Bolognese pasta with mushroom soup (French onion style)
    Michael B.

Pine Grill is an upstanding restaurant in Somerset (right off the Turnpike) with comfort (ish) food at affordable prices, but it also features upscale entrées as well. I got the mushroom soup - super rich broth soaking the croutons in flavor, very nice start to the meal. The bolognese had a bit of kick and savory tomato taste. (A tad more Italian seasoning would have hit the spot, but still was a great dish!) My friend ordered pasta with crab meat - real crab meat, not imitation, and she was pleased. Our server was very polite and helpful with the menu. I enjoyed Pine Grill very much and would happily stop again next time I'm passing by.

Holy Moly! This place is a diamond! We stopped in for an early dinner off the interstate and were blown away by it all! I had a pumpkin cheesecake martini that dreams are made of. Perfect balance and such a treat. Then came the food!!!! Calves liver was perfect with gravy and mashed potatoes that were just like home made. My husband ordered the meatloaf (a house favorite and top requested item). Mixed veggies and gravy were phenomenal All in all a feel good mix of the right staff, warm atmosphere and delicious food! Ask for Bailey, she couldn't have been more attentive, knowledgeable and kind. This is our new stop of off the Interstate . Can't wait to come again!

Stayed in Somerset for just one night and wanted to try something local vs one of the big chains. Pine Grill was fine and kind of a throwback in terms of decor. Service was excellent and prices I thought a bit high for location and quality but all in all happy we tried it out. They have a huge bar in the back and a very creative cocktail menu. There was not much of a wine selection but I totally appreciate the effort given they have a local wine ( by the bottle) on the menu. I had a steak and baked potato and the potato was kind of cold. Def not hot.

Mark is a great host and the food is always awesome. Get off the turnpike and eat there. Stay away from the corporate restaurants.

Location location location, Western Pennsylvania hospitality, and specials you'll want to come back for. Obscure beer menu, too. Nice.

Better than diner food, but not by much. Italian wedding soup was very good. Portion size good. Quality C Minus.

Despite it being in Pennsylvania, it throws off a distinct hillbilly atmosphere. The usual signs about Jesus, Christmas and, of course, patriotism were in abundance. My party ordered a variety of dishes and I opted for the roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Sorry to say, the food was just adequate. The beef was overdone and the gravy had the sheen of the bottled gravies at the grocery store. The mashed potatoes were the star of the show, however, as they were very good. The hamburger and pancakes ordered by others get similar reviews. It was a hamburger and tasted like one. The pancakes, being hard to screw up, were just pancakes. This is a cash-only place, so come prepared to be vilified for wanting to pay with plastic. The prices were lower than the norm but that did little to make me feel better upon leaving. Despite the dearth of customers when we were there, the service was also lacking. I had to seek out help to get a refill on my iced tea and we waited a while to pay...with cash. I can't really give this place any additional stars. Stop here if you absolutely can't wait to eat.

While I understand this is not exactly the same, we all know it basically is. So I had an idea of what we were in for. Or so I thought. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. At our arrival there were three other tables. The largest had four people. The atmosphere was very quiet at this time. Our waitress was very nice to us but still somehow seemed overwhelmed or busy. We ordered the Tuscan Brucshetta for an appetizer. What was brought to use was a hotdog/hoagie bun, toasted with tomatoes and balsamic on it. For lack of a better word, it was weird. One of the entrees was a calzone and I'm not even certain the dough even saw any heat. It was pale, soggy & just barely above raw. We didn't have a chance to ask the waitress to ask the kitchen to fire it again bc we didn't see her until she brought the bill and our to go pizza. Not even sure what to make of the pizza. Watery sauce and limp dough, again. We have said we might give this place another chance bc sometimes people have bad days. Not in a hurry for a rematch but will edit review if so. Plenty of parking. Handicap accessible. Plenty of room inside for wheelchairs, walkers, canes and scooters.
