Tonight's salmon and seafood special was well prepared and plentiful with a nice glaze on the salmon and the muscles were plump and delicious. My wife gave it a thumbs up and will enjoy her leftovers tomorrow as well. My lasagna was fine. I would prefer to have it hold its shape as opposed to spreading all over my plate due to an over abundance of cheese but the meat was delicious and so I am quite satisfied. Oddly however, the restaurant's owner was sitting out on the restaurant the whole time texting. I approached him as we were leaving to comment on the delicious salmon special. I went to Newtown for the first time. The place was lovely. I ordered veal saltimbucco. I was so disappointed that the vel was tough.

Food-was fantastic. We had the ravioli and baked rigatoni with a meatball. Perfect. The sauce was tasty and the portion was large. The ravioli was great. Plenty of filling and the size was jumbo. There was a huge selection of wines. Plenty to chose from. They had an Italian selection and others. The pasta fagioli was hot and tasty. And the house salad was perfectly portioned with a balsamic dressing. The best part was dessert. I have had allot of cannolis over the years, these were perfect., the filling was ricotta and they are made on demand. Service- the wait staff work together. Our waitress was attentive, but as it got busier, she came back less frequently. She was extremely pleasant and friendly. The entire staff was very attentive to make sure our plates were removed when finished. Top notch teamwork Ambiance- who doesn't live a little Italian music when in an Italian restaurant. I read online that it was a byob. They don't tell you there is a $15 uncorking fee. We ordered entrees. They come with soup or salad. This was our Valentine's spot but not anymore. The food was ok but we chose to come here for a dinner date instead of watching the game. Some jerkoff a couple tables over had his tablet on his table BLASTING the game. FYI... when you ask for portobello instead of button mushrooms on your pizza they have been marinated. I picked mine off and ate them separately. The flavor of the portobello mushrooms is good but didn't care for them on my pizza. I will still be stopping in for a slice now and then. New renovation is fantastic!! I've always been a loyal take out customer but with their expansion and new outdoor space this will be a regular for our dine ins meals in Newtown. They are expanding for s third time at the Newtown location, and I can only review the Newtown restaurant, although there is another location or two. Entrees come with soup or salad, & both are good choices. Their Pasta Fazool soup is thick & well seasoned & you can taste that it's homemade. The house salad is fresh & crisp & their Balsamic house dressing is terrific. Also, the fresh bread, made from pizza dough is warm & yummy and is served with a nice tomato sauce like s bruschetta. My friend & I split the fried calamari with cherry peppers which were tender & not greasy or chewy & was served with a spicy tomato sauce (or was it the cherry peppers that provided the extreme heat?) After our salad, bread & appetizer, we were so full, that we had to stop eating after a few bites & both took our delicious pasta entrees home & enjoyed 2-3 meals from the leftovers. I have never been disappointed here. I even took a fussy friend here who loved their salmon. The desserts look delicious, although I'm sure they're not made by the restaurant. The service is efficient, though a little slow at the end of the night. The restaurant is clean & fairly attractive for it's location in s strip mall. Their pizza is delicious, although a little pricey when you add a few toppings. We took 9 people to dinner last.minute after sitting in a another restaurant for 30 minutes with no service. Seating was easy and the hostess was very polite after discussing our last minute reservation while in transit from State Street in Newtown. Ambiance was great and the restaurant had a great family vie along with many people enjoying their food. Our server Courtney was great. She was attentive, informative and kept her thumb on our progression through drinks, dinner and wine opening. Food was great as discussed at the table dwellers with our selection of food ranging from chicken marasala, beet salad, sausage, Linguini Pescatore, and the Brooklyn pizza. I used to like this place. Had a 6:30 reservation. Got seated at 7. Wrong appetizer delivered and left on the table and we had to go get someone to take it away. Correct appetizer arrived (crab stuffed portobello) and mushroom was burnt (although to be fair crab topping was good). Our meal didn't arrive until 8:30. My dinner companion ordered shrimp and scallops over pasta which arrived cold and without scallops. My cappellini with crabmeat and tomato had barely any crab and was ridiculously expensive. The lasagna is described on their menus as "Layered tender fresh ricotta, grande mozzarella, homemade bolognese sauce". The operative word here is layered. Layered implies just that, layers of ingredients between slices of pasta. What we got was one slice of pasta on the bottom, a large amount of chopped meat in the middle, some ricotta cheese, another layer of pasta and mozzarella cheese on the top covered with sauce. That's not lasagna. My wife and I watched a YouTube video on the best lasagna. Magianno's and Olive Garden (yes believe it or not Olive Garden) were two of the best rated. Just had lunch with friends at Piccolo Trattoria, Newtown. I ordered their great Salmone Alla Piccolo. Printed Menu said $19. When the bill came it was $25. I questioned the waiter who went to the back and then came back and said they would adjust it. 5 minutes later a blond woman comes to our table and says the price will be $25. She said it was written on the bottom in small print that the price could change on anything. I said "What? The menu says $19 and there is no star or indication to read bottom of the menu nor were we told the price would be different. I repeated myself a few times and she ignored me and said it would be $25. One of my friends asked why and she said that the price of salmon had gone up. We planned a 40 person luncheon at Piccolo, but we ended up with close to 70 people AND we arrived 30 minutes early. They rallied their staff, hustled to set more tables, and started taking orders without blinking an eye. The food was served hot and delicious, and we'll be customers forever. Just attended a private party in one of Piccolo Trattoria's side rooms in their Newtown store. It went very well. We were about 20 people celebrating a successful election season in town. The victorious candidates, their families and the campaign team came together with our own wine and beer, and a pre-selected menu of three entree choices (chicken francaise, eggplant parmesan and grilled tilapia) side salad, penne vodka, bread and tomato based dipping sauce. We had two servers assigned to us who did a great job of keeping everything moving. I split the chicken and eggplant with someone, and both were excellent. The egg/lemon/white wine reduction was tart and played well with the pan sauteed tender bird and was ample enough to allow sipping up with the fresh homemade bread. The eggplant was likewise thin sliced and pan fried before going into the oven to meld with the tomato sauce and mozzarella. Delicious. With a few glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon, a final sweet bite of chocolate chip mini cannolli and friendly conversation about gearing up for a more successful 2020 presidential election, we were on our way out the door in two hours. Well I wonder if you just reheated a pizza from lunch, this is such a waste. This pizza is over cooked and rubbery and did not satisfy my craving at all. Never coming back here for pizza again. And the guy who runs the counter is never nice to me when I come in. I've been coming many years but maybe be a lil friendlier? He just slammed the pizza on the counter top. Our server Liliana was so so sweet and we will be back to have her as our server again! The food was great from the soup to the entree and even the dessert. While the greeters were friendly and welcoming, the service and food quality were disappointing. I began with Pasta Fagioli that arrived without any pasta. The delivered beans in tomato base appeared and tasted canned instead of freshly made. The chopped vegetables that are a part of this simple soup were missing. This soup should be made daily in an Italian restaurant, but this was not the case at Piccolo Trattoria. The bread was a soft and spongey product, not Italian bread. Our friendly server disappeared for quite awhile, and she seemed to have been working, maybe cleaning the kitchen, while I waited for my Caesar salad to be delivered. When I stopped another server or bus person and asked if we--a group of three--had been forgotten, he was apologetic and returned with my small salad of Romaine lettuce, croutons, and grated cheese, all topped with a thick, bottled dressing that created a goopy mess. This salad was not worth eating. Our server returned and we asked for the check. She had not asked us if we wanted coffee or dessert. Our entrees were of mixed quality--the chicken piccata and pasta Roma were satisfactory, but the pasta with cauliflower lacked flavor. A great place for iconic Italian dishes. The menu includes everything from stuffed shells and shrimp scampi, to carbonara and chicken marsala. Situated in a strip mall, you'll find the atmosphere warm and cozy yet great for large groups as well. The food here is very good if you eat in the restaurant. I usually do take out. And it's a bit of a crapshoot as to how good the food is. They have inconsistency problems with takeout. Sometimes they for get the salad dressing. Sometimes the roles are rock hard. Yesterday our chicken parm was very hard to cut with a knife and was definitely overcooked. Please do better.
