    Vanilla Custard

Not familiar with South African cuisine, so I have been wanting to try this place for quite a while! I wanted to grab them frozen so I could order a few and try them slowly. I called the place as suggested by the website, and was guided through patiently what some of the items were, and what to order. Since I ordered the frozen ones, I was able to pick them up right away. Place is easy to find, and there is plenty of parking. They explained how to bake them at home, and I was on my way back home in no time. I ordered 4 savory pies, and one dessert one: Sausage Roll / Chicken and Mushroom / Beef Pasty / PieDog and their Vanilla Custard. I skipped lunch so I decided 2 of the savory ones were in order. I read that some people felt that they were small for the price: I did not think so. I could probably have done with just one honestly. Sausage Roll was amazing! Chicken and Mushroom was very flavorful but to me, the chicken was too dry. And finally, the Vanilla Custard was simply decadent! The custard was creamy, sweet (but not too sweet), and that sprinkle of Cinnamon on top just sealed the deal! If you are in the mood for something new, I highly recommend it! Check their website before ordering (they post the menu of the day). And if you want them baked / served hot, note that you will absolutely need to call ahead and then wait 30-45 min before you can pick them up! To me, buying frozen and baking at home was just the way to go!

First time here at Pie Boss!!

Having been raised on Swanson's chicken pot pie, I'm forever on the hunt for something that'll trigger those childhood memories. I know these pack a lot of calories but that's ok, eating an entire pie every now and then, should be fine (that's my non-medical opinion, by the way). Another interesting twist is that the owner is from South Africa, whut?! They make pies too?! Apparently they do. Due to COVID, they're only selling frozen pies for take out, unless you preorder a baked pie for pick up. So we decided on a chicken and beef pie and two smaller dessert pies - blueberry and peach. The instructions suggested that we add an egg wash (for the chicken and beef pies) on the top of the crust, to give it that golden look and that's a big plus. These pies came out beautifully!! I didn't get the same creaminess that I expected for the chicken pie and the beef pie was packed with beef. The dessert pies were fine but I'd probably order the bigger version next time. If I'm ever in the area once more, I'll keep the Pie Boss in mind and will try the other types.

I actually found this place on Yelp when I was browsing and looking for new places to try. I used to live in Aurora so it was not a far drive. They have a private parking lot so you don't have to worry about finding parking. Now, for the pies themselves they are not big. I had to eat at least 3 to fill up but they were delicious. I ordered the chicken and mushroom, cheeseburger, and pepper steak. They were well made and require 30-45 mins to cook. Prices have gone up, now it's in the range of like $7-9 something. Employees were very nice.

Stopped by to try out this highly rated restaurant. I discovered everything is carry out and one needs to preorder if you want food to be warm. I decided to buy frozen pies and some desserts to reheat at home.I purchased Spicy chicken pies a Chicken mushroom pie and a Beef Pasty. The Beef Pasty was my favorite. It tasted like my Mom's Pot Roast encased in a delicious crust. The Spicy Chicken was good I like spicy hot so I would have liked a bit more heat. The Chicken Mushroom was too bland for me.The crust on all the pies was amazing. The Deserts were small and tasted okay. I will return to try the Chicken Pot pie which was not available the day I dropped in. Solid home made comfort food!

We finally visited this place after it being on our list for more than a year!!! The pies were absolutely phenomenal!! We got the Mushroom Cheese pie, Spinach and Feta, Spicy chicken and chicken pot pie. Each and every pie was perfectly seasoned with no soggy bottoms Will definitely be back for more...and can't wait to try their dessert pies as well!!

Haven't been there since pre-pandemic, their pepper steak and spinach feta were flaky and tasty. Wished they had more selections as the flavor I would have like were not available that day. Please make sure to "pre-order" your pies in advance as they do not have any ready to eat on hand. Also wished they were closer to my location. Overall, the "homemade" pies were delicious.

    Wow I'm so impressed

Finally I found someone who speaks my kinda PIE language! Actual delicious meat pies! Emphasis savory not sweet, meat not fruit pies. Having grown up in New Zealand, a British colony, steak pies are a staple, but unfortunately they are non-existent here, or so I thought! Therefore I was super stoked to come across Pie Boss on Instagram randomly and it took me no time to find my way here, especially since they are in my neighborhood! Pie Boss took me back to Kiwi land and warmed my heart with their hearty pies! Great pastry too, the mark of a great pie, a must to complement the deep flavors found inside it. Cheers mate, you made my day!

The service was not good, the food was even worse, but the environment was calm and not busy. When we walked in, they told us to sit in the booth far to the window and we stayed there for like 20 minutes until we asked if we needed to come up in order and they said you can order by scanning at the table then we placed our order. The food took about 30 or so minutes the manager did give us garlic bread for waiting, but she said it was due to a party when the food came out all of our wings were dry and unseasoned. We literally could have went to Walmart and purchased a bag of frozen chicken wings and put them in the air fryer. How sad! And we love going to Nando's when we are in town.

Service was a tad slow even though it wasn't too busy but it was fine we weren't starving. Food finally came out and it was cooked to perfection! The chicken was nice and tender and had a nice flavor to it. We were able to spruce it up by adding some additional sauces that were located by the drink machines. There were loads of different sauces to choose from but my personal favorite was the garlic herb one. I wish we had nandos in the west coast because I would come here again and again!
