Stopped in because I saw the sign for Taco Tuesday special. Here's how the experience went. I sat down and asked what are the options for the tacos. The lady pointed to the top half which included chicken, al pastor, beef, vegetarian. I asked if I could mix and and she said No. Okay, then I got a little basket of chips maybe less than 10. It wasn't bad but nothing special. I was waiting for my food for a bit and then I asked for a refill on the chips. She said no that's a side. Ok. Then my food finally came which was the al pastor. It was good but slightly charred and burned. I would have been upset if I paid full price for that which was over $15 for 3. Ooh and then the bill came and I felt shame as the lady stood there with the minimum at 18%. Long story short. They are too strict. Two Sundays ago, we placed a takeout order from this restaurant through Yelp and picked it up from the restaurant. We ordered Elote corn (street corn), guacamole which included freshly fried tortilla chips, shrimp tacos, and chicken and mole tacos. The chicken and mole tacos also had sweet plantain pieces in it which was different. The food was really good. Service - placing the order through Yelp and picking it up at the restaurant was fine. When we got to the restaurant, one of the staff asked us our order number/ name and then handed us our food. Ambiance - I briefly checked out the restaurant and it was nice. They had indoor and outdoor seating. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because I felt like the process we paid for the food through Yelp was a bit high. I wonder if it would have been different if we placed the order directly at the restaurant or dined there. However, I'm looking forward to trying their other dishes next time we are in that area. My wife ordered a burrito and the rice had peas in it, which she is allergic to. When we told the waiter, he kind of condescendingly told her that "well for future times, when you order in a restaurant, you should tell them what you are allergic to." After the first one I decided on a second. The mojito themselves were smooth and refreshing. At first I thought they were weak but by the end of the second one I decided it was best to order lunch cause I was feeling "nice". I went with the Birria tacos. The tacos came with a side of beans. The tacos were actually pretty good. Safe to compare to the quality of the birria trucks. The beans tasted as if they were fresh out of a Goya can. Came here for a weekend lunch with my husband. The ambiance and decor is super cute in here, and I really liked their outdoor setup. I ordered a pork burrito and my husband had the chimichangas- both were excellent! We each also had a margarita that was nicely balanced and not too sweet. We ordered chips and salsa and they didn't arrive until after our entrees were dropped off which was kind of strange. They also charged us for hot sauce which I also found weird. I thought for sure it was some type of trap with the high prices, but the backyard patio is adorable, the service is amazing, the food is high quality, the portions are large, and the service was great. We made a last minute reservation on a Friday night, and the restaurant was about half full. We were seated right away. We ordered a few drinks which were good. We got several dishes. TUNA TOSTADA: Surprisingly good - lots of tuna, well seasoned, and came with a side of ultra-fresh guacamole. SHRIMP TACOS: Filled with shrimp, came with a really nice salsa, and the truffle corn was a great addition (despite my general aversion to truffle flavoring on everything). ENCHILADAS: Really nice, high quality, huge portion. Our server was super nice and helpful. My only gripe about this place was that we were told the guacamole was pre-mixed (strange for a place called Guacamole - was just looking to get it without onion). It also is a little expensive overall, but quite frankly, we thought it was totally worth it. Their guacamole is yummy (and it better be, considering the name of the establishment). My friends got some mixed tacos, but since I wasn't able to taste them, I can't review them. They looked ok. I got a burrito with pork and found it to be just ok. It wasn't bad, but, honestly, nothing to write home about. It was huge, but the meat tasted a little old, there was barely any guacamole inside, and other than rice and a few tasteless beans, there wasn't much more to give flavor to the creature. I wouldn't order it again. You can find plenty of places that offer a better burrito for much less. Overall, since it's not fair to label a restaurant for just one thing, I'd try it again. It's a bit of a walk away, but I was really excited to try out this spot. Unfortunately, my experience here could have been better. I placed a pick up order for 3:30pm. When I arrived, the first staff member inside told me that the restaurant was closed from 3 to 4pm. I tried to explain that I had already placed the order, and another friendlier staff member came by and told me to wait 10 minutes and my order would be ready. If you like your alcohol to be masked by something fruity, get the mango; the coconut tasted like pure tequila. No me gusta. We shared the carnitas, res and pollo tacos.
