We ordered the featured Jalapeño Popper Smash: two smash patties with habanero ghost pepper jack cheese, pomegranate bacon jam, cream cheese spread, serrano aioli, and pickled jalapeños on a toasted pretzel bun. While we waited, we sipped on a well cocktail. The burger was incredible--innovative and very well thought out. The service was prompt and engaging. I can really tell the staff has a passion for everything they do; it's very refreshing and definitely deserves a shot and repeated business!

Of note was the pork chop entree, with the pork sourced from a local farm. The pork was unbelievably tender, practically the pork equivalent of wagyu. The fat was rendered out perfectly and the chop had a smoky char, the tomato and onion sauce over the top cut through the fattiness and balanced the dish perfectly. The pork chop itself is worth traveling out of your way for, and the squid ink pasta and salmon smoked on a wood board are also highlights. The Cozy Taberna lives up to its reputation as one of the best restaurants in Salem.
