We were hesitant to to try as they have only been open 3 days but super glad we did. Food was excellent, staff was very personable/friendly and on-top of there game. My son ordered the build your own burger + bacon, then he devoured it and said it was the best burger he ever ate, I took a bite and wow... great burger no doubt will come back for this one, and try their Pier House Burger which looked amazing... Our waiter was amazing and the food was so good BUT... BUT... I found a shard of glass in my margarita and the owner came by, belittled me and "showed" me the salt that "I thought was glass" and in a very demeaning way asked "what would make you happy!?!" First of all I have had many a margarita and never had a) a chunk of salt crunch in my teeth like that B) an owner talk to me like a child Dude, a fresh marg would have been fine. Didn't need the teenage meltdown about my complaint. What a shame and I was embarrassed for him. We had lunch today at Pier House and we have only great things to say about our visit. Chappy the owner and Patrick our server were extremely welcoming and served us so well. We had the trout lunch special and it was delicious. The gumbo was also terrific. The suggestions made by Patrick were helpful and spot on. Get the Bushwhacker cocktail. We chose this restaurant because they took reservations. In the summer, on the gulf coast, you will wait 2+ hours to eat in a restaurant. We were robustly greeted by a very friendly gentleman who grandly escorted us to our table. The restaurant is new, decorated nicely, with murals and aesthetic paint choices. Our waitress was pretty frazzled due to being short staffed, which has become the norm post-COVID. We ordered our drinks and appetizers. The appetizers came before the drinks. We had the mixed oyster platter. The oysters were absolutely delicious. Next, 3 out of 4 of us received our meals. My sister gave me her salad to eat. Out of all of our meals, the salad was the best. It was fresh and crispy and the ranch dressing was delicious. I received my meal as the rest of my party finished theirs. I had the scallops with orzo pasta. You get four scallops on this meal. The meal was beautifully plated, but it had zero flavor. If I was blindfolded, I couldn't have told you what I was eating. There was no salt, no pepper, no garlic....no seasoning at all. This was true for all main dishes served. My hubby and sister had fried shrimp and they were rubbery and overcooked. For me, this restaurant needs to dim the lights a bit and teach the cooks about seasoning. The food seemed fresh and was again plated beautifully. It just tasted like paste. We never blame servers for the sins of the kitchen, so we definitely took care of our waitress. Unless you are looking just for oyster appetizers, I would pass on this restaurant. We both had the seafood platter. The platter had only four shrimp, four oysters, four calamari, one medium sized piece of fish, all covering a lot of French fries. The oysters were perfect, not overcooked & dry like some restaurants prepare them. The shrimp was very undercooked. I do not like to eat shrimp that are still limp/wiggly. The calamari was calamari. I am not normally a calamari fan but I did gave them a try. The fish was tasty but a bit overcooked & dry. The French fries, and there were a lot of French fries, were very undercooked, still soft & limp, and were almost tasteless without any seasoning. I would not go back but others may have had different dishes or different experiences... Good luck! read more

The presentation was great but almost no food for the money. 4 small scallops and rice for $32 and a soft shelled crab and potatoes for $32. Ordered a beer before the meal was ever served and never got it by the time I was done because they were busy. She said it had been ready but didn't have time to go get it. I canceled and left. One of the best spots we adventured to in Orange Beach! We came here on a whim since we were staying just down the road. The staff, hands down, exuding the meaning of Southern Hospitality. The food was impeccable, a little pricey, but WELL worth it - we had the calamari and Caesar salad for our appetizers, my partner had the lamb rack, and I had the shrimp and grits. We decided on the cheesecake egg rolls for dessert, and it was the best decision we made all night. Searching yelp for restaurants near our condo stumbled on the Pier house and decided to try it out. Best random chance ever! Lovely restaurant, friendly staff, but the food is amazing! Even at the beach I'm not a big seafood fan so I had the chicken and it was deliciously, everyone else in my party had something seafood and not a single complaint. Red snapper (I believe, it was a red something fish) was the special the day we came, the person in my group that ordered it couldn't stop talking about for the rest of the vacation. The raw oysters were excellent, and large. I was disappointed that the shrimp and grits had so much fat (maybe butter) that I had to dig the grits out from under, but the components were tasty. My husband's crab cake was blackened beyond edibility, but the rest of his crab 3 way was good. Will probably not return. read more

Our food here was good. The service was odd. Our server was not very attentive and food took a long time. The woman who owned the restaurant came to check on us and told us that our food had been ready and she didn't know why she didn't bring it out. This made some of us a little skeptical because food had been sitting out. They then proceed to let us know they were out of the gumbo when two of us ordered it. They also forgot to make a pasta and brought it out later. After we got our food our server came back hysterically crying at the table. The owner comes back to give us our checks and asks what everyone got and continues to talk bad about the server and mentioning "she will still get the tip". We thought the server had been fired or was leaving because she walked past with her bag and things while crying and we think she also mentioned to us she was fired but we couldn't understand. We were extremely confused. Overall, the food was pretty good but we were so confused on the service. It seemed that the other servers were fine. We honestly though we were being tricked. Very poor service, Unorganized, the staff looked miserable and like they didn't want to be there. The greeter was quite rude and made us move to walk by then came back to greet us. We were seated and waited 15 mins and never waited on. Repeatedly asked for a server and none came. A large group sat behind us and was immediately waited on for drinks. Our neighboring table had nothing nice to say about the food and commented that the previous group sitting at our table didn't eat their food and was complaining. My family is gluten free. What a treat to be able to eat FRIED gluten free shrimp and calamari (dedicated fryer). The chef clearly cares about his customers and seems to enjoy making the rounds to talk to everyone. We stopped here on our way into town one night and we're pleasantly surprised. Everything is made in house and we loved it so much, we returned two days later for lunch. Both meals were fantastic and their staff is amazing!! I had the shrimp appetizer, Caesar's salad and crab bisque and they were all to die for! My husbands had the crab on crab special and said it was fantastic. Our children had eaten previously but each got a dessert and loved them! The worst food in OBA by far. The seafood platter had been sitting under a heat lamp for several hours. The seafood pasta was cold and rubbery. Tuna was ordered medium rare however; it was served well done. Service was not any better. And, once we tried to provide some customer feedback we were totally ignored. We want restaurants to make it here but unfortunately this restaurant may not make it through the summer. They will have to depend on all the vacationers because the locals will not put up with it.
