The greasy (their discretion) fries are fantastic, especially doused with a dash of malt vinegar. Try the cream pies for dessert. We bounce between the coconut and the banana. We are often surprised at the amount of people going to the place across the street when a far superior Brennan's is waiting. Don't make that mistake! Each item used as decor seemed to whisper a story. We were immediately brought warm bread to share. We ordered the Fresh Lake Erie Walleye and were not disappointed, so delicious! I got The Mermaid Water as my drink and it was yummy and so pretty! We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere that felt like we'd stepped into a fishing village hidden gem. Years ago we ate here and had a horrible experience with stale bread and a bad smell as soon as you walked in.. We have recovered from that nightmare and bravely tried it again #1- The restaurant was clean and smelled good from the moment we arrived #2- the decor was your typical seafood restaurant decor. It was cute but not overdone. You definitely knew you were in a fish restaurant. #3- Service- we did not wait long for our server Alicia to come to the table. She was actually a lot of help. We were going to order sandwiches, but they do not come with any sides like french fries. And believe it or not a side of french fries is around 8 dollars! Crazy I know. So she showed us where we could get a dinner with fish and two sides, which would've been cheaper than ordering à la cart. And the bread this time was actually very good. So if we wanted to, we could make our own sandwich. She was not just informative and friendly, but she did not hover over us but checked back once in a while to make sure that we had our drinks filled up. She did really good job. #4- we tried the Walleye and the Perch. These are supposed to be their specialties. They were good - but a bit bland. They lacked seasoning but they seemed fresh and cooked well. The food came out hot which is always a plus. #5- I liked the coleslaw #6- They have an outdoor pavilion for eating in the sunshine #7- They have live music- we will have to check that out!! Stopped for lunch on our way back from Cleveland. Wanted to eat near the lake... although was just an inlet but the boating atmosphere served the purpose. Fun nautical ambience. I stopped here after the guardians game already feeling guilty leaving our dogs at home but we needed dinner. From the moment we walked in the owner was very kind and personable, we sat and ordered right away decided we wanted to change to takeout, quickly flagged someone down they immediately told the kitchen to box our food they were so quick and accommodating, the server apologized it was not his fault at all he was awesome!! Just left the worst seafood experience we have had in at least ten years. Went out of our way to visit! Ordered the broiled seafood platter. The food took forever to come out (it's 2:00pm on a Sunday and there were a total of six occupied tables). What they brought for almost $35 was the most obviously frozen GARBAGE I've had in a long time. The two 'scallops' were FORMED TUBULAR REMNANTS of (maybe?) some kind of fish. 2/5 -- Food okay, pricing and service miss -- Brennan's Fish House Came in last Wednesday for lunch after a day out on the boat. One in our group ordered a seafood bowl. Another got a generous bowl of chili, cooked to perfection. Pricing was way out of line with the quality. You had to pay extra for onions and cheese on top of the chili. You even paid extra for allergy substitutions. Nickel-and-dimed for basics at lake-house prices. The issues started early. One of our group has severe allergies. Soon after she started her soup, she had an allergic reaction. To avoid embarrassment, I quietly got up to find our server. I let her know our friend was very ill and we needed to leave for the boat immediately. She didn't notify a manager or come to the table. She actually took another table's order right in front of us while our friend sat there in pain trying not to cause a scene. Separately, I told our server at the start that I wanted to buy the Captain his Key Lime pie -- his favorite -- and have it served right after his meal. That didn't happen. We were left waiting at the table for the Captain's dessert while the rest of us had already checked out and were ready to head back to the boat. When I asked about it, the server barked at me defending why it took her so long, even though I told her when she took my order to have it ready and served when the Captain finished his lunch. When I was checking out with the Captain, the manager -- I believe her name was Alesia -- knew right away we were upset and offered to help. I told her I'd prefer to write a Yelp review. She offered her name and number to talk further. I don't want her thinking we're fishing for a gift card -- this isn't the first time we've been disappointed with service or food quality. On another visit they overcharged us for a slice of Key Lime pie that tasted worse than Aldi's. Aldi's was better. At a lake/boathouse spot, Key Lime pie should be a standout, not an afterthought. Bread basket was one of the highlights. Not many other food complaints from the group because we know the menu and what to order vs. avoid. Biggest issue: how the allergy situation was handled, charging extra for allergy substitutions, and staff attitude. When a guest is in distress, that has to come before taking new orders. read more

This restaurant had such a warm and welcoming vibe as soon as we set foot in the door. It seemed like we were going back in time, in the best way possible. The owner was walking around, greeting customers, and making sure that everyone was taken care of. Right down to helping an elderly gentleman take his coat off and get seated. This is a rarity anymore. Our server Makenzie didn't miss a beat, despite it being a packed house on a Friday night. I had a cherry mule cocktail, which was excellent. And we started out with a salad and appetizer platter. Everything arrived quickly but was timed well enough that we didn't feel rushed between entrees. I ordered the Lake Erie perch platter with fries and coleslaw. It was all fresh, hot, and delicious. The coleslaw needs a bit of work, though. They were very generous with the sauces for each entree. My hubby got the Delmonico steak and shrimp dinner. The steak was cooked to perfection! Very tasty, no A-1 sauce needed! The owner even checked in with us to make sure that our dinners were satisfactory. I ordered a slice of key lime pie to go! It was great! We first went on Sunday night but also returned Monday after discovering almost no restaurants are open on Monday. Excellent service and a lengthy menu with lots of choices. Over two nights we tried and liked Fresh Lake Erie Perch and Walleye, Virginia oysters on the half shell and fried and scallops. Oyster's were huge! My mom decided she wanted to try this place for her birthday dinner. I hadn't done any research ahead of time, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It's across the street from a pretty well known seafood restaurant, but Brennan's seems to hold their own. The look from the outside gives "nautical" vibes and once inside its very casual, but has a homey, familiar feel to it. Our server was Corey, and he was very friendly, professional and he did not forget about us. The food was fresh and tasty. For starters we had: Fried calamari Breaded oysters (fried) Fried mushrooms And of course the bread and butter. Four of us got the catfish with the Cajun seasoning, I replaced my coleslaw with a side salad. My daughter used some of the bread and made her a catfish sandwich. My mom got the stuff Orange roughy, she said it was great and filling. We had food to take home and no room for desert. We received a visit from who I could only assume is the manager or maybe owner, asking how everything was. It's things like that that make a difference. I love Brennan's. Made it yesterday for clambake. Sundays in October. The price was reasonable compared to other places. The chowder delicious, clams too. Potato was fine, corn too. I would have like the chicken to be more roasted. It was more like a stew chicken than a traditional clambake chicken. Please change this so your clambake will be perfect. Worst oysters I've ever seen, I was shocked they would even serve them. They had every tell-tale sign of a bad oyster and looked like they defrosted a frozen oyster and placed it on a different shell. We got the fried perch, walleye, and roughy. We also got the crab cake, scallop, French fries, and loaded mashed potatoes. The French fries were a little greasy, but it didn't bother us. They provide a warning when you're in the restaurant. All in all, we liked some dishes better than others. The fried perch and walleye were fried perfectly and were among some of the best North-American style fried fish I've ever had. The mashed potatoes were also delicious. My boyfriend and I went to Brennen's Fish House for the first time on Saturday, October 18th for Sweetest Day. We both had the Crab Stuffed Orange Roughy and I have to say, by far, this is the best fish I have ever had. Our meal came with broccoli and a baked potato. The Orange Roughy was so tender and flaky and the crab stuffing was excellent. The portions was very generous, enough for two meals and the price was very reasonable. The owner personally came over, greeted us and asked us how we enjoyed our meal. You must try this restaurant! The food and service were amazing! read more
