I walked by this place, and it was closed in the evening. Was delighted to find it at the farmers market. We got a cookie and pretzel bites. They were soft and fluffy pretzel bite. The cookie was delicious. I like it so much I think we'll have breakfast there tomorrow. Yummmm Don't get the bienenstich next time ( how many days old?) don't get the egg sandwich. The bagel is so so so hot from microwave it gets all gummy in mouth when cooled and you lose the texture. Why isn't it toasted ???Ham sandwich was meh compared to caputos Yes to the grocery ( check expiration dates) and the croillner holes. They even have filling. Wow. Super nice staff read more

Came here a couple times while visiting slc for a long weekend. I'm so jealous that they have a German bakery with near German bakery prices and quality. We got sandwiches, both of which were tasty, and some pastries. Service is super quick and kind. The bakery has some seating and also sells some German groceries. Got a half Ruben sandwich. Was piping hot and delicious. The crust was toasted very well but it needed something to cut the heartiness of the sandwich. Would definitely come back for it though! The cream cheese strudel was tasty, the pastries were pretty thick for the breading. Very fairly priced. Took it back to California and it survived so + points for that. Sadly, this bakery visit fell short of expectations. I visited from out of town and went here solely based on the good reviews online. I ordered a large pretzel with mustard, it was hard as a rock when I went to eat it 1/2 hour after purchasing. The cinnamon roll was stale and hard as well. I was so disappointed. These items were not edible. I would avoid this bakery like the plague. The young lady behind the counter should be ashamed for serving stale hard food to customers. read more

So happy to have found this awesome bakery specializing in German style goods. We went twice because it was so good. On our first trip, we loaded up with imported German delicacies and staples that are hard to find elsewhere. The pretzels are delicious and well made. All together we had their breakfast sandwiches, a Reuben sandwich, and a bratwurst on a pretzel roll. Everything was so tasty. The cappuccino was prepared exactly as I requested with extra foam. It was robust and not watery like so many are. The staff was silvery friendly and accommodating on both occasions. I wish we had a Vosen's in our town. I also asked what their top cold pastry was, and Bienenstich was recommended. It had cream in between two layers of cake and caramelized almonds on top. So good! Family owned atmosphere with a tasty selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The veggie breakfast sandwich was decent but the bienenstich was superb. It's basically a cream cake with a quarter inch thick caramel almond topping. The cream is the best I've ever tasted with a perfect consistency, not too heavy or too light. If it wasn't for the multiple health department violations I would give a higher score. Will return again though. read more

This place really has become a mainstay for me. It's sort of unremarkable in its appointment but I get in... I get out. People are always perfectly polite not overly, just perfectly polite and quick. I love clean fast but thorough interactions and this place excels at that, In addition to being friendly and no nonsense. The baked goods are exceptional, and they are genuinely German. There are a couple of highlights, their pumpkin chocolate chip bread and their blueberry strudel bread really are SO VERY VERY GOOD! The problem is I get up in the middle of the night and eat this stuff, but that's my problem not yours. They also have other products from the motherland that are fun to purchase and eat, especially around Christmas time. read more

Walked by this tiny place on early Saturday morning. It's about two blocks from hotel. Nice selection of imported goods from germany. Kind of reminded us of a tiny Aldi. Bought a large soft pretzel and an apple pastry. Sampled them in front of store, ended up going back in to buy a few more items: smaller salted pretzels and a cranberry loaf. All yummy and delicious, will definitely come back next time we are in town. read more

Great breads with many (many!) kinds of rye in addition to the usual. Lots of great and interesting pastries and baked goods. We tried the cheese pretzel stick, chocolate croiliner, Mohnkuchen, and a loaf of sourdough rye. All were good. The pastries were less sweet than others I've had (a good thing). And there are a lot of interesting German foods and candies to buy as well. Finally, thanks to the cashier who explained the different breads and pastries. Very helpful and patient. read more

I stopped in on a Sunday morning to get a sandwich to go for my flight so I didn't get a pic. I got the turkey club sandwich and for a $10 sandwich, it was really disappointing. Toppings of lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, and mayo were really skimpy and the meat didn't even fill out the bread. The bread also fell apart easily and made quite a mess. Service was very slow even though there weren't any orders in front of mine. Wouldn't waste my money on a sandwich here again. read more

Stopped in for breakfast and a coffee and everything was great! It's a nice quiet little shop that smells like all of the fresh pastries they're making. I got a breakfast sandwich, mocha, and a pastry and they kept giving me free extras. My coffee took maybe five minutes and they came out and said sorry for the wait (hardly a wait) and gave me another free pastry. I've been coming to Vosen's for nearly 25 years, and even though I live in California now, I try to stop in nearly every time I'm in Utah. It's a little slice of Germany tucked right into downtown Salt Lake. The Bienenstich is my all-time favorite--sweet, creamy, and perfectly balanced. I get one (or two) every time. Our first stop right after landing in Salt Lake City was this place because I wanted to try there Croliner It's a German bakery with a bunch of pastries, breads, , sandwiches and coffee. After looking at their display case, we ended up with 3 3 things to try: Raspberry Croliner (3.5/5) -- a fusion between the German donut and a croissant. I expected it to have the flakiness from the croissant but it was just soft. However, there was soooo much cream and jelly in there! It was still pretty good Plundershnecke (4/5) - it kinda looks like a cinnamon roll but it's not. But it was really good. Inside each little ring is filled with tasty custard and the outside is glazed with a nice sugary thing. The flavor was good. The texture was like a butterfly cookie but softer. Pretzel corner (5/5) -- pretzel/croissant fusion. This worked really well. You definitely get the texture of a croissant but the taste of a good pretzel. Definitely the favorite Overall, it was a good place to try, definitely would recommend coming to check there stuff out if you're in the area. read more

It has been years since I have been in the vicinity to get their bread. I really looked forward to it. It was Sunday, midday so the bread wasn't fresh out of the oven, maybe day old. I purchased a loaf of rye and one of whole wheat. Eagerly I cut open the rye and found a rancid smell. I took a small bite and, yes, indeed, it wasn't something to be eaten. The whole wheat loaf was very soft, almost Wonderbread soft. No flavor. The rye will go in the trash. The "whole wheat" can, possibly be transformed into bread pudding. read more

I'm glad I checked this place out for the pastries. It's much smaller than expected but they have a variety of treats from around the world. There's a cute little seating area inside too. I just came for a pastry which was well worth it- looked like a morning bun. I also ordered a small soup to go and it was served in plastic side dish container and seemed like from a can. It was really not worth the money. I felt like my soup was melting the plastic and it was maybe 3 big spoonfuls. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful so hence the 4 stars.
