menu. I decided on the short rib, which sounded really good. A few minutes later we were told that they were out of short rib (I suspect they never had any). So I settled on calamari and a Mediterranean salad. The menu mentioned that the salad came with house dressing, which I asked for on the side. When she brought the salad she said that the 'house dressing' was the bottles of oil and vinegar that were on the table for the bread. That's not house dressing. She said the only other dressing was balsamic vinegar. Thankfully my friend noted that they serve Caesar salad, so they should have Caesar dressing (which I happen to like). Whew! The calamari was disappointing. The cuts were the most beautiful I'd ever seen. But the calamari was overcooked, robbing it of its flavor. Even though tiramisu or crème brûlée is usually my go to if having dessert, we went for cannolis for a "lighter" option. Very good as well. The last one the list is ambiance. I unfortunately did not take pictures of the food before I began devouring everything in sight to the point of near-collapse, but I will do a quick rundown of the buffet highlights: The best meats were the fajita steak, chicken, and shrimp made fresh in cast iron skillets, as well as the chicken lengua which was super flavorful and tender. The mexican rice, beans, fajitas, plantains, and street corn were also excellent. Fresh quesadillas, chips, and corn tortillas on standby with homemade queso and salsas. The flan and mini churros were the best I've ever had. Super rich, decadent Carmel flan. Mini churros hot and crisp on the outside, filled with a gooey soft milk chocolate center. They were delicious. Items that were disappointing: the tamales, mini chicken flautas, and beef chimichangas were just okay, lacking the seasoning and flavor that other dishes had. The beef barbacoa was not as tender or flavorful as the shredded chicken surprisingly. The mixed seafood was itself a mixed bag with some shrimps / scallops overcooked to much while others were perfectly cooked. The chicken mole and beef tri tip were room temperature despite sitting on hot plates. The tri tip also varied widely in doneness throughout the slices and not super tender. The rice pudding was pretty standard, and the tres leches cake was weird as they crumbled the cake into pieces before soaking it.

The place is elegantly decorated with an Asian theme. However, some of the benches attached to the booths had worn out upholstery. Our server, Yumi (spelling?) was polite and efficient. We had the salt and pepper squid appetizer. It was plentiful and great with the accompanying sauce. However, we didn't like the breading. And I dared to bite into one of the peppers that accompanied it and it set my mouth on fire. For dinner we had the Szechuan scallops and the XO fish. The scallops were tasty and the dish had lots of broccoli, peppers, and mushrooms. The sauce was a bit sweeter than we expected. The XO fish sauce was very similar to the Szechuan sauce and though the fish was a tad salty, it was still savory. The asparagus that accompanied that dish was chopped (easier to eat) and there were plenty of sweet snap peas and bell peppers. We adore snow pea tips and were in the mood for lots of veggies. So, we got an order to accompany our meals. We did take home most of it, along with lots of broccoli (for me) from the Szechuan scallops. We were treated to a complimentary Chinese-style dessert made with peeled split mung beans and thickened with tapioca starch into a gooey, translucent pudding that was served warm. Our meal of 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 1 order of veggies, a pot of tea, tax, and tip was $138.

Every time we come to this fabulous restaurant, we feel as if we are home. The food is nothing short of spectacular, there is truly no wrong choice. From pizzas to pasta or even steak everything is amazing, the flavors are always on point. Finishing off with a homemade dessert truly wraps up the experience. They are all delicious. Having the owners and staff be super attentive really makes for an enjoyable time. They sing, check up on every table, and make sure nothing is missing. Great customer service. Very disappointed. I typically order their pizza as it is high quality and attempted to venture to something new. Big mistake. I ordered the lasagna, which was 17 dollars with no side. I get home and open the tiny Togo box and see a tiny piece of what looks like should be on a kids menu for 8 dollars. It was three layers of pasta with hardly anything in between. I bite into it and there is almost nothing inside. Sad to say I feel like I was robbed. I will not be ordering from here again. read more

I should have reviewed this a long time ago. Always a great dinner in a great small privately owned authentic Italian restaurant. The special is always outstanding. We have never had any dish or pizza that wasn't excellent. It is so nice to have a top quality Italian place nearby. The portions are just right. You won't need a doggie bag for most plates. I don't mind paying more for quality. And quality is clearly abundant. read more

We came here after having a challenging day. I had the Lasagna and my wife had the eggplant Parmesan. Both were delicious. The server was gracious and friendly and the ambiance was classy but not stuffy. For desert we had the tiramisu and cappuccino. Overall the experience was awesome. We highly recommend this place.
