My daughter and I had a great experience here. From the time I made an appointment for the same day until the time we left. The salon was clean and they did an excellent sea salt pedicure. They didn't rush while doing the pedicure. The only thing I thought was funny was when they put the timer on for the 10min foot massage. I got the French dip manicure. typically this type of manicure would last 3-4 weeks, maybe even more. 4 DAYS after I got my nails done, 3 of my nails have chipped. I went back to get them fixed and the owner was shocked that it happened and was questioning if I got the manicure done there. Two days after I went back to get them fixed, another 2 of my nails chipped. They use a different method for the dip polish than I have seen at other salons. If you go to this place DO NOT GET THE DIP MANICURE! $55 (not including tip) for less than 2 weeks with this manicure. Very disappointing, I will not be back. read more

Came here for a gel mani and regular pedicure and absolutely love my nails! I was lucky that they were able to fit me in as I was a walk-in on a late Friday afternoon. Highly recommend to call and schedule an appointment as they had to turn away some walk-ins due to prior scheduled appointments. Michelle did a great job on my nails. I have no complaints. Steven, I believe is the manager, also help speed up time (but did not compromise quality) and worked on trimming and filing my nails while Michelle gave me the pedicure. What I absolutely love are the variety of colors they carry. Also, the bottles with a yellow dot on it means that they have the exact color in gel. This place has provided me with the best nail salon experience I have ever had thus far! I received a regular manicure and pedicure for $33 and it was worth every penny! I made my appointment for 1 pm and when I arrived, the nail tech already had everything set up for me. I believe her name is Allie. To start off my manicure, she dipped my hands in some type of warm wax and then wrapped them in gloves. Next, she started working on my pedicure. The sink was wrapped in plastic for sanitary purposes. Also, she unwrapped a fresh set of tools to use on my feet. In other words, this place is very clean. During my pedicure, I was pleasantly surprised when my nail tech used warm oil and hot stones to massage my feet and calves. It felt sooo relaxing. And she did a great job with polishing my toe nails. Once my pedicure was complete, she went back to working on my manicure. As she worked on my nails, another employee massaged my neck, back, and arms for about 10 minutes. That massage was the icing on the cake for me. If I could give this crappy place zero stars I would. The bad manicure wasn't even the problem, the problem was the horrible interaction I had with the horrible woman claiming to be the owner. I noticed one side of the fan I was using to dry seemed to be broken so I told the tech who had done my nails. I could move to another one no problem and I did, but thought I should first say why so that the people working there were aware that particular fan needed to be repaired. That's when the woman claiming to be the owner yelled from the other side of the room, "No one likes you!" I said, "Excuse me?!" She repeated herself and I said, "That's how you treat a customer?! All because she tried to inform you that a piece of equipment needs to be fixed?! You don't act nasty towards someone who pays for a service. You don't have to like me but you do need to treat me with some common decency or you can just keep your mouth shut." If you are looking for SNS dip powder, do not come here. For the record, Although I had a horrible experience while in the salon the day I got my nails done, I waited to leave this review because I was genuinely hoping that the quality and the end result would justify the means. I was incorrect in my assumption. I got my nails done the evening of December 8th and called ahead to verify that they indeed did provide SNS and that they weren't busy. They said yes to both inquiries, so I went. Upon soaking off my nails, the nail technician became frustrated because I wanted to soak them off in a bowl with acetone as opposed to their foil and wrap method. We ended up doing both. When she removed the foil, she filed the bed of my nails and thinned them out to paper and I increasingly became anxious because my nails are thin enough to begin with. She just kept filing and filing. Then, when she began doing the steps for SNS, she was doing them incorrectly (I've gotten SNS for over a year and have learned the correct steps by now). I explained to her that she needed to do a base coat. Enough said. I asked for a French manicure. They came out decently. However, she did not even attempt to cut my cuticles or skin around my nails. The whole process made me anxious and upset. She was so stressed out making the lines for my French manicure, that after she completed one hand sub-parly, she had to get a fan for HERSELF because she broke out in a sweat. The end result was a fairly chunky looking, cuticle-filled french manicure. Their only saving grace at the time of service was a nice back massage, warmed lotion for my hands, and hand heating pads which were a nice touch. Although they didn't look spectacular, and everything previously mentioned, I waited to see the longevity and quality of my nails. It has been not even 6 full days and they had started lifting by the fourth more fully. Today, on the 6th day, my middle finger nail is halfway popped off and in pain, while the rest are extremely close to hanging on a thread as well. If you want sns, do not come here. The biggest waste of 55 dollars I have ever spent in the 23 years I have existed on this planet earth. So happy to find Steven and his staff again. The new establishment is airy & bright and very clean. They have tub liners to ensure proper hygiene. Tons of gel & polish colors to choose from. The woman who gives massages (she was at Gigi's and I believe her name is Maria) is an absolute asset and worth every tip she earns, as the massages are complimentary. Trust me, you will want to give her a tip! A gel man is $25 and well-being pedi is $20. You can step up your pedi to include callous remover, if needed, for an add'l $10. Not bad at all. I usually make an appointment and have never had to wait and I believe they do take walk-ins as well. The dryers are LED and not UV, which is a plus. This was my first visit and I'm highly pleased . To start , I'm extremely particular with my nails so it's hard for me to find a place. Found this place on Yelp and wasn't too far from my original place . I had Mickey for my gel manicure and regular pedicure. The pedicure was amazing , they use grand new tools fresh out the package , and a tub liner. The regular pedi comes with sea salt scrub and hot stone massage with hot cream. The gel mani is amazing too also featuring hot cream. I honestly think that the nail tech I had is the reason it was amazing . I used to go to GiGi Nail Salon in Bronxville but it was sold and under new management. Although they were good, the prices were increased quite a bit, and I couldn't bring myself to pay higher prices than I usually was. Thank goodness I learned that Steven, the old manager of Gigi had moved to this salon !!! If you are unsure of trying this place - I am telling you that you cannot go wrong. You get so much for your money. The free massage (tip well, it's so deserved) while you get your nails done is simply heavenly. This salon is super clean which is very important. They have a huge selection of color gel polishes, including Essie which is sometimes hard to find. Everyone is friendly and accommodating. I have found a new go to nail technician, Michelle ! Last but not least, my gel mani lasts at least a solid two weeks, if not longer - being a nurse, constantly washing and using my hands - that says a whole lot. This place was formally known as Tannah's Nails which was the sister salon of GiGi's nails on New Rochelle Road. This is under the same management that used to manage Gigi's nails. The Paraffin hand dips are back as is the same quality of service. The free massages are still there as is Steve. They now accept credit cards but there is a $20 minimum which isn't that hard to achieve. I'm so happy that the quality of service that first attracted me to Gigi's nails is back and better at Pick-A-Polish! There are also specials right now, a gel manicure and pedicure for $40 and this special is available on the weekends as well!! I've been to Pick a Polish twice for a pedicure and have left each time dissatisfied with the overall finish. Different technicians worked on my feet during my visits but both rushed through the service. I selected the Ocean Spa pedicure which includes callus removal. However, my feet felt anything but smooth upon completion. What's more, my cuticles were not properly trimmed -- for me simply pushing them back does not effect a neat look. When I voiced my concerns, the technician working on my pedicure said something in Korean/Chinese to another technician and giggled but did nothing to correct any of the issues I highlighted. I recently moved to the area and I was desperate to find a nail salon. After reading the mostly favorable reviews, I made an appointment and visited the salon Saturday afternoon. This place is wonderful! I arrived about 15 minutes before my 1:15PM appointment and was seen right away. I explained to the front desk that this was my first visit and I had gel polish from a previous manicure. I mention this because another salon I attempted to visit wanted to charge me $5.00 to have the gel removed! The highlights of my visit are: - The technicians took their time with my manicure and pedicure. I never felt rushed. - The salon lines the foot basin with a plastic liner! - The technician gave me a book of colors to pick from and advised me that she would match the colors for my hand and toe nails. Loved that approach! - I had a spa pedicure and advised the technician that I was extremely ticklish and she took that into consideration when doing my pedicure. - I had a gel manicure and the technician took lots of care in removing the old polish. - The nail technician used three layers of polish (my old salon only used two layers). The extra layer of gel polish made a huge difference! - The tools that are used are wrapped for and sanitized prior to its use. - I opted for the massage while getting a manicure...what a great experience. (The massage is free...just remember to give the masseuse a tip) - There is plenty of street parking in the town of Pelham. Just remember to bring quarters to feed the meters. Overall, I am fairly satisfied with this salon because they don't try to upsell you on all sorts of extra services (that's one of the reasons why I left my previous salon) and do a good job with the pedicures. I find the shellac manicures a bit inconsistent, and sometimes they are too aggressive with filing the nails and cutting the cuticles. I don't find the women very friendly and they mostly chat with each other in their own language. However, the prices are reasonable and rarely do you have to wait more than a few minutes even if you show up without an appointment, as I typically do. read more
