    Hummus & Pita
    Sophia N.

Stopped here for dinner before we headed to the navy pier. Very nice and peaceful spot where you can enjoy a nice view of the Tinder and boats passing by. I ordered the veggie pita wrap and a side of hummus and pita bread. The wrap also came with chips however I want a huge fan of them. I happen to like pretty salty chips though so I'm a bit biased. The pita wrap was good but I feel a bit pricey for what it entails. The hummus was also good but for 2 pieces of bread and a tiny side, I feel like $10 is overpriced. Service was a bit slow but we did like our server. It was a very relaxing and beautiful place to enjoy dinner.

I love Mediterranean places and Pinched looked promising. I ordered online and went to the restaurant to pick it up. However, when I arrived at my pickup time, the food was not ready. The worker assured me it would be done soon but I waited 15 more minutes to receive it, and it was only because I inquired again. The food was cold by the time I got it. In terms of taste, everything was pretty much okay. The naan was good and definitely the best part. The chicken pieces were small, especially for the price, and didn't have much flavor. Overall, everything seemed bland.

I always enjoy visiting Chicago. While conferencing downtown, I marveled at the beautiful buildings, splendid summer weather, INCREDIBLY FIT runners everywhere, and of course, the marvelous food. Near Magnificent Mile, Pinched on the River was a delightful lunch, dinner, and hangout joint by the lake during my stay. I enjoyed their salmon and salads, cheerful white wines, and just the general sense that yeah... Chicago does look good on you! Hvala ti to the staff for hosting me throughout the week of July 7th! I greatly enjoyed the restaurant and hope to visit again soon!

I called Lanka? For a last minute catering order for work and she was beyond accommodating! She helped me pick the best food for the amount of people and was so flexible!!! The food arrived on time and was delicious! All of my coworkers asked where the food was from and wanted to order it again! I couldn't be happier with the service, food and price from Here! 12/10!!! We got the shawarma, falafel, and pita which came with salad and hummus and sauces! Be sure to ask for extra sauce as I will say those are pretty tiny! Delicious pita bread! They do delivery too!!

I really liked the atmosphere here and the food was great. For the area you're in, prices are quite reasonable to. It was St. Patrick's Day weekend when we came and they had Irish music playing, and everybody was stressed in Green. Our waitress was great and I would totally come back here

We had an absolutely fantastic lunch for Mother's Day at Pinched! Our server was great, have good recommendations and spent the time to take a couple of great pics for us as well. I got the chicken kabob bowl. The chicken was well flavored and tender. The 2 dressing/sauces it came with were delicious. My dad had the salmon bowl, said it was cooked to perfection and the couscous was also great. My brother had the beef kabob bowl and also loved it. This was my least favorite of the 3 proteins. My mom had the falafel pita which was amazing. The falafel was fresh and the pita for all dishes seemed to have just been made! As for ambiance, we sat outside right on the river and the view was magnificent. Overall we had the perfect Mother's Day lunch!

Summertime in Chicago is all about Al Fresco and having drinks and food at Pinched On The Riveris a must! Although Pinched By The River has a chic and elegant dining area with a big beautiful bar indoors for those cold winter days, summertime at Pinched On The River can't be beat. For my drink , I had the Watermelon Margarita, so refreshing! For an appetizer I had the mediterranean fish tacos, very delicious! For my main entree I had the poseidon bowl which was absolutely amazing! For dessert I had the benign shark cuttery and they were just like the ones we had in New Orleans (of course, east them while they're hot. The view, the food, the drinks, and the service here are amazing!

I came to Pinched on the River after a work event and it was such a treat! The location is so special, and we were able to grab a seat right along the river and watch the boats go by. To drink I tried the watermelon margarita. This was so refreshing on a hot summer night! The food is fresh and yummy. My boss and I decided to start with some hummus and then we each built a BYO bowl. I really loved being able to customize it. I went with rice, chicken kabobs, spicy hummus, cabbage slaw, and feta. Pinched would be a great spot to bring out of towners or to go for a night date. I can't wait to come back!

This place only wins on location, location, location. Out for a stroll, decided to hang out by the river. The pizza place next door had a long wait so strolled further east to discover this spot. They seemed quite understaffed, food was average, and the prices were quite high. $50 per person for just one entree and one glass of house wine. But the charm of enjoying a Europe-style riverside patio makes it such that they don't have to put in any other effort to get people in or think about how much they get away with charging.

As the name implies , this restaurant is right on the Chicago river. The view is gorgeous and the food and drinks are heavenly. I started with a mingle maria cocktail and it was really delicious and refreshing! My appetizer was the mushroom pasta flat bread. It was plentiful and delectable. My main entree was the Chicken Mushroom Pesto Pasta, the pesto was so good, I wanted more of it. My dessert was the sea salt caramel cheesecake, it was really rich and decadent. It's gorgeous here, relaxing and comfortable, has great food and drinks with exceptional service! What more could you ask for?

After buying tickets for the Chicago cruise architectural boat tour I decided to stop there to have some water and get some protein as it was pretty hot and humid out, and I felt like I was gonna pass out! Service was sketchy at First and I had to wander around inside to find someone and the lady seemed very bothered that I asked if I could sit outside. Once out there, it was a different server and I was thankful because she was great. Watch the storm roll in and listen to some thunder. There's a little view of a river inlet, which was great. I had a chicken Shawarma pita with some fries and ate every bit of it even though it was massive! Was able to see in an art studio and saw a gentleman starting to paint. With hands-down go back there. Really enjoyed the experience in the food.

They light a new candle on your table and it was fun guessing how many hours it takes for the candle to melt all the way down. We came during dinner time and sat inside. We shared the Arancini, usually comes in 3 and they made 4 for us, since there were 4 of us. Very delicious and we all just took our time savoring the flavor. So good and it is also GF made with rice flour. Next I had the Umbricelli con Sugo d'Anatra. House made spaghetti with duck meat. Noodles were firm and didn't twirl on the fork easily. But it was really good. There were plenty of duck meat shredded and chunks. The cherry tomatoes were a bit tart to me, so I didn't eat them all. For dessert we shared the Tortino al Cioccolato Valhrona, like a chocolate lava cake. Very soft and rich chocolate. Had orange pieces throughout. Came with coffee gelato. Also shared the Vanilla bean panna cotta. Smooth creamy and light, reminds me of crème brulee. Had lots of cherries with crumbles of cookies. Both desserts are GF. I actually like the chocolate more... couldn't resist. They cleanup and give you a new plate and or silverware after each course. They are very good at keeping your glass of water refilled. Very friendly staff.

The inside of the restaurant is so nice and cozy, though they also offer covered patio seating if you prefer the outdoors. We sat inside for our 5:00pm reservation for a table of four, which I booked easily ahead of time. What truly sets this place apart is their incredible accommodation for dietary restrictions. Because I have celiac disease and am listed as a vegetarian on OpenTable, the host thoughtfully brought a separate vegan menu right to our table without us even having to ask. Their main menu also has multiple items clearly marked as gluten-free or gluten-free available, and best of all, they use separate fryers to prevent cross-contamination. I let our server know right away that I have celiac, and she reassured me that the kitchen would take every precaution to make sure my food was entirely safe. We started off with the arancini, which is made gluten-free in a separate fryer and was absolutely to die for. For my main course, I had the gluten-free radiatori tossed in a spicy vodka sauce, and it was so good that I ate every single bite. To top it all off, we shared two desserts between us: the panna cotta and the flourless chocolate cake, both of which were delicious. To drink, I enjoyed a refreshing Aperol Spritz followed by a glass of the moscato. From the top-notch allergy safety to the amazing drinks and food, everything was excellent. This is a must-visit spot, especially if you need gluten-free or vegetarian options!

I wanted nothing more than to ring in year 45 with a great glass of natural wine... and I walked out having had a 7-glass flight and one of the most memorable evenings of the trip. The bartenders deserve their own star. They weren't just knowledgeable--they were genuinely fun to talk to, the kind of people who make you feel like you've been coming there for years. We went from discussing funky wine profiles to diving deep into '80s horror films, which is absolutely my idea of a perfect tangent. Their enthusiasm and curiosity made the whole experience feel personal and spontaneous. As for the wine: unique, surprising, and delicious, even the pours I didn't expect to enjoy. Good Funk leans into exploration in the best way--nothing feels generic or predictable. Every glass had its own personality, and the flight felt like a curated adventure rather than a lineup. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, stylish without being pretentious, and perfect for either a solo wind-down or a lively night out. It's the kind of place that encourages you to linger, taste one more thing, have one more conversation. Good Funk turned what could've been a quiet, forgettable evening into an unforgettable birthday-eve celebration. If you're in Chicago and love natural wine--or just love a spot with genuine heart--don't miss this place.

I'll begin by mentioning the drinks tasted great & the ambiance/overall esthetic and setup of this space is really wonderful. Unfortunately, my low review is because of the obvious distastefulness of some staff who are serving & bartending here. My guests visiting from out of state wanted a stiff drink in the afternoon & from the website photos + reviews, Vol 39 seemed like an awesome place that could accommodate our party with the large sofa seating. I even called ahead to ask about walk-ins of our size to be extra considerate. We received shocking dagger glares from a few staff members which made all eight of us immediately uncomfortable before even being sat. Like we were committing a major crime for thinking we could step foot in here. Empty stack of glasses slammed on the table with a water pitcher placed beside them; "I'll be right back." In a sharp tone. Ok. But not if we're paying $20 per person per cocktail. We were rushed and this attitude persisted, it is lazy.. especially given it was extremely slow.. super surprising for such an elevated establishment. Then, after a long while, we were all asked what we wanted to drink, like a fast casual burger joint. No, "any questions about our selections" or, "may I give some suggestions?" Never came by to check on us once despite the three other two tops inside. We wrapped it up fast since we definitely could choose another location with more attentiveness & basic kindness. We paid, a hefty gratuity in small print on the check which.. you guessed it.. was automatically included but no mention of this tidbit by the server. Maybe this is why we revived all this mean girl energy from the jump? Because they'll still get paid really well regardless? All eight of us have been a part of the service industry and this one stuck out extra frustrating & annoying. Never leave a low review, I'm writing today to management because they will ruin your repeat clientele, seriously. People can find another fabulous cocktail with way better service & vibes in the city. Overall, it was a shame my friends experienced this gross behavior today in the fabulous city of Chicago. Hope the staff does better in the future and works on improving their outlook.

All the more better to savor all intricate dishes from start to finish. Like the name, The Purple Pig, their specialty is pork dishes so majority of our orders were this. Daily special of the bone marrow bacon jam toast - glazed, slippery off the bone, savory and sweet. Always love a good bone marrow dish to get the sweetness off it. This was so good that there were bits of the marrow and jam left stuck to the bone, I took a piece of the toast and scooped the bone dry. Nothing left for anyone to attack this. Non pork dishes were the Mushroom 3 ways and Spanish octopus. Mushroom dish was savory with all the coated sauces elevating this. Spanish octopus was kicked lightly and easily can bite in to enjoy the tender and charred portions. But the award went to my main course - the braised pork shoulder with saffron, apricots and Swiss chard. Aside from the rippable pork meat when dining on it, the sauces fused together on this dish elevated it and had everyone coming back for more. I needed an official Chicago culinary experience and found it at The Purple Pig without a doubt.

Our second course was the Gage Caesar which we've had before and have enjoyed sharing multiple times, but this time the lettuce was full of grit as if the prep chef did not even bother washing the lettuce. The server never came by to check on us so I had to wave the manager to complain about the salad. The server also never checked to see if we wanted refills on our cocktails so we placed our orders with the manager. The final dish was the venison burger which was perfectly cooked and seasoned if you like venison, which I do so we enjoyed that greatly. The condiments that came with it were perfectly matched to balance the game of the meat and the fries were perfect as usual! The server then FINALLY got more involved with our dinner and was predictably perky and present at the end, something that always irks me when they have been otherwise absent for the meal. The ONLY reason they are getting 3 stars instead of less for this visit was the flavor of the food and the response of the manager in dealing with the lack of service (and the gritty salad). I would give the initial server a zero if I could.
