This place is fantastic. Great food and very friendly service. Well worth a trip down.

I enjoy Pico well enough. The guacamole is yummy, and I adore their chips. I've had brunch, lunch, and dinner there. For brunch, I've had their huevos rancheros, which are actually quite tasty (and largely portioned). I've had several items off the lunch and dinner menus, but I usually just go for the fish tacos (mahi mahi fish). I'm a little biased because I've had much better fish tacos in California and at another place nearby, but Pico's fish tacos are a decent substitute for helping me to quench my fish taco cravings. As far as desserts go, their bread pudding with ice cream is the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, I often find that my food is cold when it gets to the table. It's pretty pricey for what they're giving you, and I'm not sure the food is really worth that much, but it makes for a good night out. As for the service, it's hit or miss. It really depends on who's waiting on you. Once I was there for lunch when my table of two was the only table there, and we waited a ridiculous amount of time for our food (which was lukewarm when it got to us). On that one, I'm not sure if the kitchen screwed up or the waiter. Additionally, the young waiter seemed very impatient with my grandpa, with whom I was lunching, which struck a nerve with me. I've been there several other times where the service was poor, but I've also had some good dining experiences there. For whatever reason, I've always had good service from them during brunch. I don't really drink, but I have also sat at the bar with friends, and there is one bartender there who is extremely personable and attentive to all his customers. Pico is definitely worth trying at least once. And they deliver now too, which is a plus. read more

WOW. was looking for a decent margarita and chips/guacamole after a hot beach day. Found Pico's and decided to give it a shot... BLOWN AWAY. Love! Delicious food and great service. Had the 2 taco lunch special. Yummy smoked chicken, brisket, and guacamole. I wish I could take home bags of the homemade chips. Great atmosphere in the Bar. Lighting is a little harsh in the main dining room during the day, but I imagine the strung lights make it pretty in the evening. The server could not have been more attentive and nice. read more

S-L-A-M-M-I-N' good. the hubs & i were visiting his sis & her hubs on the east coast & we had a grownies night out at pico rbny. and again, the food was amazingly delish. both the hubs & i have grown up with mexican food living on the west coast but pico rbny has it going on. never would i have expected such awesome mexican food east of the mississippi but man, oh man, it was good. some things to try: the guacamole with lump crab - so good we hoarded it at our end of the table & refused to pass it down. succulent crab enveloped in creamy fresh avocado with crispy salted tortilla chips? si, por favor. margaritas in a mason jar - so so so good if you add a dash of their sangria. have 2. and you're welcome. or de nada as they say south of the border. the house burger - usually i would not go for a 'burg at a mexi joint but my sis-in-law recommended it. with a habanero cheese & a slathering of that lump crab guacamole it was almost as good a burger at my all time fav burger joint umami. and accompanied by a side of crispy seasoned french fries! great, simple atmosphere, attentive service, nice plating of food & perfect sized portions. plus pico rbny had a ipa beer that the hubs had been dying to try for years - resin. saddle up your donkey or your suv & get your hungry self to pico rbny pronto! read more

Excellent original Mexican food and drinks along with a Tequila selection that can get you in trouble it's so good . Guacamole tastes like its homemade and the soups are never disappointing if they have them. Enjoy the shrimp and barbecue tacos the most and have also had the steak diner which was really good and a huge portion .Chris is a cool manager on his game and also knows his tap beer and tequila .Staff is attentive and very profession a rarity in Rockaway . read more

I'll start by saying the service here is great and the sangria was AMAZING. However, the food was okay at best. I got the vegetable taco and it was literally just broccoli (which is a weird choice for a taco) and the shrimp taco that was okay. My friends said the fish taco was also "okay". read more

I went here last week for dinner, two couples. They were quick to take a drink order and tell us what they didn't have on the menu. Once dinner arrived, three meals came out while one of us sat waiting, and waiting. We were told it would be out in a minute. We waited as our dinners got cold then started to eat. We were almost done when the last meal came out. This I consider waiting more then a minute. They lack in customer service because they have no other competition to worry about. If I am going out and spending that kind of money on dinner , I would like to eat with the company I came with. With all the great places that have opened in Rockaway, I won't be coming back here anytime soon. read more

My family and I really like Pico but have been disappointed in the quality of the pulled pork. For the past year, the pulled pork has been dry, tough, and not flavorful. It used to be so juicy and moist. When we ordered in one night, we asked for extra juice or if there was a way to add more juice while cooking. The woman who took our order told us that it is taken out and grilled and there is no way to put more juice. Please go back to making it juicy, it used to be amazing!! read more

Pico has quickly become my favorite place to eat in Rockaway. Service is always quick and friendly and I haven't had a bad meal yet. Food is always fresh. Guac is simple and on point. Food looked great, but i went there to try some of the drinks. It was a saturday night and i was greeted by two of the most handsome bartenders i have ever seen. they were playfully arguing over who makes the better "fires out," a margarita with a jalepeno kick. I tried both, and they were both winners. they issued each other a firm high five and winked at me in unison. There were several beers on tap, and i was told that they are rotated consistently. the bartender that looked like a casual jesus recommended the alagash white. i had three and was very happy As the night wore on, i noticed a never ending flow of regular rockaway folk coming in and out. Very friendly vibe. I met some funny characters. There was a guy who called himself JR who was telling funny jokes and trying to sell me a 2003 bmw. I was running low on money and the alec baldwin looking bartender with the cute spiky hair told me that they sell tecate cans for 4 dollars. The price was right! Place was a blast. Im looking forward to seeing how it shapes up for the summer. The frozen machine was pumping in February. I can't wait to see what it does in July. read more

For Rockaway this place is great! They did an awesome job with the interior. The ambiance is very nice and the drinks are great. I enjoyed the food. It was the best ever but it was pretty good. Everything did seem to have a bit of a smokey flavor which I didn't love. I would definitely go back again. It is a nice place for a date or even to hang out with friends. I hope they stick around for a while. We need more cool places like this in rockaway. read more

Great place to go after a day at the beach! Many folks are there dining and enjoying happy hour in their bathing suits and beach gear- very laid back vibe. Super nice bartenders, good beer selection, and awesome happy hour prices. Try the Taco flight (you get to try all six of their tacos for a great price). Great, fresh Mexican restaurant near the beach. Very nice menu, both food and drink. Started with some beers and a great margarita, and some guacamole & chips. For dinner we had a couple different tacos which were delicious and fresh. The sides of rice & beans also include a unique coleslaw - a nice surprise. Unfortunately didn't have room for dessert, though hear the bread pudding is also excellent. The bar had only two or three empty stools and we had to wait 5-10 minutes for a table at 9p on a Wednesday in March; a great sign for a restaurant at the beach. Service was great and our server was Pauline, she was very pleasant. It seemed there was a missing hostess and possibly a missing server, but we would have never realized had we not struck up a conversation with the staff. read more

I must say, this place is now one of my favorite spots on the rockaway peninsula. (aside from the usual hangover bacon egg & cheese from boardwalk bagels).. the frozen margarita topped off with a splash of Champagne was delicious and went really well with the taco train entrée. The taco train entrée was enough to fill me and my gf up after walking in to the restaurant with a fairly strong appetite.. we also got the chicken quesadilla but couldn't finish it because we were already stuffed.. The service was great and the setting was comfortable. We sat in the back where they have a nice long cushioned bench with round table in the corner. It seemed to be a little bit of a slow night for the kitchen so we got our food within 10 to 15 minutes after ordering it. Overall I would highly recommend this place for either a few cocktails and/or a nice dinner in Rockaway. read more

honestly I cant even begin to explain how much I love this place. The tacos are on point , my absolute thing here is the Cesar Salad. Its to die for!. Anything on the menu is great they always have an amazing selection of beers. Chips and Guacamole and shrimp empanadas are the best app choices. My favorite taco is the Pastrami taco, Even better is the BRUNCH! a pitcher of bloody marys or marias- maria has tequila 10$ truth i drink a pitcher myself its sooo good. Although you can grab some Mexican food at the concessions (summer only) this is the place to go for a real meal, not just a snack served on a cardboard tray. Staff is friendly, food is affordable. So as a vegan, Mexican is always an easy go to. I tried Pico last night for the first time. MEH. No one to seat you for starters. I ordered guacamole and it was bland; needed salt, jualapenos, and lime! Next is a veggie burrito without cheese which came with a side of rice and beans. I've never had bad rice EVER..... why serve a meatless meal with rice that's cooked/seasoned with chorizo?!!! It was disgusting! Then the burrito was beans and string beans... I mean cmon string means!?? What happ to onions and peppers? I understand you are not a traditional Mexican restaurant but cmon... I will not be returning. read more
