Chicken donair plate with pistachio baklava
    Cecilia M.

My colleague and I were talking about Turkey and all the food we still dream of back there and she suggested going across the street to Picado. I thought it was just a pizza joint but they are a Turkish eatery that serves local style pizza (Turkey has its own version of its own pizza), donair wraps, donair plates, and baklava. For those missing Turkey as much as I am, they also serve Turkish tea and coffee - yum! I ordered the chicken donair plate. The menu said it comes with spiced rice but it actually was just plain rice. You do get to pick the sides but was disappointed they didn't really have hummus plus the corn niblets they had were still frozen with ice bits on them. However, the portion of the plate was good. The donair plate was decent but the outstanding item is the pistachio baklava - brings back fond memories of me eating baklava with apple tea on a near nightly basis in Turkey.

Looks like Goldie's (pizza place) has died and reincarnated into this Middle Eastern style pizza/cafe/donair place. Basically it picked up a ME flavour. Parking here is awful. Try coming after 2200. The staff were friendly but rather clueless. The girl behind the counter couldn't explain half the items (what's a Turkish tea? What's a PiCaDo?), which made it rather difficult to try anything out of the ordinary. I settled for a regular coffee. Then the staff told me they had no cream. When I told them that was impossible for a coffee shop, they gave me a blank look. 10 minutes later (and after I already started drinking my coffee), they figured out what cream was and sent a tiny container of it over to my seat. I get that English may not be their first language, but this kind of basic information would be rather important in terms of serving their customers. Knock 1 star off. Just like with the previous incarnation, there is a main seating area by the windows, but also a secret hidden room in the dungeon/basement. The seating down there is quite out of place. The furniture almost feels like something out of a castle, with the large long tables and the vintage armchair style furniture. Also the tables were wobbly. Buddy had to keep his weight on the table the entire time so it wouldn't suddenly flop and send our coffees flying. The product was half decent, but honestly the experience left some things to be desired. Not sure if I'd come back to be honest. Maybe for takeout coffee at best.

I actually was not going to go to this restaurant BUT I walked by and saw the lady through the window making the most delicious looking sandwich; so I changed my plans and went in to order. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I ordered the As Always Donair with chicken and beef. It was delicious! So fresh and flavorful! I'll be back

They have a big tv above the bar and above the entrance that was showing the hockey game. It's a small storefront entrance on a busy street but you couldn't hear the street noise. The food was AMAZING. We got the goat biryani, chicken tikka masala, samosas, garlic naan, mango lassi and a hot chai. Big delicious portions of everything. The service was ok, they were busy and potentially less attentive than usual. Anyway, would definitely go back again.

However it is not focused and instead provides a little bit of the region for everyone (Nepal, China, India, Pakistani influences). Came in for lunch on a weekday. Quickly seated and tended to by the staff. Interior is more of a diner scene than nice cafe. Bathrooms are gender neutral and clean but not nice. Here's my three things: 1) I got a lunch special featuring fish peckora, and tandoor chicken. Good flavor but missed on the real spice flavors. Veg salad was sour and worked with the rest of the plate. 2) These folks can make some NAAN! The Naan stole the show. Sweet, salty and crisp. 3) Price wise you can fill up and have a drink for $25-30CAN.

A very tiny yet highly acclaimed restaurant in Vancouver near Yaletown-Roundhouse SkyTrain station…read more We stumbled upon this place while walking right at opening, so we got first pick at one of the 3 tables for dine-in. Definitely try to go at opening or when it is not busy, as the dine-in experience is memorable - they place your order in a long wooden board to make it a beautiful spread. We got the Manoush'eh Special which has ground beef, pomegranate, etc and Sham Style which is shaped like a boat. We also tried the yogurt drink which pairs well with the dishes. The only con is that this place does not have free water, but it is no problem to have our own water bottles supplementing the meal. We also got the lentil soup which is pretty good. Definitely sufficient to share one to try, but the Manoush'eh outshines the rest of the items. I loved the quality and texture of the Manoush'eh and just the breads in general. It is a lot of food for 2 people so if you want a snack, you can definitely just share 1. Some people go here for the wraps too. Overall, an affordable restaurant with good food. We got the most expensive items and it was less than 50 CAD all-in, but a lot of the items are around the 10 CAD mark.

No other concern other than the road noise. We were a party of three - 2 adults and one 5-year old toddler. We ordered 4 things - 1. Mantu - very good but expensive for 4 dumplings 2, Chicken Shami Kebab - Comes with super soft buttery naan bread, Melt in the mouth kebabs and possibly the best kebab of my life. My son loved it and primarily ate most of it. 3. Uzbeki Palaw - Very good but the rice to meat ratio could be disappointing. 4. One cocktail and it was very good, very ethnically inspired. Everything was amazing. Portion sizes are small and we finished everything. Our server was so warm and advised visiting during brunch hours the next time to enjoy more kebabs given we likes it the best. Other tips! 1. Service is fairly quick. We were in and out within the hour. 2. There is street parking but finding a spot may still be challenging at any point. There is parking in the building but when we visited, the entrance to it was not working. 3. Reservations are highly recommended for weekends to be seated inside which is very chic and upscale. 4. Menu is pretty kid friendly food and none of the food was remotely spicy.
