Horrible customer service! Got an order for four last week. Called to place an order again for pick up, informed them we bought fried rice last week, paid for it and never received it. We got transferred to the manager without asking, manager came on after a wait and asked if we had the receipt. We didn't, so shr gave ud the third degree about what time and who was our server and before sge could ask morr questions, we decided to go elsewhere. Of course, last time we are going there. If you can order ahead, do so. This place has no walk up customers, but they have a ton of online orders. They take FOREVER to serve in store customers. The employees do not have a sense of urgency and will ignore customers that walk in. AVOID coming here! read more

I would give the food three stars because besides the honey chicken and house special chicken, everything was pretty mediocre. I added a star because the lady who was up front on 12/27/21 was kind even though she was the ONLY person taking orders, answering phones and getting orders prepared. I picked up a delivery order today and the wait time was longer than expected but that's because they were SO busy and understaffed. However, I didn't mind waiting because I could see they were doing their best during this recovery. Courtney was on top of her game under the pressure and I told her she needs a raise!!! My go-place for Chinese was closed, it was Monday and I forget that many traditional Chinese restaurants close. So, I went to what was close by and non-traditional and ended up here. I never have a very good meal here, and have not been here in years. So, I forgot how bad it is but I did remember that they always screw up my order. Most of the food is really mushy meat coated in sugary sauces. Hell, they even charge you $1 extra just to put fresh vegetables in the food. I placed my order in person, and told them no water chesnuts. I told them this with each item. They guy even repeated this back to me. When I get home, sure enough, everything has water chesnuts in it. I should have checked right there in the store. I should not have to but this is normal for them to get my order wrong. Then I pull out their soy sauce packets and find they are some odd brand I never heard of. Then I read the fine print on the packet "MADE IN CHINA." Methinks not. If Mattel cannot keep lead out of their Chinese made toys I have serious concerns about what could be in some odd brand of Chinese made soy sauce. If they are this cheap that they cannot spring on a little better quality soy sauce, who knows what else they could be skimping on in the back or with the purchase of everything else that goes into my food. Best chain restaurant in Santa Clarita Valley! I was turned off from trying this place for a long time because of the hokey name and this idea of "Fresh Asian Kitchen" which to me sounded like an attempt to make "ethnic" food palatable to big white Santa Clarita. But lo and behold, I was knocked off my feet the first time I tried it. Star #1 is for being Vegetarian friendly. Order anything off the menu and substitute the meat for tofu, and it knocks the price down to $6.49. For anything! This seemed high the first time, because I am used to spending less than five bucks for a two-item combo at a normal Chinese food place. BUT, the food is NOT sitting in a hot tub waiting to be scooped hastily into a styro-clam. This food is made fresh. Star #2 is for the choices. Brown or white rice. No extra charge for brown, like some places do. Tofu can be cooked fried or steamed, depending on your desired calorie intake. (Tip: Fried is le bomme). Star #3 is for the service. Friendly dude at the ordering counter. Friendly dude brings the food to your table. Friendly manager dude checks up on you. Star #4 is for the taste. I had the ORANGE CHICKEN, but with FRIED TOFU in place of the chicken. This was no ordinary orange chicken dish. Fresh orange and lemon wedges were cooked in with the sauce, dried peppers added pizzang, and water chestnuts added nice texture contrast. I was so impressed. Pickup Stix is not trying to be, like, legit Chinese; it has its own thing, and it does it well. Star #5 is for the quantity. I have a huge voracious appetite and even I could not finish my food. A couple with similar tastes could order one dish and split it, easily. Just ask for two plates. The food comes in these non-styro takeout containers, and you scoop out onto your plate only the amount you can handle. The rest you get to take home for later. This place isn't that great. We came in during that odd time between lunch and dinner. It was empty and the workers were doing busy work (stocking and what not). They weren't welcoming at all. The lady that took our order just stared at us with a blank face, not a smile or anything. If anything, she looked a bit annoyed that we were there or that we were taking a while to look over the menu. The food itself was mediocre at best. Kung pao shrimp: salty Chicken and vegetables: no flavor Honey chicken: crunchy and tender but way too sweet. Overall this was the best of the 3 entrees. Chow mein: Disappointing flavor. Tasted just like these Filipino ramen packets I buy (pancit canton) for $1. It tastes great for $1 but not for $6! Cream cheese wontons: Plenty of filling and nice and crunchy. Pick Up Stix is good fast food, but it use to be even better; it use to be great. Unfortunately their quality has declined over the years. It's sad, because they had so much potential. I love that you can make changes/alterations to menu items (unlike their competitor who's initials are PE). For example, my friend likes the fried tofu without sauce. They're usually happy to make this change. I also like the option for brown rice; they were doing this long before PE. How can they be better? The food is okay. I like the thickness of the chow main, but they don't give enough of it when you order a meal. My friend ordered honey chicken and I ordered the orange chicken and to be quiet honest, they didn't taste much different. I liked the egg rolls. The sauce that accompanies the egg rolls was yummy. I think Carson, who's apparently a scientist, got the calculation just right, 10-20% better than Panda Express, few steps down from Pei Wei. That's generally a stop after mine on the Chinese fast food train, but I manage to eat here a couple of times a year. This is usually a necessary evil when successfully negotiating out of a meal at Chili's or Claim Jumper. Which reminds me, I'm in a grouchy mood and I have some restaurants to pick on. It's been a while since I've been to a Pick Up Stix so we checked it out for old times sake. Upon entering, we were greeted with a smile & hello. Nice start. The restaurant appeared clean & the staff were all friendly. So here, unlike at Panda Express, they don't cook your meal until you order it. So when the girl told us it would be twenty minutes before it would be ready, I was questioning my choice of "fast food" Chinese restaurants because I was starving. I was pleasantly surprised when our food was brought to our table in 10 minutes or so. They offer patio seating or plenty of indoor seating with a flat screen TV in the corner. The separate dishes were served in their own containers, like old school delivery Chinese food. This obviously makes it easy to take home leftovers if you want. But after finishing my meal, I didn't really want to. The food wasn't bad by any means but it wasn't good either. It was another "fusion" restaurant encounter that left me wanting more flavor in the food. Look, it's a fast food place. People don't come here to skimp on the sauce. They come to eat good tasting, flavorful fast food. Well, as I got to the bottom of the container, it was packed with rice noodles that were over saturated with sauce. I wish the sauce was on my Mongolian beef instead. I may be in the minority when I say I prefer Panda Express. But I'm sure I'm in the majority when I say I prefer flavor with my food. read more

Please do yourself a favor and do not eat here. We ordered the family combo meal and for the $27-28 spent, it was not worth it. The portions were small and the chicken dishes we ordered looked so sad and tasted like it was as if they warmed up a generic, frozen bag of "Chinese-style" stir-fry. The broccoli were all wilted and soggy, the jasmine rice was undercooked and pretty much crunchy. Now, seriously what can you expect if they can't even cook the rice correctly!
