House and Hot Sausages $8 (ground and made in house)

FINALLY! LEGIT BAY AREA BBQ The Bay Area bbq scene leaves much to be desired, especially for aficionados from Texas, Kansas City or other serious BBQ states Fortunately, for the Bay Area, a handful of chefs have stepped up to fill the void and among the most prominent on the Peninsula is Pitmaster Russell Savage (Breakwater BBQ in El Granada is another) Located at the Port in Redwood City, Pico's BBQ is helmed by Russell and is only open 1 day a week on Saturday from noon until sold out And sell out he does, routinely, usually by 3 PM and, with recent press and exposure, I expect that to only happen earlier and more frequently (they sold out in record time today ~ 2 PM) Pico's has outgrown their food truck operation and is looking for a permanent space, but until then, there's something quintessentially legit about only opening limited hours, smoking and cutting fresh to order, and selling out daily I've been to too many traditional Peninsula BBQ restaurants or chains open long hours and that product will never be THIS caliber...Pico's is doing it the right way The menu is limited but I loved everything I had including the tender and juicy brisket (you do Terry Black's justice), phenomenal pork ribs and house-made sausages (house or hot) Standing in a long line is a bit of a communal experience and BBQ line waiting is especially so given the scarcity locally. I loved talking to others about their favorite spots and hearing even Russell join in the recommendations (while sharing some burnt ends YES!) I'm no BBQ expert but have been to enough places in Texas (Franklin's, Pecan Lodge, Slow Hand, and Terry Black's) to say Pico's deserves to be in the conversation and is the first CA place I've strongly felt deserved so Thanks for coming to Redwood City Pitmaster Russell and I'm excited to see you really take off! Old Yeller $34 ~ 1/3 lb brisket, ribs, 1 house sausage, potato salad and creamy cucumber salad sided / 1/2 lb brisket $18 / Hot Link $8 Pico's BBQ (Redwood City, CA) Limited outdoor tables are available. Lines range in length from 40 minutes to over 1 hour. Credit cards including AmEx are accepted.

Top tier Central Texas style bbq in the Bay! Texas BBQ is all about keeping it simple and letting the meat, smoke, and pitmaster's talent shine and Pico's definitely does just that and Russell definitely has the talent. The brisket is up there with the best I've ever had. As a bit of a flat (lean) brisket hater, this one was delectable. The point was extra succulent. Great tenderness on both, well rounded smoke flavor, and nicely seasoned. While the brisket is what I came for, the ribs and links were a stellar surprise. The rib had a great balance of tenderness while still being meaty. As with the brisket, great smoke flavor. The links had excellent snap and weren't overwhelmingly salty or seasoned as I've found a lot of smoked links can be. Sides were simple, but well done. Would gladly get them again. The location is a bit random but it's worth the time and effort to get quality the likes of Franklin's and Terry Blacks of Austin down here on the peninsula.

Easily the best spot for Texas-style BBQ in the Bay! We've been twice since they opened about a month ago and will definitely be coming back. Everything is great! The brisket is juicy, the links are snappy and flavorful, and the pork ribs are perfectly tender. The potato salad is perfect --don't forget to get it! Sides like pickles, onions, and BBQ sauce are self-serve, and the pickles are especially good. The location is tucked behind a parking lot, so it might be a little tricky to find, but trust the process and follow your GPS--it's worth it! There are also three picnic tables set up if you want to eat there. If you're a BBQ lover, this spot is a must-try!

If you're a BBQ fan living anywhere on the Peninsula, do yourself a favor and make a beeline to Pico's BBQ in Redwood City. We were told to come here by one of the guys at Goldee's in Texas. This spot deserves all the stars--five, to be exact. We came about 15 min before opening on Saturday and were immediately welcomed by Russell, who might just be the most hospitable pitmaster on this side of the Bay. Friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about his craft, he chatted with folks in line and even handed out meat samples while we waited. It definitely set the tone for an awesome meal. We ordered a mix of the classics: brisket, ribs, and sausage, along with sides of beans and potato salad. The ribs stole the show, fall-off-the-bone tender with that perfect smoky bark and just the right amount of seasoning. The brisket was juicy and flavorful with a beautiful smoke ring, and the sausage had a satisfying snap and spice. The sides didn't play second fiddle either. The beans were smoky and rich, and the potato salad had that creamy, tangy comfort-food factor we all crave. The love and time Russell puts into his BBQ really comes through. This isn't just food, it's craft. And it's clear he takes pride in both his food and his customers. This is the kind of place you want to tell your friends about... but also kind of want to keep secret because it's that good. Pico's is our new favorite place for BBQ outside of Texas. Highly, highly recommended.

If you don't want to go to the East Bay for Horn, this great place is comparable! 3 friends from Texas that smoked on their own meats back there and got together in the Bay Area serving us delicious Texas BBQ. Pork Ribs: Great candy coating that I have for dessert. Brisket: Sorry, it's hiding under the Ribs. Beautiful Ring and smoky flavor. Sausages: Homemade and can't go wrong. Definitely worth the trip!!

    Best ever. Bar none.

Best ever. Bar none. Likely in the entire country. Russell is a mad scientist & meat whisperer! I typically can't eat a lot of BBQ because I'll feel the meat sweats, a heavy belly or just dehydrated after a couple slabs of something. I don't know how Picos does it but I could eat pounds and pounds of their stuff. The succulence and juiciness is on another level and I swear I could cut the meats with my gums (a plastic knife goes through the brisket like a steel knife on melted butter)

Incredible Texas style BBQ at Pico's, easily the best brisket we've found in the bay area thus far (I've tried my fair share believe me). Links are snappy, juicy and flavorful, and the ribs are perfectly cooked. The owner previously worked at Terry Black's, so there's definitely some pedigree here and it shows. It's a small operation so the menu isn't extensive but we've tried everything and there are absolutely no misses. Don't skip on the sides either, the potato salad is excellent. Great friendly service, they gave out samples of the sausage to the line and had a chance to chat a bit with the owner Russell once they shut down for the day. They open at 12 on saturdays until they run out, so get there early.

    Handing out samples

Yummy BBQ. Be there early. I was there at 11:30 (opens at noon) and there was already a long line. Also wear sunscreen and expect a long wait because they are SLOOOOOOW. I got my food at 1pm.

Single sides of creamy cucumbers, pinto beans, and potato salad

Best BBQ in the bay! We got 1 lb of brisket which was about 3 thick slices. So juicy and tender! The sides were all very solid, but my favorite was the potato salad which sold out quickly. They are open from noon to sell out, and were sold out of all sides by 1:45pm. There's some picnic tables for seating as well with country music for the vibes. The staff were super friendly and even gave us pieces of burnt ends while we waited in line! A great sample before our delicious meal! Housemade BBQ sauce was tangy and delicious. We will definitely be back and can't wait to try their other meats!

Russell just secured his new place right here on Seaport CT next to Sequoia YC and Spinnaker sailing. Looking forward to eating some great BBQ on Saturday June 7th! Rock the Dock RWC music scene on Saturdays will be happy to have a new addition to our weekend food selection!!! Expecting a 5 Star experience from our Menlo Park transplant. Welcome Russell !!!

The best BBQ in the Bay! Service is incredible, got to speak with Russell the owner of Pico's. Love the Texas feel with the communal picnic tables. The brisket is so tender and juicy, ribs were spectacular but you have to try his homemade sausage, loved the hot link and house link was incredible too! The sides were amazing as well, the creamy cukes were a nice balance to cut through the heavy meat. If you haven't already come check out Pico's, you're in for a real treat!

We parked right out front. Parking can be a little challenging, but it's definitely manageable. We walked in around 5:15 PM on a Sunday and found the place completely to ourselves, which makes sense since it's still fairly new. We were greeted by a tall young gentleman at the register who was friendly and welcoming. The menu was organized and specialized, which I really appreciated. Large menus can be overwhelming, and this one felt thoughtfully curated. I ordered two asada tacos, and so did my wife. As we waited, we enjoyed the sweet sounds of Luis Miguel and José José playing in the background. About five minutes later, our food arrived. The gentleman from the register personally brought it over with a great attitude and excellent service. My first impression was how colorful the tacos looked, with vibrant pink and green hues from the toppings. The tortillas had a perfect balance of crispness and softness, while the meat appeared both crispy and tender. I made my way over to the salsa bar and found it clean, well-stocked, and filled with a variety of house-made sauces. When I asked which salsa was the spiciest, one of the ladies in the kitchen pointed me toward the orange sauce. I also noticed some beautifully prepared pickled onions and habaneros--something I absolutely love. I added both to my plate and headed back to the table. After snapping a few pictures, I took my first bite with the orange salsa and the pickled onions and habaneros. My initial reaction was surprise--in the best way possible. The flavors were outstanding. The meat was tender with just the right amount of crispiness. The tortilla was hot, lightly fried, and still delicate. The orange salsa brought serious heat while remaining packed with flavor, and the onions and habaneros added a fresh, savory acidity that tied everything together perfectly. After that first bite, I knew I had made a mistake only ordering two tacos. They were that good. Before I even finished my plate, I walked back up and ordered three more asada tacos. My wife and I were genuinely impressed. The atmosphere was calm, refreshing, and inviting. We left extremely happy with both the food and the experience. We'll definitely be back to explore the rest of the menu. I wish this business nothing but success. This is exactly the kind of hard work, attention to detail, and passion that I love supporting. From start to finish, it was an excellent experience. The tacos were, without a doubt, ¡Ta' con madre!

I was able to try the Wagyu galbi (short ribs), dak galbi (marinated chicken), Seoul food bowl (stir-fried pork belly and shrimp), and japchae, served with their corn salad, kimchi, and white rice. The Wagyu galbi was very flavorful with a good amount of vegetables; though I enjoyed the inclusion of lotus root, the veggies seemed like borderline filler to skimp out on meat. The dak galbi was also flavorful though spicy, and again the inclusion of rice cakes seemed like filler. The pork belly and shrimp were delicious, and I liked that the pieces of pork belly I had didn't have an overpowering amount of fat. The japchae was pretty standard and was nice to balance out the meat. I enjoyed the corn salad because it added a creamy component to my meal. One thing that is a bit annoying is that there is no way to schedule or get an estimate of your order until after you pay. After clicking the deliver now button, the final eta was actually closer to 70min, but then was actually delivered in 30min. Ordered the Wagyu Galbi, Dak Galbi, SEOUL food, and japchae. The wagyu galbi was nice and tender. The Seoul and dak galbi had similar flavor profiles with the latter being a bit spicier. Note, when you look at your order details, it WONT list any of the sides (e.g. Japchae), which is very confusing. However, it is listed on the final receipt.
