Very nice restaruant. The bar area was super crowded and very loud, but there is pretty good space between it and the back dining area, so you can hear the noise of the bar, but it isn't overwhelming or distracting. The food here is fantastic. We ordered the spicy seafood pesto pasta, the lambchops with fettucini alfredo, and a baked potato. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. My favorite was the lambchops they were as easy to slice through as room temperature butter and the sauce they came with was incredible. read more

Wow. We drove from 35 minutes away to try a new place and we were blown away. The food is impeccable. Our party of 6 has the pesto pasta, the short ribs with polenta, prime rib, and appetizers. We also ordered sides of mashed potatoes (eh) and pesto pasta (AMAZING). The portions were generous and every one of us had to get a to-go box. We were stuffed but equally happy that we ordered dessert anyway. The bread pudding was our favorite but the apple crisp was also stellar. Kind of a steakhouse vibe but also casual dining. In the area for a ProbPickleball Tournament and staying in Elk Grove with family. Decided to go out for a birthday dinner with husband. We ordered full rack of ribs and vegetable side and bread to share. The ribs were fairly good with a mustard sauce and bbq sauce to add. We found this place and it looked pretty good. We got there and had to wait about 10 minutes. The place was pretty busy around the bar area. They sat us in the back restaurant where it was much quieter. The waitress was great. Grabbed our drink order right away and then came back and took our food order. Husband brought us here to celebrate my birthday. The have the bar area in front with the dining room area in the back with cozy booths with a nice ambiance. We had the farmer's special with polenta, the prime rib, pappardelle pasta, the fried calamari, and vegetable side. It was our first time here, and everything was amazing! Polenta was super creamy and well balanced with the meat. Husband loved the prime rib and horseradish. We both agreed though our favorite dish was the pasta! Great service too! JJ was our server, and the manager, Chris as well checked in on every table to make sure everyone was having a good experience. I haven't been to Brick House Restaurant in a few years, 4-5 years. For appearance sake it's the same. Brick building, older vintage vibes, nice interior, great parking and I love the talking security cameras and signs posted in the lot. I opted to sit in the bar and watch football, 49er's vs Sea Hawks. There was a group of men and two women there drinking and a collaborating about something, maybe fantasy football, IDK. They were a bit spicy but the bar wait staff handled it; they are on top of it which I appreciate. I was greeted immediately by a hostess offered dining room or bar seating; I chose a pub table in the car. The bar staff were very friendly and welcoming, attentive and represented the restaurant bar professionally. Big plus! I had hot, fresh baked bread served with garlic butter, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Delish! My main course was Beef Stroganoff, also excellent. Diet Pepsi was my beverage; bar staff kept my glass full and checked on me regularly. It was an excellent meal: hot, fresh and flavorful, huge portion with leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The meat beef was amazing. If you want soup or salad it's extra as was the bread. The meal plus a good tip seemed pricy especially for one person. But the cost of everything has gone up and I haven't been out for fine dining in sometime. I like to treat myself well, and this dinner was delicious and exactly what I needed. Friday June 12th my nephew choose this place to celebrate his Mom birthday. The atmosphere was nice. The food was good ordered beef stroganoff, seasonal risotto, the parm, pesto seafood and lamb chops. The service mediocre after we had our appetizers no dishes wasn't removed when our main food came out still no appetizers dishes weren't removed, the server might of had a bad day because the table behind us was complaining as well. I think it was over maybe 45 mins before we got our food so no pics of main dishes we were hungry. read more

Came here tonight for a Friendsmas Gathering for 6. They sat us in the front for the main dining space was reserved for a private party. We actually really loved where we were seated - by the decorated window, Christmas tree and had a spacious table and comfortable chairs. We ordered a the Calamari, Fried Zucchini, Meatballs, House Salad, Seafood Pasta, Loaf of bread with the trimmings. We ordered the lemon drop, some blood orange drink, and beer. Everything was on point :) we really enjoyed the Pesto Seafood Pasta and will highly recommend this dish. The sauce was perfection. Desserts were also yummy. We had the tiramisu and some kind of pie that was just heavenly Service was excellent and our was host - Lane (excuse the spelling) . She was attentive, kind and super sweet. The service wasn't just slow. It was a complete failure at nearly every step. We ordered three waters. Two showed up. Our server couldn't even scrounge up enough straws for the table, which turned out to be a preview of things to come. Then he vanished for ten minutes before taking our order. We asked for bread as an appetizer and explicitly requested it before our entrées. It never came. Not before the entrées. Not with the entrées. Not at all, while tables seated after us watched their food arrive without issue. Our server disappeared for stretches so long we started to wonder if he still worked there. No check-ins. No water refills. Nothing. When he finally resurfaced, the entire table was past the point of caring. We had to flag him down just to pay and leave, and even that didn't work. It took a different server, who could plainly see we'd been abandoned, to come take our bill. She showed more attentiveness in two minutes than our own server managed all night. $130+ for three people to be ignored. In this economy, at these prices, a restaurant has to earn every dollar, and Brickhouse couldn't be bothered to try. Years of loyalty, gone in one dinner. We will not be back, and I'd tell anyone considering it to spend their money somewhere that actually wants it. read more

My husband and I decided to come to Brick House for happy hour and I was super pleased with our appetizers and wine. We had the Pancetta Fries with Gorgonzola cheese which were amazingly delicious. The serving was huge! The potatoes had a nice crispness and they were oh so cheesy! Very rich and filling. Since we are cheese people, we also ordered the burrata bowl which was also very good. The burrata cheese melted in your mouth! It included grape tomatoes halved with Kalamata olives and capers so it had a nice brininess but was balanced with some balsamic glaze. Paired with toasted bread it came with, reminded me of a bruschetta dish. This all paired nicely with a glass of Sangiovese wine. The bartenders were all very friendly and I loved the feel of the bar. It was nice to have choices of high bar tables or the bar. Lots of locals in here so you know it's a good place! read more

Our first time at Brick House and definitely not our last! The manager, Mr. Chris Martin, was so kind and incredibly helpful -- you can tell he truly cares about his guests. The entire staff went above and beyond to stop by and say hello and make us feel welcomed, which really made the experience special. Had a wonderful dinner with friends here for Friendsmas. Restaurant was beautifully decorated. We were seated right next to the festive Christmas tree. We ordered the fried calamari & zucchini, braised meatballs, house salad, & pesto seafood pasta. All were so delicious but my absolute favorite is the pesto seafood pasta & the garlic butter. The pesto sauce was so creamy & the shrimp, calamari & salmon were perfect and so flavorful. For dessert, we ordered the Apple crisp & tiramisu. Loved both equally. Definitely a must try. Very poor service. We have dined here many times but tonight the service was so disappointing we will never go back. Server was very slow to take our order. As a party of three we asked for three waters and my son ordered a soda. Server brought only two waters. Server asked if we would like straws which we said yes but server forgot to bring them. My cocktail (a menu item) had zero garnish which was odd. We ordered a starter which never came. My husband and I both ran out of water which was never refilled and the only time we were checked on was right as the food was delivered and we hadn't even taken a bite yet. Food was ok but overshadowed by the inattentive service. The bill came and another server noticed we were ready to pay and processed the payment for us. Sadly, we will not be back. read more

I can't believe this is our first time here. Definitely not our last. We ordered: Bread- we scarfed this down like nobody's business. It comes with balsamic vinegar/olive oil and garlic butter. We had a heavy debate on ordering a 2nd. Kids fettuccini alfredo and kids spaghetti with meat sauce- very solid. Doesn't taste generic like other restaurants kids meals. Kids chicken strips with fries- these chicken strips are made with actual chicken! Not pink goo. My son said it's the best chicken nuggets he's ever had. Linguine with clams- I'm blown away. So flavorful with real clams. I haven't had pasta this good in a long time. Short ribs over polenta- the portion was ridiculous! Sooooo good and I'm glad I have leftovers for 2 additional meals. The short ribs were tender and flavorful. The polenta was smooth and cooked to perfection. Lavish lemon drop- strong and flavorful- loved that it wasn't overly sweet. It was perfect with notes of lavender. Chris, the manager, was absolutely amazing. Thank you for making our experience 100000x better. Brick House is as solid a restaurant as a literal brick house. We've been coming here for a few years, and love their Lodi location, as well. The manager, Chris, is a great guy with an easygoing demeanor. He really knows how to keep customers happy, and he's a happy person himself, which makes the place feel even more relaxed and special, especially for families. We are a family of four, and when this place isn't packed (it often is, especially Fridays and Saturdays) we are able to get a table (reservations recommended for weekends) and enjoy the food and the experience. This place is such a gem. They have been open 20 years and what an amazing staff they have. We went there last night for the first time and we loved every minute of it. The pictures will not be great because I took them 1/2 way through eating. The food: Gnocchi- top notch! Homemade and amazing! Dip sandwhich/ full of meat and on the garlic bread what a great touch! Beef stroganoff what a filling meal. Pesto shrimp was fabulous and it was a huge portion. The tomatoes were great. We had meatballs and fried zucchini. We loved both . We are new to the area and my husband and I were excited to try out this place because it's one of the more popular spots, especially in downtown. I got the fettuccine Alfredo and my husband got the chicken Parmesan. These are two dishes, in my opinion, that are hard to mess up. But our food was so bland, the cheese used had truly no flavor, and my husband's chicken parm didn't have a crisp to it at all. It tasted like it had been premade. I am tired of Italian places getting away with mid food just because it's generally cheap and easy for them to make. The service was also pretty bad, not terrible but certainly not standout. I wouldn't waste your money, I hate making this comparison but I genuinely would've preferred Olive Garden, and that comes with free soup, salad, and breadsticks. Bread here is $6. read more

This is a review of the Mother's Day brunch we went to yesterday. I leave long reviews, so skip if you don't like them! My husband & I live in the Monterey area, but our elderly moms live in Galt & Pioneer. So, with busy lives we decided to try & give them a Mother's Day they'd really like. I was searching up restaurants that were doing Mother's Day events in their area. I didn't want to do a buffet or be in a place that was going to be so packed no one could hear each other. Tough challenge. But I found the Mother's Day brunch event at the Brick House, so decided to make reservations. I personally liked that you had to leave a deposit to hold the reservation. That tells me they're serious about making sure it was not overcrowded. The menu was limited due to it being a special event, but the items to choose from seemed interesting. Plus the bottomless mimosas & bloody Mary's was a big bonus. Our reservation was at 10:15AM. I'll start off with the review by mentioning my dad. He is a grumpy old guy who doesn't get out much. I've had to "warn" wait staff to ignore him; that he's a grump & won't be paying the bill, we will, so to not let any comments phase them, & we will try to keep him in line. Luckily he doesn't know what yelp is! When we were reviewing the menu the night before, he made the comments, "weird menu, it will be crowded, bottomless drinks? That means they will come by one time with tiny glasses." So we arrive a little early but are immediately seated in a very quiet area with only a couple of other tables occupied. The Grumpy old man: "see. They stuck us where we won't get any service." As soon as we sat down our waitress came over & immediately wished us all a happy mother's Day & could she get us a Bloody Mary or mimosa & that they were bottomless. And that she'd also be bringing our pastry board. We ordered our drinks & my dad made the comments, loud enough for the waitress to hear, "ok girls. Your one small mimosa will be coming out along with cold donuts. you'll never be offered another one, so enjoy." Within a few minutes us moms got our mimosas. In large wine glasses, filled to the top. Grumpy old man got a Bloody Mary. Nice selection of Pastries were hot out of the oven. He Made the comment, "great, a weak drink." (He hadn't taken a sip yet.") We told the waitress we would need a few minutes to look at the menu, she said fine. No rush. She came back & saw my mom & dad were nearly done with their drinks. Offered another while she took our order. My dad replied: "no. I'm driving." Translation: it's a strong drink. We went to order & my dad ordered the eggs Benedict with pork belly. also muttering it sounded weird, and it would be a shame to throw out such expensive food. He ate every bite & told the waitress it was "ok." (He rarely eats all his food.) Translation: it was probably one of the best he's had. I had the vegetable quiche & it was very good. The mimosas kept being offered & were flowing for the moms well after our food was finished which for it being a special, reservation only event was a pleasant surprise. We finely told the waitress at round 4 us girls were done. The restaurant remained quiet & when we left, it was busy, but not overly so. The manager, Chris, was greeting people & wishing the moms a happy Mother's Day. We were there for a couple of hours & never felt rushed to leave. When the bill came & my husband went to pay it, my dad told him to make sure the tip wasn't included before not leaving one. The waitress had to put up with us girls Constantly getting mimosas without asking for them. Translation: he felt like he had a nice time, the waitress made sure us moms had a nice time & wanted to make sure she got a tip. Us girls decided that we wanted to come back for regular happy hour/dinner next time we visited. My dad grumbled that he'd have to come too so we'd have a ride back. Translation: he wants to come back. Lol It was pricey, but worth every penny for the wonderful Mother's Day we were able to give our older moms. I'd definitely do it again next year if they have it.
