Please read full review for an update and how this company worked to come back and make things right: Experience started with a text back and forth with someone - owner, office...unsure. they would not give a quote to snake two drains. "Guy needs to see it." They did say the estimate was free. See attached dialog. Michael came and took 30 seconds to tell us the quote was $450. Seemed high, but the guy is here (what they bank on, I assume). Starts in the kitchen and tries three times to clear it, no good. At this point he's like, "hey, this isn't going as planned so maybe not $450". Short of it was he wanted to replace 40ft of drain for $4,600. And he wanted $600 for today (before he even tried doing anything with the shower drain). Basically, he was trying to have it both ways: give you a quote for the job, unless the job takes too long. Then they want to be paid by the time and not the job. This isn't honest. The Update ‐--------- I got a followup email asking for feedback, which I gave candidly. Then I got a call asking how they could make this right. Aiden came out and surmised that maybe we didn't need to replace 40ft of drain. Then he scheduled another appointment and came with Gilmar and Simon and they managed to clear it. While rinsing out the garage of muck, the garage drain was backed up and they snaked and cleared that too. All in it was the $600 we paid the first guy to clear the three drains. Generally I still think that's high, but it was two visits (three if you count Aiden coming alone) and they worked hard and replaced a faulty gasket under the sink. I'm really impressed that they came back and worked hard to make things right with us. I'm bummed about the initial experience, but Aiden also agreed that it wasn't right to change the price after starting work. I'd recommend them but advise you to ask questions and be specific about what they are doing for you and for what price. read more

I am writing a five star review for Discount Plumbing Rooter Inc. I had met Jun; an assistant to the company by fluke one day as he sat in the vehicle with the logo on it. I walked up and introduced myself as a Realtor and said; "Do you have a business card as many of my clients may need services." He promptly gave me a card and specifics as to contacting the company. Low and behold, I would be the first customer. So I contacted the dispatch for assistance as my shower was clogged. They assured me that someone would be out within the hour and a flat rate charge would occur. The flat rate charge was the most important aspect because in my history of plumbers they all charge upon the hour which could be a detriment to anyone's pocket depending upon the plumbers skills or issues. I received a phone call and was greeted by Angelo, he was calm, cool, collective, professional and even wore shoe covers which was impressive. He is a man of few words, but superbly intelligent, knowledgeable and straight to the point upon observation of the shower issue. I was grateful for this level of explanation of details as to the issues and resolution. The second time I contacted the company it was a bigger issue as to the entire garage flooding on a Sunday after hours so I had to wait until Monday to get in touch with someone. I called Kevin the owner and he graciously answered my call at 7am and assured me someone would be out right away and I did let him know all of the above as to commending his staff. He assured me someone would be out to take care of me and within that hour Angelo came to my rescue again and fixed it. He specifically should win a service of excellence award for his customer service plumbing skills. I highly recommend this company to everyone that needs plumbing assistance. After noticing my 30 year old water heater was starting to leak, I knew it was finally time to have it replaced before having a flood and a big mess in my garage. After the initial shock of it all I placed a call to "Discount Plumbing" in Daly City. My family has used them several times in the past for both replacing pipes in our parents home in Daly City as well as having the sewer lines changed. Discount Plumbing is the only company I will deal with, they are very professional, courteous and quick to respond to your calls, from the initial call to their receptionist to the plumber who responds to your problem. I was told that my plumber would be at my home within 1 - 1.5 hours which I thought was great , little did I know that my plumber was out to my home within about 20 min., and I was very impressed. My plumber's name was Angel and he did a great job, I not only had to have my water heater replaced but to also have some plumbing done as well, now I won't have to worry if the heater will break when I'm not home and cause a flood or worry because it was not strapped to the wall for safety issues. Angel's,s name says it all what a kind, pleasant young man to work with, he answered a lot of questions I had and made sure that I understood everything he would be doing prior to him starting the job as well as a review of all the work that he did. I can't tell you how pleased I am with the work that was done for me today, as well as the wonderful reputation "Discount Plumbing" Daly City has. I am a homeowner/landlord and found Discount PLumbing based upon the other reviews here. I am happy to report they are TRUE!! He really is a 5-STAR plumber and I would recommend him to anyone. Discount Plumbing is reliable, arrives AND returns when he says he will, reasonable with his pricing, and VERY thorough. I had a leaking hot water valve in the laundry and a bathroom sink that repeatedly clogged. Jason came promptly the same day and said he would not charge for the estimate, only if I decided to use him for the work. The estimate was fair so I agreed to have him go ahead with the work. He did not originally have the correct size valve and spent a good amount of time attempting to fix the current valve - for that work he charged only a very nominal fee and promised to return the next day at 1pm. (I was doing other work on the home and volunteered to let him move on to his other clients and return the next day). He called the next day at 12.10 pm to tell me he was on the freeway heading here and arrived as promised at 1pm part in hand. He showed me exactly what he did and repeatedly made sure I was satisfied with the work and that there were no leaks after the work was completed. The same went for the clogged drain, where he went above just snaking it, but also repaired the root cause of the problem which was a broken drain part (that my husband had known about and tried to "fix"). I can't thank Angelo enough! I had two seperate plumbing companies come in before Angelo at Discount Plumbing to see why my sump pump wasn't discharging and sewage was spilling out of the tank of my hillside home. The first company took 3 days to come up with a diagnosis and wanted to trench my front yard including breaking up my beautiful hardscape walkway, lawn and some driveway to replace a line out to the street. They charged a large sum just to diagnose the problem and wanted a whole lot more to fix the problem. I had a sense they didn't have my best interest and called Angelo/Discount. It didn't take long for me to sense Angelo had the customers best interest at heart. He looked everything over thoroughly to see if it could be fixed (which the other company just unplugged and plugged back in the sump pump without seeing if it was clogged) made a diagnosis and plan in a half hour without charging me anything. He ordered and picked up the supplies that same day. Four hours later my plumbing was working beautifully for thousands less than if I kept working with "How Dumb Is the Customer Plumbing Co". In the end Angelo did have to replace the sump pump, but advised me not to replace the line or ruin my yard which would have been thousands more on top to put the yard back together. Not very often anymore, but once in awhile you come across a true professional. Angelo is a true professional. Had a great experience with Efrain from Discount Plumbing Rooter Inc. He is very professional, knowledgable and patient. I thought our garbage disposal broke last night, and after a quick phone call at noon, Efrain came to my rescue at 145 pm,,,, couldn't believe same day and within 2 hours! I had just arrived back from the hardware store with a snake after removing the u pipe. The u pipe was disconnected when I was explaining to Efrain how I was trying to do it myself. All of a sudden water started rushing into the pan under the u pipe and Efrain quickly sprung into action to place the u pipe back on to stop the water. I hadn't realized if my neighbors ran water it would run into my place. It could've been a disaster! He took the time to explain how the drain pipes work and run thru the building, why water was coming into our 1st floor unit, and my options to repair it vs trying to do it myself. He was not pushy for one option or the other, but very thoughtfully explained the pros and cons, the cost difference and left the decision up to me. He worked quickly and cleaned up impeccably. He also tested it several times just to make sure it was working properly, and explained that they offer a warranty in case something should occur afterwards with the pipes/disposal. I contacted the office/answering service 5 times on 12/24/20. No response or call back received. An ongoing issue is with a leaking water heater that was installed by this company on 12/19/20. Each time I called on this day, I was informed a message would be left with the "on-call" technician, and I would be contacted shortly. I did not receive a single call back. The water heater was installed on 12/19/20. As of 12/25/20, it is leaking once again and has been leaking 4 out of the first 6 days since installation. This is not normal for a new water heater. This is a disaster. My previous water heater did not leak once in 18 years until it was replaced on 12/19/20. On 12/26/20, I attempted to reach someone again, but encountered a very rude and unacommodating representative. I left another message. As of 12/31/20, the water still leaks after 3 follow-up service calls. Still unresolved. Poor response, customer service, and workmanship. Now I am stuck with the cost for a pressure relief valve for my water line and expansion tank. This will cost me approximately an additional $1000. What a rip off. This work should have been evaluated or discussed from the outset for my water heater installation and the 3 previous service calls. Discounts (i.e. Discount Plumbing) always ends up costing more. Stick with another place for your plumbing issues. This is not the place. read more

I recently sold my house a couple days ago. However, before I could do so I needed to replace the sewer line. I knew this would be an expensive project and was not too happy about it. Discount Plumbing made it a whole lot easier to cope with the fact that i needed to just get this done as fast as possible. I immediately Googled Plumbing company's in my area and stumbled upon Discount Plumbing on Yelp. I was blown away with many positive reviews and safely assumed that this company is the right one for me. Corey was the plumber that came to give me the free estimate and explained to me everything that needed to be done. He was very professional and very kind. After receiving the quote i told him i would give him a call back to research different companies and find the best price due to money being tight. Discount Plumbing had the best ratio of price and professionalism, justifying the reason i gave them a call back. Corey and a crew came out and finished the entire job in one day. I was very impressed that they were able to accomplish all of this so quickly. Ultimately, I am very happy with Discount Plumbing's services. They made this unfortunate necessity easier to deal with. I had 2 toilets that had to be flushed sometimes 2 - 3 times. So I called around and of course you really can not get a straight answer. So I called Discount Plumber. They came out sooner than was scheduled and Carlos figured out that it was the inner mechanisms that were not putting enough water into the tank for it to adequately flush down the waste. I also asked him if he could put an auger in each toilet, just in case there might be any blockage. So he quoted me $575, I thought that was too much, so he came down to $415. I was thinking that I could buy 2 new toilets and have my handyman install them for less than that. But I felt pressured, so I caved.and signed the work orders. Just as Carlos said, there was no blockage, the new flush pressure valves and flush problem resolved. That evening I had like a buyer's remorse, and called other plumbing companies the next day and also checked Yelp.Did not know there was this $99 deal and also I noted several people who got overcharged by Discount but the owner refunded $500-600 on the job. So I contacted Kevin, the owner, he was quite nice and he gave me the "Yelp Special Price" and took off the snake charges crediting my card $172. I felt that was fair and would recommend Discount Plumbing. read more

Life can get discouraging when a senior citizen, like myself, with a damaged back, looks forward to a long soak in a hot tub of water...only to find it lukewarm because the pilot went out in the water heater. After following the instructions and trying for over 2 hours, unsuccessfully, to re-light it, I went to the Yellow Pages to find a plumber. I came across Discount Plumbing Rooter, Inc. and the name sounded familiar like I had used them before with good results, and they also gave senior discounts...so I called. They were able to get me an early morning appointment. Efrain arrived on time and ready to check out and fix the problem. He was very pleasant and polite as he listened to my problem and what I had attempted to do in fixing it...then he put on shoe covers to protect my floors, checked the heater and quickly got the pilot going. He advised me on what to do if it happened again and also warned me of possible dangers of dealing with gas appliances. Even though I consider myself a pioneer woman, I am glad I am now spared the nightmare of heating and lifting heavy pots of water on the stove for washing dishes and for baths. Thank you Efrain. I am in my 50's and have had dozens of plumbing experiences through out my life at home and in business and I can tell you these guys are the best. The best business and consultants I have found have always been through word of mouth. That is how I found my dentist, my auto repairman and now my plumber Kevin who is the owner of Discount Plumbing Rooter. Discount had taken care of a serious drainage problem in our back yard that two other established plumbers could not do and charged us even though they did not solve our problem. My friend volunteers with Kevin somewhere and was always listening to Kevin take calls from customers calling to say thank you and also told me how smart Kevin sounded when talking to customers so I called him with our problem and he had a crew out the same day and wrote a detailed estimate explaining exactly how he was going to solve our problem which seemed almost impossible. It was a big job but everyday the sight was left clean and the workers never needed to use our bathroom and did not cuss on the job or disrespect our home. I have used this company before and was satisfied with the service. Not this time! I got an estimate from Mike M. I t seemed reasonable: 675 dollars for replacement of my bathroom sink, faucet, and P trap, etc. Mike informed me that the bathroom sink size I required was no longer available. However he did replace the faucet and the P trap, hot & cold supply lines and grid strainer all of which was part of the estimate. When he finished I asked him to check my shower as we were having a problem regulating the hot and cold water. He checked that out and was to return the next day to continue work after he obtained a new replacement part. I gave him a check for 940 dollars as was requested thinking the extra money was for the repair of the shower. Wrong. He insisted that the cost of replacing the bathroom faucet with the required replacemet parts below the sink was $940. I see that some one else has written a review complaining about the same Discount Plumbing eemployee. Too bad I didn't read the review before I was taken. I will certainly advise my friends about this guy. Needless to say, I'll contact some other plumbing company to fix my shower. read more

First things first. Several other plumbers didn't even bother to call me back. Called Discount and got a real live human not an answering machine. Made an appointment for the next morning. Called me when the plumbers were being dispatched to make sure that I would be there. The crew that was sent, Mike and Fred (pretty sure those were business aliases) called when they were close to let me know they were almost at my house. Clogged bathroom drain. Pedestal sink. Bad situation. Fred and Mike worked very hard to avoid having to break into a tiled wall. Camera showed plumbing that would have been more at home in the Addams Family. Had to go into the wall. Very neatly cut out the smallest section possible, cleared the drain, installed two cleanouts where NONE existed before. Left the bathroom spotless. I was as happy with the price as I could have been considering that it took more than six hours over two days. The only functionality lost was the use of the sink for that time, but we hadn't been able to use it for three days before I called Discount. These are the guys. And I will actually ask for Mike and Fred when I need a plumber again! read more

I needed major work done on our home. Our pipes were old and basically just stopped working for us. I knew nothing about pipes, sewers or washouts..until now. The job itself took a few days. We needed city permits, inspections, and basically an entire new piping system from the garage on out. They took care of all that for us. They kept us updated every step of the way. Answering phone calls and texts each and every time. Even outside of normal business hours. I must admit - I was so stressed during the process.. I have a family of 5 and we were without water for a few days. Thank god for family and thank god for Kunal.. and his boss Jason. They explained everything to us and broke it down to a level where I actually understood what was going on. I would talk about the work being done at my home while I was at work or with friends and it was amazing how everyone else knew so much about this stuff.. A friend of mine even offered to have her brother finish the job for less money but I felt really comfortable and had confidence with these guys. They came and delivered as promised. There is a reason they have solid 5 Star reviews... it just doesn't get any better! My garbage disposal was broken and was leaking everywhere, including under the sink. It was a nightmare! And how do you find a plumber? And which one do you trust? I turned to Yelp and it turned out to be a great decision. Naturally I saw the number of reviews for Courtesy and I just kept reading positive after positive comment. I didn't see the need to look any further and I desperately needed the garbage disposal fixed so I gave them a call. In less than 45 minutes they were at my door. As soon as I opened the door, they had all of the equipment ready and went straight to the problem. I explained how the garbage disposal had failed and within minutes they were working away on it. It couldn't have taken them more than 30-45 minutes and they were done! They even cleaned up the mess under the sink that the old disposal had made. They took everything back with them including the old garbage disposal. I paid them and they were on their way. Why can't everything in life be this simple and easy? read more
