My boyfriend and I were looking for a good Mexican spot near our hotel in DTLA and stumbled upon Pinches Tacos. It was super convenient since it was within walking distance from our hotel. My boyfriend ordered an Asada torta (it was his first time trying one) and an elote, while I got the Adobada tacos with a side of rice and beans. Everything was soo yummy, and the red sauce they gave us had a perfect spice that made every bite amazing. We shared a horchata, and I believe that it is the best horchata I've ever tried (I used to live in Vegas and got Mexican food at least once a week lmfao). The staff were so friendly and welcoming; they helped us right away and brought our food straight to the table. The artwork inside of the restaurant was beautiful and clearly well thought out, which added to the overall vibe and experience. The Rice on the plate was super super bland, basically tasted like white rice. The chips and then beans were good, the beans had great flavor and I'm not even that into beans. Chips tasted fresh and weren't stale, went well with the beans. The Al Pastor taco was a great size with plenty of meat, however everything about it was pretty average tasting. Wasn't bad but wouldn't go out of my way for it. The Street corn was very good, if you like it spicy I would as for more of that, but otherwise I would recommend to order this. I gave Pinches Tacos a chance on a Taco Tuesday since my coworkers wanted some tacos. Unfortunately, there is no Tuesday special and their prices are quite steep. It's at least $4 for one taco! Though you can get a combo plate of 3 tacos and add in some rice/beans and chips. I opted for the al pastor burrito. You will have to wait a little bit for your food since it seems like they make it fresh. Pretty cool to see the tortillas being pressed while I was waiting to order. While waiting for your food, the inside is pretty interesting to look at - a lot of colors and decor! The restaurant does get very crowded during lunchtime and we decided to walk back to the office because it was also very hot and stuffy in there. I enjoyed my burrito, which came with chips! It stayed warm for a pretty long time. However, I do wish the ingredients were better mixed together. My coworkers seemed to think the food was decent too. The price gave me a little pause but they fill the full size tortilla to make a filling taco that is worth the price. I liked the fish more than the shrimp but both were good.. I don't get the cole slaw and they piled a bunch of it on the tacos. Even though I removed most of it the juice from it remained. So next time no coleslaw and maybe they could have higher rating.
