Such a cute place to have a breakfast or brunch or just to get some pastries to go. I tried their egg/sausage/potatoes and ricotta blackberry that day and they were delicious. Next time I'll dine in for breakfast.

    The Parisian

My first time here and I would consider coming back. I would come back and try the lunch menu. Today I had the chorizo scramble and my wife had the Parisian. She gave it a thumbs up and said that the croissant held up to the collapsing, egg yolk, and the Dijon mustard added to the taste. She said the Gruyer was also a good cheese compliment. My scramble was good, but not overpowered by the chorizo. Fresh ingredients and the slaw on the side was also a very nice fresh compliment. The potatoes were not crisp the way I Prefer, but they were savory and buttery. As for the space, it was raining so we didn't utilize the space. I think inside there were roughly 6 or seven tables for two occupants each. It's a self serve place really so you place your order take the Flag to your table. They'll bring your food and that's about it. Lastly, we just got the house coffee, and that was a little below average especially since as I am writing this review I'm in the parking lot of peerless coffee where they really make good coffee.

Breakfast sandwich was good, pastries reliably good. Friendly staff and a cute little neighborhood spot. Why 3* then? Coffee was absolutely terrible - had bits of ground beans settled on the bottom. Was ok until I accidentally drank some of that then I literally spit coffee all over myself at the surprise of this burned gritty taste and texture.

Delicious iced coffee and pastries - they even have gluten-free scones. I enjoyed the raspberry pistachio pastry. We loved the outdoor seating (dog-friendly) as well! Great small location, we stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for a pick-me-up but I hear they are quite busy in the mornings. Staff was kind and answered our questions about the different pastries. Their protein power bowls are also pretty popular; you can add meat to them for a few dollars. The juices and smoothies are freshly homemade as well.

    Lunch box special

Cute! After hiking at Joaquin Miller Park, we wanted a quick, filling, healthy lunch so we stopped by L'acajou after finding them on Yelp. Parking: super easy. There's paid parking on the street in front. $3 per hour. They've got all the cafe staples: sandwiches, pastries, coffees, teas. They've even got some beers here if you're looking to hang out for awhile. When we arrived right after lunch time, a lot of their pastries were sold out too so come early for those. If you're stopping by during lunch, they offer a lunch box special with a burger, chips, & drink for $12. I went with the chicken sandwich on sourdough ($13). I liked it! It seems like the kind of sandwich that could be made at home - but in a good way. Like, it definitely seems fresh and I really liked the aioli they put on it. There was a good amount of chicken and it was well seasoned also. Felt very healthy and filling! A great stop if you'll be visiting the park or for a post-hike meal.

Came here for a quick bite to eat before headed to a nearby hike and it was the perfect spot. The food is delicious and affordable. We ordered a chicken sandwhich with avocado and a smash burger (only $9!). It felt like the kind of neighborhood cafe and bakery that's draws everyone in. Will come back again!

Been coming here since the early days of the pandemic. Good coffee, pastries, service & ambience! Nice outdoor seating with big umbrellas & cactus garden! Had scones this morning ... and cappuccino ...in a ceramic cup (ask for one if you are dining in!) - always a pleasure!

I like the small local vibe of this place. It's a bit pricey for such a casual atmosphere, but maybe that's the going price in SF. (We were visiting) Service was slow, but all the people were very nice. I like that they have a variety of creamers - like oat milk - on the counter, and liquid sweeteners too(like honey). A lot of the baked goods were delicious! Everyone loved the almond croissant! It's unfortunate that the breakfast danishes didn't live up to expectations- they looked so good, but the eggs were hard and rubbery, as was the bready parts. We tried 3 different ones on two different days. Everything else we tried was good. Since it's on the hill, it's convenient, so I'm sure I'll be visiting here again the next time I am in town!

    Quinoa salad

Ordered a quinoa salad with option for only 2 other ingredients besides the quinoa and chicken. For the price of $15, it's a sad salad (I added black beans and avocado) . There should be no charge for adding some veggies or including it in the recipe ie, kale or spinach, tomatoes and broccoli!

Whatever you order, make sure to add their hot sauce! It definitely elevated each dish! The ambiance of the place was kind of boho chic and it was relatively empty at around 12:30pm on a Thursday. Service was nice, our waitress was prompt and paid a good amount of attention to us. I feel like they are a bit understaffed though, but that might be due to business being slower than usual during the time we went. Yes, I tried it over a dozen years ago and have little recollection of my dining experience (review: https://yelp.to/8rBLt3xnAB). Probably just as well because this was our first time at this location. We came on a Saturday afternoon looking for a late lunch. It was a nice space with interesting decorating touches like a collage of vintage photos and magazine clippings in a ribbon-like pattern on the gray wall (Photo 6). The place was almost empty, which allowed us to take the corner table next to the window. The menu looked like a slightly upmarket take on Vietnamese fare. We decided to share a couple of dishes since we had tentative dinner plans later. We ordered the $17 Shrimp Papaya Salad, a decent enough mix of green papaya and carrots in decorative latticed slices, crispy allium, herbs, and six poached shrimp, drenched in a spicy fish sauce vinaigrette and topped with peanuts and Thai basil (Photo 9). Tasty but a bit bland and wet. We then shared the $25 Fried Chicken characterized as chicken tempura, but the execution was lacking. It consisted of slices of thigh meat covered in a rather moist coating. There was fermented soy aioli and a side of pickled daikon, carrot and cabbage slaw in miso soy dressing (Photo 10). Even though the thigh meat was welcome, the dish didn't quite hang together. At the same time, the ingredients were fresh, and frankly other menu options might've improved our satisfaction. As a result, it took a while for them to be able to stop by our table and provide water, take our order, etc. There was quite a long wait between sitting down to ordering to actually receiving our food. By the time we had actually received our food, almost an hour had passed. While we were waiting, a few other servers eventually joined, but service was still pretty bare for us and we never received refills on water or plates to eat off of when we received our food. I understand that staffing and a backup in the kitchen are out of the staff's control, but it would've definitely helped for us to know in advance how long to expect to wait to align our expectations and arrange our plans for the day. Would advise giving customers a quick heads up/warning because that on its own would've made a big difference. As for the actual food, we ordered the mac trio with elote mac, chicken pot pie mac, and kogi short rib mac (for an extra fee). The elote mac was the best and most flavorful, the short rib mac was okay but not amazing or worth the extra money, and the chicken pot pie mac was very bland/flavorless and didn't have much chicken in it. The food didn't feel like it warranted the wait time and because of that I would not return.

The smashed patties are perfectly cooked and seasoned. The supporting elements are quality and executed spot-on each time: the cheese, grilled onions, and mayo. It's a perfect fast casual burger. I also recently tried the Chopped Beef burger and dang it was amazing. The hearty meat and cheese the and buttery bread texture hit hard. This will be another go-to and I recommend it. For sides I've gotten tator tots, regular fries, and season fries. All fantastic and they're generous with the portions. HOWEVER -- you've gotta get the seasoned fries. Addictive and finger-licking amazing. When dining in staff is always friendly. Area's not too busy and you'll always find parking easily down a side street. And price wise it honestly feels like a steal for me given the care and quality and pure satisfaction. Works for me though -- I'm going to keep ordering from this place. Cannot recommend this gem of a burger joint enough. Fantastic seasoning and execution, solid prices, and absolutely satisfying every time.
