Pilgrim Pines Camp was an amazing experience for a school trip. The drive up the mountain was a little scary with all the winding roads, but the views along the way were absolutely beautiful and made the trip even more memorable. Once we arrived, the camp itself was really well maintained. The cabins were clean, comfortable, and a great setup for a group. I was especially impressed with how clean the showers and restrooms were, not always something you expect at a camp, but they were kept in really good condition. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and they helped make the whole experience run smoothly. The views and surrounding landscape are stunning, and it's such a peaceful place to spend time outdoors. Overall, it was a great experience for a school trip and a perfect place for kids to enjoy nature in a safe, clean, and beautiful environment. I would definitely come back again. read more

My son stayed here recently with a large group. He said the grounds are beautiful but the camp staff and specifically the food provided by camp staff was horrible. He said he never had a warm meal and all meals were cold and even not cooked properly. He said staff seemed nonchalant to their concerns. Don't recommend bringing your group here if they are in charge of providing the food. read more

Unfortunately the leadership at this camp, specifically the board, is dragging this camp down and the camper experience reflects that. Pool has been out of service for 3 years, ropes course has been out for the better part of a decade and there doesn't seem to be any updates actually taking place. I have seen several directors come and go is just as many years, and each of them credit the board for the reason that they leave. read more

We had an amazing women's retreat at this camp, and it was amazing. The showers were hot, the bathrooms were near, and the cabins were nice.

4.5-5 stars Came here for an overnight grad school retreat and had a pleasant experience here at the camp. They are located in close proximity to the Oak Glen 5-mile loop (30+ farms and businesses) of Apple Country so I made sure to stop by and grab some apple cider and pie before heading home. The food was not bad for a camp. Never heard one person complain about the food. There were also both healthy and vegan options. The camp staff were also very accommodating and friendly throughout the time we were there. There is WiFi at the camp, but most of us could not sign-up initially unless we were standing close to the parking lot. Sometimes I would lose WiFi connection while in the cabin, on and off, not a very strong signal but I expected as much as we are at camp. There are a few trails around and along with nature scenery and animals. Always, always make sure to tell someone if you are going hiking, and also never go alone. The cabins here are ones I've never experienced before, they are one cabin but can be split into two by the wooden sliding doors. There are only sinks and toilets in the cabins, on each side, and you'll have to go to the main women and men restroom cabins for showers. We didn't know that we could use the fire pit until we got to the camp, but the staff did allow use to have a campfire going on so many were able to make s'mores and just enjoy the night under the stars, around the campfire. There were lots of insects so make sure to bring some bug repellent, especially if you tend to get bitten by mosquitoes. The main lodge is where we met, for our main activities, throughout the whole retreat but since it was in September, it was quite stuffy inside the room. There was no air conditioning, just fans. Sometimes it tended to be cooler outside of the lodge than in. Since you're up in the mountains, with higher elevation, make sure to stay hydrated! The staff were constantly reminding us to drink plenty of water and constantly provided us with water in the main lodge. There is also a 24/7 coffee machine in the dining hall. Perfect for us! Overall, a wonderful experience and would recommend Pilgrim Pines to anyone. read more

Pilgrim Pines has been out "home away from home" for over 45 years now. We were devastated by the recent floods which closed our beloved campground for the summer of 2023. We all expect to be back with new improvements as well for the summer of 2024! I cannot say enough for Jim Condap and his staff for safely evacuating about 3 - 400 people from the camp and sending us off safely to our respective homes. The entire staff was fantastic and went well before the call of duty. Not a single person was injured even though they had to bodily carry a few of the elderly down the damaged dirt road to safety. read more

This is a wonderful camp. I came as a camper in 6th grade -12th. I then was a counselor and ultimately became a Yr round staff member. Both of my kids have attended summer camp. It was my dream that they would be able to be surrounded by the beauty of the mountains and feel the love of the community that is pilgrim pines. I wouldn't be the person I am today if it weren't for PP. it sounds sappy, but it's the truth. I highly recommend Pilgrim Pines! read more

Just had a wonderful two-night camping trip, using the cabin option. Perfect weather and the staff was super attentive. Given all the limits from COVID-19, this was a really nice way to get away to a clean, safe, and beautiful spot. They provided a campfire, fresh ice, and trash services. We will come back! read more

This hidden gem in the San Bernadino mountains has held a special place in my family for generations. Just recently I continued the tradition by taking my 8 year old to spend a week there for the first time. I knew that the staff would take care of her and show her a good time, but what I didn't expect was how emotionally moved my child was when I picked her up in Saturday. Usually campers and first time parents have a good cry when parting ways on Sunday when camp starts, but the power of this camp shows that by the following Saturday the campers are hugging and crying with each other because it is time to go back home. The accommodations are adequate and they have made some very timely and much needed upgrades. It's truly a magical place that allows every camper to allow them to express and embrace their creative attributes. read more

Staff was very caring, they called me before camp started just to see if I had any questions and tell me about special plans for the week. This is an AMAZING camp. I've been coming up here for over 40 years, first as a camper, then a counselor and on staff. My daughter now goes on her own for a week. She comes back so happy and full of the joy you can only get by spending a week in nature, meeting new and old friends and feeling God's love through both. I highly recommend this camp for your children or your group's retreat. It's well maintained, staff are friendly, experienced and very responsive to the needs of the campers. To note: this is a UCC camp, and the UCC is a PROGRESSIVE Christian faith-- we believe in social justice, acceptance, and inclusion, not gonna get any preaching, fire or brimstone here, just an experience of God's exuberant love for all people. read more

I felt like i was at camp again... maybe because we were basically at camp again. Went here on a weekend retreat and our group had such a great time. cabins were above par, compared to normal summer camp style lodging situations. food was typical camp food (could have been better, mostly sysco brand products) but the staff was friendly and helpful. it was great. we made most of the fun ourselves: scavenger hunts, board games, volleyball, etc... fun. fire time was fun too. what a little gem, with nice hiking trails as well. read more

I went to this camp on a college choir retreat for the weekend. We have been here multiple years in a row, and this was my second time to attend. It was gross. The camp director put our section in a cabin knowing that they had had bed bug problems in that cabin for the last year. So we ended up in the middle of the night moving to sleep on the wooden floor of the rehearsal room. We had a bat flying overhead in the rafters and saw multiple large beetles and a rat crawling across the floor. Needless to say, almost none of us got sleep that night because we had to leave our now bed bug infested sleeping bags outside and shared 3 people per sleeping bag with no blankets. Then when we told the camp director the next day she was surprised that we saw the bugs because they only come out at night and not usually when the light is on. These were her exact words. She is ridiculous because when the entire camp was free, she choose to put our section in that cabin. Responsible director, I think not. I also heard that last year one of our girls ended up being hospitalized from scabies as a result of the bugs in this cabin. I would highly advise no one to rent out this place. It was an awful weekend and the camp itself is not very clean. read more

Pilgrim Pines will always have a special place in my heart. The staff truly cares about the kids and finds opportunities to share the love of God in fun and meaningful ways. Everyone is welcoming and nurturing. Their special needs program is one of a kind that provides a safe, loving environment for those who need special attention. I am proud to have been a former staff member and even more proud my daughter serves as a counselor there. The cabins are clean and so are the grounds. They truly take care of the area. Was there at the end of January early February for an event. The facility while rustic in some ways was very beautiful. The cabin where we stayed was comfortable and had a bathroom. The only downside was that showers were in bathhouses and for some of our group that presented a challenge. The staff were over the top fantastic to work with and very responsive to the needs of our group. I much enjoyed the scenery even with impending bad weather(rainy storms and snow/ice..lol) I would go to an event here again and if I lived in California I would book events there for any group I worked with. read more

I've been coming up to this camp site since 2008. We (me and the non-profit I volunteer with ) bring high school kids up here for about 3 days and the staff is nothing short of hospitable and overly nice with us all. We don't do many of the out door activities (wall climbing and such) but we do let the kids go hiking and such. The cabins are always clean and up to par to keep us happy. And if anything ever does go wrong the staff is on the grounds ready to help. The property itself is beautiful and after all these years I still am amazed by its breath taking beauty. As a former summer camper here, I can say that the Christians here are not "phony" but progressive. If you are a strict, literalist Christian then no, this is not the place for your child. If, however, you want your child to learn different interpretations of the Bible with an emphasis on tolerance and acceptance, then this is an amazing camp. You need to do your research before you send your child here -- they do not hide the fact that they are a UCC camp and if you don't know what that means, look it up. They are modern and do not cling to literal interpretations of the Bible, but instead focus on how people can live by the Bible in the current time. It's in a beautiful, secluded spot in the mountains, with many challenging but safe possibilities for hikes and games. The summer camp staff makes sure to provide a balanced set of activities so that children learn and have fun. I still speak to MANY of my old camp friends and am so glad that I had this experience when I was a child and teenager -- I would never give it up for the world. read more
