Yay We love Pickles Pub! I was in OC (against my better judgement) for a VW event called H20 - I guess it's kind of popular among the kiddies. We were staying across the street from Pickles - so it's a good way of getting out of the drunken mess to another punken mess in drublic. :) It's a bit of a tradition for the group I was staying with...they kind of take over the place. It's your typical beach bar but with a liquor store inside in case you need one for the road. All the amenities such as pool tables, cozy booths, televisions, darts, etc. I like how it has a huge rectangle bar so there's not a long wait to get a drink. It wasn't overly crowded but not empty either. We didn't eat there so can't comment on the food. Music is Top 40 and 90s mix. Crowd was what to be expected in OC - a mixture of young and old but like I said there was about 30 of us there together so I couldn't tell ya who was with us or not. Attire was casual and beachy. Overall - not bad for being a block's walk. No need to drive...I'll drink to that! read more

This place was our last stop on the way out of Ocean City, just for lunch, so we were not expecting much. Unfortunately, Pickles Pub still managed to lower the bar. Upon arrival, it took a pretty long time just to get noticed by the server so we could be sat, and it was clear that even with only four other tables, he was stretched thin. We were sat at a table and he disappeared. He returned a while later to take a drink order, and then about ten years later came back with the drinks and passed them out in the wrong order. If anyone from Pickles reads this, if you are going to take ten years to refill drinks, you may want to consider using larger cups. The little 8 ounce disposable cup of ice with a splash of Coke was almost as infuriating as the decade I waited to have it filled back up. Next, we saw our server go up to the table next to us with a Caesar salad and say the following: "Hey, so the kitchen got confused and instead of a side Garden salad, they made a Caesar salad." He put it down in front of the woman and said: "Is that okay? I can get you some toppings for it." How hard is it to make this poor woman the salad that she actually ordered? All three of us dining there are experienced servers at other restaurants and this incident basically underlined Pickles Pub's general attitude towards customer service: Terribly sorry, but we just don't care. They should make that their slogan. The Onion Rings and Crab Dip appetizers were almost redeemably good. That petal sauce is similar to Outback's Bloomin' Onion sauce, a horseradish mayonnaise, but with a sweeter kick that was very pleasant. I believe it is also the "Boom, Boom" sauce on the Boom, Boom Burger I ordered. Either appetizer is good enough to distract you (briefly) from the catastrophic tornado that is your server trying to keep his five-table lunch crowd happy. We all ordered burgers mid-rare, and all three of them came out well done. Unsurprising at this point. They also took forever to come out (well done, go figure), but it's okay because I was able to use the extra time to watch Braveheart four times and learn Japanese. I never would have had time for all that if I wasn't waiting forever for my overcooked burger. I might have been doing something pointless, like not hitting traffic on my way home. It's okay, because my experience was immediately saved by the fact that, when I went to use the ketchup squeeze-bottle, it exploded immediately upon opening. I don't mean like, it dribbled a little too much on my fries. I mean it f***ing blew it's contents all over me like an x-rated bukkake film. As I sat there looking like a newborn infant covered in afterbirth, our timely server sauntered up and winced- but he reassured me immediately, saying "Ooh, sorry man. This happens all the time." What the f***? That happens all the time? Ketchup bottles regularly explode all over your customers? Thanks for the three wetnaps, though. I was able to get one of my eyebrows clear of ketchup so that I could raise it in confusion and wonder why anyone would eat at a place where there is a percentage chance they will be soaked through in fermented condiments. We still gave our server 30% tips because we're gangsters, but here's a second tip for Pickles Pub from one professional to another: Your ketchup bottles are exploding for one of two reasons. 1) You're marrying ketchup bottles together like a bunch of disgusting thugs, which is in breach of Heinz supply policy. 2) You're storing ketchup in a hot room or leaving bottles out on your patio all day and it is causing fermentation, which is not only disgusting and careless, but also very annoying for me to wash out of my clothing. Based on the level of competence I encountered here, I would guess they are doing both. If you want to save some cash when you're catching a buzz, try drinking the ketchup because by now it probably has a 6% ABV. One star is for the petal sauce, which thankfully wasn't caked into my hair by the time I left. Please hire a staff with a clue and, if there actually is a manager on the premises anywhere, fire that one and hire a towel. It will be just as good at managing the front of house but might actually do something useful the next time one of your guests ends up bathing in your fermented condiments. I will never return here, but if you insist on coming, bring a poncho, some napkins (they apparently don't have those) and maybe a picnic lunch to snack on while you wait forever for your actual lunch. read more

Zero stars. Sitting here asking the bartender to turn on the NCAA National Championship lax game and she gives me shit for it. A sports bar that couldn't even tell me if they could air an ESPN nationally televised Championship game. The arrogance and the attitude from this bartender is laughable. I can see why the turtle does so much more business than this sh@t hole. Sorry to say traffic is so horrible and I have no other choice to stay here since the game has already started, but I will definitely never come back to this joke of a "sports bar" again. We left Pickles Pub in a hurry, and I realized that I left my wallet on the bar after we had walked about 2 blocks. My friend and I turned around and went back but they had already locked up, so they told us to call in the morning. In the morning, I checked my account before I called and they had charged me THREE times because the second time they (over)charged me, they forgot a PENNY so charged me a third time for a PENNY. On top of that, magically, not only could no one find my wallet there, but the manager also told me there was no possible way they charged my bank twice and refused to remove one of the charges! He insisted it was an "authorization" and told me to call my bank and they would tell me the same thing. I did call my bank, and they said it was definitely NOT an authorization, but 3 charges, and I had to have a manager remove the extra charges. Shady staff, unprofessional manager, worst bar experience ever, by far. It gets one star, only because I had to put a star in order to post this, or else it would have zero. read more

Probably the worst service I've had in a long time. Came in on a Thursday, the bar was fairly busy. The bartender, a young lady, short hair & tattoos, was the only one behind the bar. I get it. It's busy, your short staffed, it's rough. Being a server & bartender myself I fully understand. The food took a while to come out. Again, I fully understand. ITS BUSY. But the attitude of the bar tender was rude, indifferent & so inattentive that it definitely felt like she was ignoring us intentionally. The bar crowd also felt our pain as they too commented on the bartender ignoring customers. The older bar back was also unhelpful & rude. We had better service at Dough Rollers down the street by a college kid with a FULL section as well. She at least came by to periodically ask the mandatory "is everything okay here" spiel. I suppose adding another bartender could alleviate the problem. Unless the 2nd bar tender is just as rude. In short, not returning here again. read more

I have to say we didn't eat anything. We only had a couple beers but the service, as always was great and everyone very friendly. We very much enjoyed the live band..... Lovebettie. Their performance as always was awesome and they even called the Ode. with (Ode and the Time Node Trio) up on stage to sing a song with them. This place gets 3 stars solely due to our super nice and patient waiter. I feel bad for not remembering his name, but it was approaching 8pm and my boyfriend and I had been driving all day and only just got to OC looking to eat and find a hotel room. I practically inhaled the bottomless wings deal. They were ok. It's hard to mess up fried chicken wings. The bacon scallop appetizer was good and fresh and not overcooked so based on that, I would suggest ordering from their specials menu instead of the regular menu. read more

If you ever come to Ocean City during the off season (like I did), Seacrets is a ghost town. I think it's because everyone comes to Pickles. If you want a crowd of drunk 21-30 year olds, then this is the place for you. The beer is pretty damn cheap here too. I remember in my drunken stupor, I had to order more beer so I met the minimum charge requirement. I had no arguments here. Oh and if the high-score to the basketball game is still over 100, then that belongs to my friend. They call him the "spider monkey" because he just waves his arms really crazy like. I might just call him "the double-windmill." Spent the afternoon here yesterday and had impeccable service from Justin. Natty Bo pints for $2, what more can you say. The pretzel trio is a must, but you'll next more pretzels to finish all the sauces. Chicken wings , (sweet chili) are also very good. Orange & Grapefruit Crushes are very tasty. I just ate at Pickles Pub last night and I was less than impressed with the food. I ordered the 3 cheese chips and they were so salty I could not eat them. It was like eating straight salt. The bartender did remove them from my check though. I can also say that I was not a fan of the gorgonzola they used on them. Next, I ordered the sliders. Three little cheeseburgers that also came with chips and a pickle. The pickle was easily the best part. The sliders were average in flavor and dripping with grease. The chips were again to salty to eat. Now, on to the pros. The bartenders were great. They were very kind and made sure everyone was taken care of in a timely manner. The selection of beer is nice and they had plenty of liquor. The crowd appeared to be regulars and seemed like a good group of people. They have darts and pool tables as well as TV's. I was able to enjoy some Crusty Demons of Dirt while I ate and enjoyed my Sam Adams Noble Pils. I will also say that every girl in the place was very attractive (especially the red head that I saw, stunning). I am not a single man but if you are, that is an added bonus. To sum it up, if I just wanted to grab a beer, get to know some locals and maybe shoot some pool, this place is the ticket. It had a nice vibe and a good crowd with affordable beer. If you want good food, I do not think this is the place to go... then again, everyone has an off night, maybe last night was the cooks. read more

Nice place for a resort town. Meaning it looked and smelled clean. Plenty of seating at bar and tables. Rectangular shaped bar with an open center (no back bar). At 9pm, it wasn't very busy. Several open stools; 3 bartenders on duty. We were waited on within 1 minute. Ordered Patron and Jim Beam neat. Received a solid 2oz pour. Several pool tables. $1/game or $5/6 games. Good selection of ques; chalk on every table. Though no busier 30 minutes later, next round of drinks took a bit of effort to get the attention as they appeared to wander aimlessly about. I'd be interested in seeing how far in the weeds the bar staff gets when they're busy. read more

So. Came in to Pickles Pub to watch the World Cup Final. I'm going to keep this review quick and to the point as possible. Horrible service. We ordered our food at 11:15am (Pickles opened earlier than their normal hours for the showing of the World Cup). My party and I did not get our food until an hour and fifteen minutes after. The server seemed overwhelmed with her other 2-3 tables, so it took forever to get anything done. I kept hearing "sorry I'll be right with you" being thrown at guests both at the bar and at tables. Worst part? Being starving, waiting for your burger to arrive that you requested to be cooked medium, (a hot pink center), and your burger to come out well done. No pink at all. There is a list of Pickles Pub Policies, and one states, "If you have a problem with your food, please tell us before you eat it. Taking food back is not a big deal, we want to help you. But when you ate the entire thing, it's tough to believe you don't like it. So when we ask, 'How is everything?', just tell us." I 100% AGREE WITH THIS POLICY. I work in the restaurant industry and nothing irks me more when guests claim there was a problem with their food, after checking on them multiple times but only saying so after eating it. But what am I to do when the server NEVER checks on us, and when the original order takes over an HOUR to be made?? Horrible service. Visited for the 1st time with my wife because it looked like a chill bar to relax in Ocean City. Sat at the bar, there were probably 20 other people around the bar, and 3 bartenders. Each was having their own conversation with certain patrons and took about 10 minutes for one of them to ask if we wanted something. We both ordered alcoholic drinks but asked for waters first. Our drinks were delivered and the bartender walked away. When we finally got her attention 5 minutes later we asked for waters again & she acted offended and said they were coming. Ignorant! Its almost like this is a locals bar, and when tourists visit they ignore you purposely so you will leave. All of the bartenders would say hello by name to random people that came in, but didn't even try to conversate with you because you were an outsider. Disappointing, because we wanted to hang & watch the Orioles game, but left after one drink. Will never visit this place again or recommend it to anyone, but that's probably what the ignorant staff wants anyway so they only have to serve their friends. Stick to the boardwalk bars. read more

This bar is genuinely terrible. They are only interested in taking advantage of you. The pickle shot is just pickle juice, the food is bad and they will falsely run up your bill. Went in to order 2 Mac and cheese. There was 0 organization and the bar and tables were not that buys. Staff was EXTREMELY rude, didn't take our order for a good 10 mins and kept pushing is out of the way when they told to us to go to a certain area to order food. The food took 30 mins at least. When we went up to ask out the order they walk to a bag just randomly sitting at the bar and brought it over to us after who knows how long it just sat. People don't have masks or gloves and everyone is on top of each other. Def not taking COVID precautions. No way on this good earth am I going back. read more

I live in downtown OC. Today I decided to hang around the apartment all day and after awhile head over to the laundromat on 8th street figuring I'd utilize my day off while my girlfriend had to work. After she got off we figured we would meet up at Pickles and share our favorite pizza pie over a few cocktails. Sadly I ran out of ones and fives for the laundromat so I thought I could just go next door and break a 20. The bartender didn't seem so busy so I waited patiently for her to get to me and asked her if I could get 10 ones and two fives. She then stared at me and asked, "for what?" All I could do was stare back for a moment. Then I managed to mutter, "uhh, for the laundromat", being so taken aback. "So what, I'm your bank today?", Was the response I got. Now I've been in the food service industry for roughly 14 years and if someone-guest or not-asked me for a random favor like breaking a small bill into smaller ones I would gladly oblige. Service is doing for others. Not just doing for others only if you expect a tip. That's phony and fake by definition. The irony IS in this situation the fact that my girlfriend and I between the two of us have done it all in the industry. We tip very well, and we were going to dine in at your restaurant. And at the end of our stay that same bartender would have received at least 30 percent gratuity. Shame. We'll never be there again. read more

I placed a carry out order on Sunday 10/18/2020. The order consisted of 2 shrimp salad wraps, 1 crabcake sandwich, and buffalo shrimp tacos. All the food was horrible! Their selection of craft beers is easily one of the best in OC and for off-season they were the only close bar open near the boardwalk. Food is great. Most of the staff is great. But the late night bar manger (long haired hippie dude) needs to get some training in proper customer service and waiter/ bar management. You can not cut people off based in a disagreement or dislike. Especially if the table is your staffs, not yours! read more
