Better than leftovers on Thanksgiving Saturday

Returned to PB last night and John and his team delivered a very memorable evening. Warmed rolls with pesto and butter were so delish on a cold evening. Our appt were delicious and our group shared. The waitress complied and tweaked one of their specials to franchise the jumbo shrimp instead of scampi. Not every restaurant can master a delicate risotto but PB nailed it. Very reasonable check considering the quality and cost of seafood these days. We will return sooner rather than later Michele O

Returned to this lovely, quaint establishment last evening with friends. Had not dined here in two years therefore we were delighted to return. It was a perfect Monday evening dinner. We sat outside with our bottles of wine - BYOB. The owner, John, took care of us the entire evening along with the rest of the tables. He was quick, nonstop and just great! We ordered a few specials including the sirloin with glazed mushrooms, mashed potatoes and veggies. It was delightful! We also tried the risotto with scallops -my absolute favorite dish of the evening!! We had the chicken dish again (forgot the name) but it was oh-so-tasty! We were there for a small bday dinner and John was extremely generous and provided us with a complimentary chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. It was huge and absolutely delicious!! The ambience, weather, seating, cleanliness and service was outstanding! Will most definitely return again and again! Oh they provided complimentary warm bread with olive oil, pesto and basil? We devoured that as well! Thanks for a wonderful evening John and an extra thanks for not kicking us out even though we sat there chatting and laughing after your closing time.

This is BYOB, it has Nice outdoor seating area that is covered and has fresh greenery. The owner was attentive to our table, brought out a wine bucket for keep our wine chilled. The service was good. It took awhile for our bread to come but when to did it was warm and served with a seasoned dipping oil. Apps- polenta with mushrooms and artichokes was tasty. Dinner- chicken parm was thin and crispy and served with pasta. The halibut special was served with a glaze that had green grapes in it. I was curious to try it and I'm glad I did. It was a sweet and savory dish. The chicken saltimbocca was a little dry and the sauce was bland. The last dish our table had was the special pappardelle with chicken dish served with a spinach and sundried tomato sauce which was tasty but just need a little salt.

We made a reservation for NYE night at 5:30. We were sat immediately and noticed that only a few other tables were filled. There was a host, 1 server and 1 food runner. We sat with the menus for a while before the server took our order. We ordered our appetizer and entrees at the same time. Warm bread and oil came out and then we were ignored for the approximately 35 minutes it took for our appetizer to come out. We had to ask for a bucket of ice for our wine bottle. It is BYOB. I overheard you can get wine delivered from a local shop. Everyone is friendly enough, but seem way too laid back about service. Just 3 people handling the front of house, especially on a holiday was wild. The place filled quickly while we were there and no other help arrived. Our entrees took a while to come out once she took our appetizer plate away. They kept saying no to walk-ins, but then backing down and saying that they could only order an entree and had to leave quickly. I feel like their food was prioritized over ours to get them out quickly. I watched another table get sat for their reservation and they waited over 15 minutes to even get menus! The food was very good and well prepared. The lava cake was a bit dry, but the creamy vanilla ice cream saved the dish. We had cappuccinos with dessert and they were delicious. If you bring a few bottles of wine, good company and have an open schedule, the food is worth checking out.

We had the gnocci cacio de Pepe and the squid ink pasta. Overall a very nice dinner. It is the perfect little byob restaurant for a quick dinner or night out.

After a walk about downtown Ridgewood, we wandered in to Piccolo Bistro and so glad we did! The food was Ah-mazing! Perfectly flavored and portioned sized. The salad was fresh as if the leaves and vegetables were just picked! The chicken Parmigiana and Francese were paired with the right amounts of sauces and was so delicious! This was my first visit to this restaurant and will certainly come back. The staff is friendly and there is light musical notes humming in the background while we sat out door in the warm summer air of the evening.

Fantastic BYOB cozy relaxed home-style place. Great food, comfortable atmosphere and perfect level of service. I ordered the codfish special and it was delicious. The other items we ordered were also very good. Warm bread with herbed olive oil to start, nice sweet and sour salad and then the entrees. No room for dessert but they sound great!

Situated in Ridgewood near the train station in a nice Bergen County community. Parking is a bit tough, so be prepared to walk a couple blocks. The venue is a bit old and outdated inside. Although we dined indoors it looks like outdoor dining in good weather could be pleasant . The menu was somewhat uneventful. Our group tried a bunch of different items which mostly stood out as OK at best The chicken Parm might have been the best, but would have expected one of the pastas to take the number one spot. Polite and attentive servers made the experience much more tolerable. The octopus appetizer with chickpeas and quinoa sounded great, but should've passed. The antipasto appetizer was a couple pieces of sliced meat, mozzarella, artichoke, and some sliced olives, and tomatoes for garnish. However, reasonably priced, and a BYOB in a nice active area of town. Our server was great and it was easy to get a reservation.

I tried a bit of the éclair and we both agreed that it was the star of the show. I normally am not a big éclair person but this one was so chocolatey and rich. It was filled with this creamy, fresh chocolate filling. I strongly dislike the store bought cream filling that they are usually piped with. Have to say the flavors at maroons are very impressive whether you get soft serve or hard ice cream you will not be disappointed. We got the pistachio and butter pecan. You can tell the genuine homemade ice cream consistency by the ice cream and most if not all flavors are gluten free and have no food coloring which is so hard to find nowadays. It definitely gets crazy on weekends now that the warmer weather is out and the portions a bit oversized but you will love whatever you end up ordering! Given how late it was the store wasn't too packed. Service was very friendly and the staff offered to have us sample the ice cream flavors. My friend and I opted for ice cream served in bubble waffles and the staff member informed me it would take a while because since it was so close to closing they only had 1 waffle maker going. They have such a wide variety of flavors so I'm sure you'll find something you like. I got a kulfi sundae and was very pleased with the how creamy it was. The bubble waffle was nice and fresh too. I tried my friends' ice creams and they were just as good. The place is spacious and clean. I could see myself coming back. Bonus points for having a clean bathroom.

If I hadn't looked them up, I would have never guessed that they were a chain. As expected, we were the only ice cream craving knuckleheads walking in on a 50 degree weekday, but on the plus side we had this cozy ice cream shop all...to...ourselves! We were greeted by an employee who walked out from the back and she presented us with the menu on an iPad since the TV screens above the counter were not operating. To sum up their menu - they specialize in mostly Asian-inspired soft serve ice cream creations that are instagram-worthy. Sure, you'll probably want to take 47 pictures of whatever you order, but the pictures really don't do the delicious ice cream justice. We ended up ordering one of their "Floteas", which is basically a bubble tea topped with a beautiful tower of soft serve ice cream. Specifically, we got the Taro Bubble Tea & Matcha/Taro Swirled Ice Cream, but there were multiple other flavors we EASILY could have been swayed towards. Not knowing just how gargantuan the Flotea would be, we decided to also order the Nom Nom Cookie Signature Mason Jar, which consist of Monster Cookie Ice Cream, Chocolate Crunch, Chocolate Syrup, Cookie Crisp, Marshmallows, and Oreos. Once again, another monstrosity of an ice cream order that could be shared by 2-3 ice cream lovers. Honestly, considering that the prices were around $10-$11 for just about everything on the menu, we should have knew that we were about to find out where every penny of that money went to. Let's just say, we loved, I mean, loveeeeed the ice cream. I especially was infatuated with our Flotea, mainly because I have had a major lifetime crush (if I can describe it that way) on soft serve ice cream and they made it to perfection here. Of course, it didn't hurt that the ice cream happened to be a matcha/taro swirl, which are 2 of my all-time favorite flavors. In addition, they also had Earl Grey Vanilla, Vietnamese Iced Coffee and a combo of both - did anyone say heaven? As for the Nom Nom Cookie jar, excellent. Unfortunately, we were stuffed to the gills from our lunch prior to coming here and, on top of it all, it was a frigid fall day, but we still thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream here and you can bet that we'll be back one day when we can actually feel our fingers after holding the ice cream for more than 10 seconds.

Chip City specializes in baking cookies with a soft, gooey center. After drooling over photos online, I decided to treat myself one night. The store is located on a main street in Ridgewood, so it's street parking only. When I walked in, I couldn't get over how cute and bright the store was. To whoever is in charge of the marketing, design, and logos... kudos to you! A sweet employee (I think her name was Chrissy?) answered all my questions and helped me out. Since I came later in the evening, I was worried there wouldn't be too many cookies available, but I was wrong. There were plenty AND they were still fresh too! They offer classic flavors as well as seasonal and artisanal ones. So many unique and creative options! They also have mini ones and thin ones (with less calories). Flavors are rotated weekly and you can check the website for the line-up. Each cookie is $5.50, but trust me... they are dense, large, and can be shared with other people. I decided on the 3 Box Special ($14.50) and got... *Italian Rainbow - MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ONE! It's a tri colored almond cookie filled with raspberry jam and topped with dark chocolate ganache. The almond paste was so rich and the sweet jam was the perfect touch. A MUST TRY! *Chocolate Chip - A yummy classic. How could you go wrong with a brown sugar cookie with dark chocolate chips? *Fluffernutter - The description made it sound better than it tasted, so this was my least favorite out of the three. It's a vanilla sugar cookie with peanut butter chips filled with marshmallow cream. The peanut butter overpowered everything else. I feel like this would work better with a chocolate cookie. What I love about these cookies is that they don't just taste like a giant blob of sugar. You can actually appreciate and distinguish between the different flavors and ingredients. If you like crispy/crunchy cookies, you probably won't be a fan. If you enjoy cookies with a slightly crunchy exterior, but a soft, ooey, gooey (almost raw-like) interior, Chip City is for you!
