Because the weather was cooperative, the windows of the enclosed patio and the bar were opened. Diners were able to sit at the bar in the patio area. The bar was initially staffed by a single bartender. Not only did she introduce herself, she also asked for my name. As I needed a menu, she asked the host for a stack for myself and other diners. A second employee, not as friendly, arrived sometime later to assist setting up the bar. There were some minor inconveniences arriving this early. Because I was the first to require a refill, the bartender had to get a coffee pot from the kitchen. Afterwards, she kept the pot at the bar. I decided on the Breakfast Egg Rolls. Not sure how something tagged "new" can be a house specialty. The breakfast jam lacked flavor. The egg rolls were saved due to the taste of the fried wontons. Of the two sauces, the maple syrup was better than the spicy hollandaise. The hollandaise lacked both heat and spiciness. When I was served coffee, I was not provided either cream nor sweeteners. As I did not notice any nearby, rather than wait to have the her return to the kitchen, I decided to give it a sip. Surprisingly, the coffee tasted great. Thick hot dog nestled in meatless chili, mustard and and diced white onions, surrounded by crinkly fries. With no hesitation I lunged into a heavenly bite. As I finished lapping it up , I discovered on the table the Happy Hour Menu. Note to self, please try. Starting at 3:00 pm and going until 11:00pm you can have pitchers of mimosas or beers with a smattering of bar food choices. I'm thinking of the Jalapeño Poppers. For the sweet tooth, there is a sweet co-mingling of either English - Sticky Toffee Pudding or Mexican -Churros. We understand there were several parties waiting, although from our table in the back corner we couldn't really see the crowd, and there had been plenty of open tables when we arrived. Even so, being asked to leave after only about an hour felt rushed and took away from what brunch is often about, relaxing and enjoying good company. I understand restaurants need to turn tables during busy times, but unless there's a posted seating limit, being asked to leave so soon wasn't something I've experienced before. It left us feeling like the focus had shifted from hospitality to table turnover. If you were to ask me about returning it would be a meh for me...food just ok and an inability to visit which is ultimately why we were there. With all of the brunch spots in the area, there are many others I'd recommend over this one. A little more flexibility, or simply allowing guests a bit more time to finish their coffee and conversation, would have made for a much more enjoyable experience and a slightly higher rating.
