From the two platters we ordered, mine was the better. Rib platter with two sides cost $23.99. The ribs were fall off the bone and had a nice smoke ring and were meaty. Flavor was ok. The side of potato salad was quite good, Mac & cheese had a good top. I asked for pickles and the cashier/waitress was nice enough to give me several at no charge. My husband had the beef brisket platter ($21.99) and as you can see from the photo some of the meat was chopped and other pieces were in slices. It was a mess. We weren't ask how he wanted it and there was no option on the menu for a choice of how to get it cut. Unfortunate ..as meat had the bark-look but most of it was dry and void of flavor.. especially the chopped pieces. He had the mac & cheese which was good because the top was nice and crunchy but once you got to the inside it was watery. His beans were heavy on the vinegar. I choked when I tasted it and I like vinegar but it was too much. The place is tight, with several tables outside on the sidewalk and if memories serves me 4 or 5 tables with chairs inside and then along the wall was 4 or 5 high tops with swivel stools. We opted for the regular tables as the chairs had support where the stools did not. When we arrived the door was open. There was a small floor fan somewhat cooling me off but my husband who is slim was very warm. It's in the high 80s today and very sunny. They needed to close the door and turn up the a/c to make the customers more comfortable. . If I could give half star for us this truly was a 2 1/2 star meal. The brisket was dry and beans too vinegary. The bread pudding we brought home and heated in the microwave was very good. I'd buy that again. read more

I'm not gonna lie..... I'm not the least bit obsessed with BBQ joints- it's not in my DNA. But hubby had just finished getting his haircut over at Sebastian's Barber Shop In Tarrytown and afterwards, noticed Pik Nik then decided on a take out order. (By the way...this is all info my non-Yelper hubby fed me). Story goes though, Hassan Jarane who owns Mint Premium Foods (which I love)- also owns Pik Nik. So I guess it's no surprise, menu here- also has that unique and classy touch. But this much I do know- I've personally driven by Pik Nik and it's perfectly located almost right in the middle of busy Tarrytown's Main Street. Based on hubby's pics, Pik Nik does look cute. He thought the Rustic design made him feel like he was somewhere in Kentucky- but with a really cool Art Deco vibe. Hubby enjoyed the Corn Bread and Broccoli Slaw he brought home. He also liked the St. Louis Ribs with sauce on the side- but felt they would've tasted way better, if ribs were already made with BBQ sauce to give them a caramelized touch. As for me? Hubby did right and made sure to ask the folks at Pik Nik whether or not my Veggie options had any pancetta, bacon, etc. in them. Sure enough- they didn't. However, the Kale+Cucumber+Apple Salad was indeed unique- but I thought it was a bit sweet. Fava Beans had a real nice spice and heat- but they too, were a bit too sweet for my liking. While staying in town for business, I wanted to grab a quick, no-frills bite for dinner and my search led me to Pik Nik BBQ. Parking was a 3@#%$! around the block and finally in my delirium I parked illegally and just went in for a quick bite & go. Server later told me it was exacerbated by a musical that night down the street. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with exposed bricks and plenty of windows. I was warmly greeted by a more than one employees right away and the girl behind the counter asked me if I had any questions while handing me the menu. Unlike most BBQ joints, they had a nice display of various salad items which I appreciated because although I love BBQ, I like to offset it with some "lightly handled" (i.e. not mayo'd and sauced to soggy oblivion) greens. The server girl asked me for my... full name... (?!) as she took my order of The Texan beef brisket sandwich and broccoli slaw w/ homemade sweet tea over ice. The Texan ($10.99) looked small, but turned out to be loaded with hearty portions of mouthwatering, juicy, perfectly seasoned brisket and a few slices of pickles on a toasted sesame bun. It was deceptively simple, yet had all the trapping of a dangerously good food. I saw that they had a single bottle of house BBQ sauce unlike many other BBQ places and poured a generous amount in my basket to dip in. It was not overly sweet, but full-bodied with a really nice spicy zing. When you've got THE BBQ SAUCE, you don't need multiple BBQ sauces! The broccoli slaw was subtle, crunchy & earthy with broccoli, carrots, and cabbages, etc. so it really balanced out the heavier fare, washed down in mildly-flavored sweet tea. I was quietly shoving food down like a ninja, but there were loud, flamboyant, joyous triple combo punches going on inside me mouth. BAMN. Delicious BBQ dinner in 15 minutes under $20. This place is very underwhelming as a BBQ spot. We came here based on the raging reviews and were honestly left disappointed. At the moment they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. If you want eat there, one person should save a table while the other goes to order. Shout out to the nice worker who runs around outside sanitizing all the seats/ tables & makes sure you're doing okay! We ordered the meat combo for 2 (2 meats & 2 sides & choice of brownie or corn bread): pulled pork, brisket, brussel sprouts, and Mac & cheese + an additional side of baked beans. The menu said if you order an extra side with the combo, you get 25 cents off but the cashier didn't even know. Meat: the brisket was so soft that it would fall apart when you try to pick it up with your fork. The pulled pork was VERY dry. It didn't help that both had a very little spread of sauce UNDERNEATH them. It honestly felt like they were trying too hard to make the BBQ look fancy that they forgot about the taste. There was also no option for extra sauce. Sides: Brussel sprouts with bacon was flavorless, soggy and barely charred Mac & cheese was alright, what you would expect regular Mac and cheese would be Baked beans with sausage had no sausage in it at all and tasted like regular baked beans you'd get out of a can Corn bread was very mealy and tasteless/bland Overall, we were very disappointed with the food as almost everything was bland. We ordered Pik Nik BBQ for a Friday night dinner. We got the Beef Brisket Box with Mac n Cheese and Baked Beans as sides as well as the Chicken Wings. That was a lot of food for two people so definitely good portions sizes. The brisket was delicious! Very juicy, tender and smokey. The sauces they gave out were on the sweeter side. I didn't think it needed any sauce; it was that good. The chicken wings were also delicious. I haven't had wings in a long time and these really hit the spot. They had a nice sweet glaze on them. Finally, GREAT BBQ in Westchester! My boyfriend and I went the other weekend for the first time. We were desperately seeking good bbq on a hot day. We've tried a few places in lower Westchester and have been underwhelmed but the pics on the PikNik Instagram page inspired us. We were so happy with the food that we bought another order to go and I returned the next day with my parents so they could try the food too! The good: oooh there's a lot of good here. We loved their wings which we had plain, jerk and BBQ. Even the plain had great flavoring from the smoker and dry rub. The sauces just enhanced that. We also enjoyed the brisket which was his favorite. Pik Nik offers a choice of lean, marbled or in between and we had the in between which was PERFECT. Ugh. Usually the lean is kinda like wood and the marbled is delish but very fatty. In between was chef's My parents had ribs the next day and loved it. My dad, who is originally from South Carolina and loves baked beans, basically just took the whole order for himself. He loved them. The bad: I don't know if I'd call them bad but we were not a fan of the collard greens. Hard pass. The ugly: nothing really. I ordered the Burnt Ends (which don't taste burnt AT ALL.) and any cook knows is the best part ... But, we eat it in the kitchen because it don't look too appetizing. Pik-Nik tho', serves up the burnt ends in quite a yummily appealing manner. These triangular chunks of moist almost crisp, beefy juicy love are not for the gen-pop because it WILL increase your HDL and LDL. I ate them in the car with my hands and have the greasy steering wheel to prove it. Next time I'll be sure to have Pik-Nik pack me a napkin. The homemade PICKLES! are a perfectly sweet sour and spicy complement to the meat and superior MAC n CHEESE. The cornbread is made with mostly cornmeal. My husband and I never went to Tarrytown so it was our very first time eating at a place that sells BBQ. The place is tiny but very cozy, with the strong smell of different kinds of meats that waver in the air as soon as you enter. The prices were very good, especially for how filling the 1/2 lb meats you can choose from. I ordered the Ribs box which included two sides and my husband ordered the Brisket. The sides we chose were the Mac n' Cheese (HIGHLY recommend as it was cooked to perfection with a delicious crust on top), homemade pickles (has some spice which made it refreshing), potato salad and homemade cornbread. I ordered Beef Brisket, and for about $20 I received two slices of brisket, cut in half making 4 pieces on the plate. The potato salad was extra (kinda sloppy creamy mess) and one beer.. about $45 I begged for the beer that I paid for, because the lady at the cash register couldn't keep up with new customers, and taking care of previous orders. They seriously need a back of bar expediter. I was half done with my food before the beer was delivered. Then leaving the other half behind. Will I return, probably not. Had the Brisket Box and was definitely a good choice. The brisket was super tender with a nice little pull to it. It could of had a touch more seasoning but the BBQ sauce definitely made up for that. The Best BBQ in the East Coast!! We drove over from NYC to catch a concert at the Music Hall and discovered this restaurant. Everything about the experience was amazing! The food is was so delicious! We ate here on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised. Full context. We are from Kansas City, MO. The birthplace of barbecue. We have lived out East for four years. My husband said this was the best barbecue he has had since we moved. We've tried several places. I'm pescatarian and had the Cajun club and could tell it was made with love. Pik-Nik makes the best barbecue on the planet. Their burnt ends are to die for. And everything else is that good too ! Prepare your mouth for a partay. I've had barbecue in Kentucky, Florida, Colorado, Virginia. None of them come close. Drove all the way from Queens and they were not serving their signature meats. Ordered the brisket and burnt ends. These were probably the worst attempt at burnt ends. They basically cut thicker slices of the same brisket into chunks and called it a day. Hardly any smoke in the brisket like they cooked it in an oven. They even served us a little tasting platter while we waited for our table and the owner complimented my girlfriends sweater PROS | the food is absolutely fantastic!
