Tried this after reading a couple of reviews on yelp. Some bad reviews were older. We were seated within minutes of walking in. Sat outside on patio with large table umbrellas. It is true that there are cats but mostly looking for shade in the corner and asleep. Hostess came by few mind after being seated to ensure our drink order was taken. Honestly that was really great. Ordered calamari to start. It was breaded in corn meal and literally hot out of fryer. Tastiest calamari I've had in a while and large too! Serving was large but so was each squid piece. Ordered Shrimp Bonanza to split with my other half. 36 shrimp were butterflied, grilled or battered with the MOST delicious charred broccoli. Damn. I'd return just for the broccoli. Bonanza was enough to fill 2 people up with the sides of broccoli, cole slaw, corn and red potato. Linda was a great waitress. She was very attentive and quick to refill our tea/water before we asked. 3.5/5 because food was great, our waitress was great BUT the place is dated and doesn't allow you to substitute sides. While we waited for entree, party of 5 tourists were being seated. Upon asking if they could sit closer to water view the hostess said it was for parties of 6 or more. Not but 6 minutes later a different hostess sat a party of 4 at that same requested 6 top. Then same girl sat a party of THREE at a neighboring 6 top. It seemed very unfair considering these tourists keep the restaurant in business. We didn't have a bad experience but little things like that lead to poor star ratings and wanting to leave for others. read more

Checking in became a disaster, I came as a party of 4 and an hour later heard my name called for a party of 2. I checked with the fill-in host to make sure that wasn't a mistake. She scanned the papers, my name was the only one on there, no duplicates, but the original host put me down as a party of 2. This confused the fill-in host, which is understandable, I can see how somebody would try and get ahead in line when there's a 1 hour wait. She handled it like a pro and sat us at the next available table, but I wish I had taken it as a sign of what was to come. Our waitress was as friendly as could be. Courteous, talkative, informative, top notch. The food on the other hand was not. 3 of us ordered the Macho Gumbo and one of us ordered the catch of the day fish burger. For starters the fish burger is simply a filet of fish cooked how you like thrown onto a hamburger bun with some fixings on the side. Some.brown around the edges lettuce, a tomato, pickles, and onion. I was told it was very dry and looked unappetizing. The Macho gumbo comes with snow crab legs, a piece of fish, 3 peel and eat shrimp, and some rice on a plate of gumbo. The crab wasn't bad, but I don't eat crab often so some may beg to differ. The shrimp were tasteless, and the fish was nice and flaky but missing on of the plates. The gumbo had great flavor but my plate was obviously scraped from the bottom of the pot as there were some black burnt bits mixed in that were completely inedible. All in all, not worth the $100 bill I had to foot. read more

I was a kid the last time I came to this restaurant, not much has changed. I do remember enjoying the food and atmosphere then so I wanted to make another visit. First parking was free then, but not a big deal. We finally got a table and I love raw oysters on a half shell, they had none. So we decided to order calamari, it was burnt and not appetizing at all. My wife order a Mexican shrimp cocktail (sounded delicious), they had none. We ordered a Dos X dressed, they had no limes. My daughters chicken tenders weren't tenders and a bit cooked too long. Was super excited to go and enjoy the atmosphere and food after reading other reviews, but I was super disappointed. The wait was about an hour and half is what the hostess told us when we got there, which it was Labor Day weekend so I totally understood that. They had a place to sit out front and wait, where we could see inside the restaurant as well. It took staff forever to clean tables off, some tables set dirty for at least 10-15 mins ... tables that could sit 8-9 people only had 2 people sitting there. We literally waited 2 hours because the staff couldn't clean tables, and kept sitting 2 people at big tables when they could have set us (party of 4). We should have left at this time after waiting so long, but we really based our thoughts on previous reviews. We finally got to a table, waitress was nice and friendly, very apologetic for the wait. We placed our order, when food finally came out it was horrible. Cold and just not very appetizing. After waiting more than 2 hours for a table, we were starving and we were not satisfied at all. We actually went to Whataburger after. Maybe this place was just too overwhelmed with the Labor Day weekend, but won't be going back if we come back to Corpus. read more

My family and I took a family trip to Corpus Christi for my birthday. We stayed at The Capri hotel so Pier 99 was super convenient. It was right next door. Not only do they have a menu for puppies but the food was delicious. We did not have the opportunity to eat at the location since my dog was having a hard time with the heat. We did however order food to go. They were super fast and helpful. We recommend the cheeseburgers, fries extra seasoned (we had to ask) and the seafood boil (crab leg/shrimp). Our puppy really enjoyed the beef and rice meal. We went all out and got her the noodle meal on our last day. We will have to come back and enjoy the scenery one day. read more

We are from out of town and visited the Texas State Aquarium and exuded to try Pier 99. The menu looked appetizing and reviews were good. We ordered the Seafood Queso which came out cold and it was bland with barely any seafood. I wanted to try something new and so I ordered the Ceviche. It seemed more like Pico de Gallo with a few bits of shrimp. It was terrible. My friend ordered the shrimp and fish basket and he didn't like his food either. Came here for dinner while staying in Corpus Christi. The restraunt is great because it has a wonderful outside seating area where the USS Lexington can be seen. There was also a stage for live music as well. The bathrooms were a bit difficult to find but workers directed us. Staff is nice, this place is pretty laid back though. Drinks were good. Our appetizer took a while to come out so the entres came very soon after our app did. I think this is a great place to go to once, so that you can see the view, I would come here for drinks more than I would the food. Definitely more of a location destination spot than a foodie spot, but it is gorgeous! read more

I have a food allergy to dairy and the staff at pier 99 was amazing handling it. We went on Friday and Saturday and on Friday I got the grilled flounder with the Baja sauce and it was very good. On Saturday I got the seafood boil and the kitchen staff remembered me and brought out the food and reassured me they boiled it in water and added seasoning afterwards. I was really impressed with how well they handled my allergy and how great the food was. The live music on Saturday was also nice to sit outside and enjoy great food. read more

All together we had a horrible experience. Most important is the fact that their best menu item Red Snapper with crawfish sauce was absolutely awful. I had never seen fish meat so taught. It was like chewing on leather. I only ate one bite and pushed it away. When they asked why I didn't eat, I said it's tough meat none chewable. I paid with a credit card and they charged me $2.43 for credit card payment. The waiter is a nearly 70 year old grumpy dude that doesn't give a damn. Every where you look is just dirty not to mention the dilapidated ugly old building. The only good thing I can say about them is that my Coors Light beer was cold and their location is on the water. I was between Pier 99 and another restaurant nearby. I ended up choosing Pier 99, despite almost a star less than the other one, due to its location. About half a block before arriving, I could already smell the food and it smelled amazing. However, there was a 2-3 hour wait! Hostess said we could try the back area (without a view) so we did. There were only 2 occupied tables, and probably 6 open tables. We tried to sit and eat in the back (we could always walk up front later for a view), but we were told we couldn't eat in there and only order take out. I didn't really see a reason why and I doubt it was COVID related as the main dining area was packed. Either way, she was just doing her job so we ordered take out. I had the snapper with crawfish sauce. I truly enjoyed it, even if I ate it out of a Styrofoam box sitting on the concrete bench on the sidewalk. We got alfredo and seafood boil. definitely recommend the seafood boil but alfredo wasn't the best. service wasn't horrible but wasn't great. also our meal said they would come with sides and they didn't which was disappointing.. menu wasn't true. but the cocktails were good! the experience of the outside isn't bad. nice view of the Lexington. but the pier is really high so it's hard to see while you're eating. higher tables would be good :) but not a bad experience!! 7/10! read more

Stopped here because I had to get something to eat after leaving Landry's. Figured I could get a drink so went straight to the bar but there was plenty of seating. Live music was being played and the atmosphere was pretty chill. Had a burger and it was pretty good(add the sourdough bread). A great place for seafood. Atmosphere is friendly and so are the staff. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants seafood.

Super pet friendly patio! They even have a menu just for pups. Our bigger "pups" enjoyed the view and are huge fans of the whole fried fish. It was cooked perfectly. The broccoli had an "off" flavor though. Almost as if it was cooked in beer. The snapper with crawfish sauce was okay, nothing to rave about though. We will stick to the whole fish next time. We decided to try a local spot for fresh seafood. Sadly, this wasn't it. Aside from the slow service and a waitress who continually whispered, the food was disappointing. I had the fried fish/shrimp platter. The breading on the shrimp was wet because they use frozen shrimp (I confirmed this with the manager). The fried fish had little flavor and no texture. The coleslaw was inedible and the fries were just so so. My friend had the Macho Gumbo. The crab leg was good and tasty, but the roux of the gumbo tasted burnt and gritty and the blackened fish was flavorless. Throw in a less than mediocre piano player/singer and it was a forgettable experience. The only good part was that the manager comped the shrimp on my meal. Would not recommend. Being right on the water, there is no excuse for frozen seafood. read more

Everything else was delicious! My fiancé had the seafood boil which came with crab legs, shrimp, potatoes, sausage & corn on the cob. So yummy! I had the 1/2lb burger (yes I know this is a seafood place) which was well seasoned & juicy. The bartender made our drinks to perfection as well! We showed up around 1:15pm & waited about 20 minutes for a table. You can choose to sit inside or outside on the patio area. The inside was crowded, very hot/humid, and smelled funky. We didn't make it past the hostess stand this trip and we came across the most RUDE, disgusting employee I've ever made contact with. The looks and snarls they gave us the 45 minutes we waited. And then right before they said they were going to seat us, they told us how their credit card machine was down and it was cash only. We asked if it was only the bar or the restaurant too and the hostess told US to go ask. We started with fried calamari which was hot and crispy and good mix of rings and legs. Lunch was fried fish and shrimp. Both well cooked and cocktail and tartar sauces were flavorful. There was live entertainment at noon on a Friday and before that 80s greatest hits. The only downside was the PVC and 1x6 chairs were not of equal height so some chairs were too short for the tables. Got appetizers and drinks, appetizers were terrible and seemed to be freezer burnt. Put in our food order and looked around to see that NOBODY had their food that had been there before we sat down. We got cold so we got up and made the decision to cancel our order and leave. Waited forever for 4 different staff members to find our server. Our server said our food was ready so we considered sitting back down. Found a manager through the bar staff who told us they lost our food dinner ticket and that they were sorry. Charged us fully for our drinks and appetizers for us to be able to leave (which I feel would have been nice to comp maybe one appetizer but no problem). We paid $70+ for two appetizers and a few beers. Our waitress apologized, but we won't be returning or recommending anyone to visit this restaurant. read more
