I've been craving Korean BBQ for a couple of days and we decided to go for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We got to the restaurant at 12:30 and no one was there so we weren't sure if it was open or not (their open sign was lit) so we were able to flag a waitress down in the kitchen and she said they are open. We noticed that we can get their lunch special on a Saturday so we did that. My husband wanted the Bi Bim Neng Myun (try to say that 10 times). This is basically a cold thin noodle dish with a spicy sauce and a hard boiled egg. Within the past two times that we came here (6 months apart) they didn't have this noodle dish so we ended up with a lunch combination of Kalbe and Jap Chae ($18). It was good, the price point was pretty good considering the huge amount of meat they put on the plate. The negative point of this is for their appetizers, we usually get 8 different kinds but we only got four. Maybe it was because we ordered the lunch special but that should not matter. Also the lettuce in my salad was gross (see picture). I want to look for another Korean restaurant that will have Bi Bim Neng Muyn for my husband so my fellow Yelper friends in the San Fernando Valley please give me some recommendations. :) :) You guys are the best!!! read more

I don't usually write 1 star reviews and bad reviews but my previous experience with this place has made me very furious! So a couple of friends and I decided to go get some Kbarbs and they decided to pay majority in cash while I pay whatever is left in card. Also, they decided to pay tip with cash on the table so when I signed off my bill with no tip we decided to go home afterwards. I soon got an e-mail from my credit card company saying that I tipped with my card when I clearly didn't because we tipped with cash. I know $5 isn't that much but I feel betrayed and scammed for them to do something like this behind my back by adding their own tip with my money. I would recommend to be weary and keep a copy of your receipts, especially if you pay with card, or even just pay with cash and leave cash tips. Please be safe and be smart about your cards. The parking lot is tiny and no you cannot park in the lot that belongs to the clinic. I came early enough so the small lot had a lot of spots open. If you can get passed the parking situation then the overall experience will most likely be pleasant. The price is cheaper than the trending average for starters. The food never took too long to come out after we asked for it. The meat quality was decent, even for the lower grade AYCE option. The meat quality didn't degrade as our time at the restaurant grew. So about three years ago, the hubby and I visited this place. It's completely different from when we returned just this past month. The first time we came, everything was full price. The service kind of lagged and overall, we weren't too happy with it. Fast forward to now, and wow! Huge change. It's now an AYCE Korean bbq restaurant!! Yum!! They have four meats: beef, pork, chicken and marinated pork. Not only that, but they also have a special dipping sauce now. Trust me, that alone makes a world of difference. They didn't have that three years ago. They included a bowl of rice for each of us with a soup/broth, and all the side dishes--potato salad, kimchi, and many others (total of 8 or 10) all for $12.99 M-F. I'm not sure how much it is Sat/Sun. We both ate very happily and were impressed by the service, quality and variety of meats. Parking is right there in their lot, which is also a plus. Just left about 20 min ago. This place used to be awesome back in the day. I also noticed the more recent negative reviews from people, so to the guy I spoke with (maybe the manager?), I guess I really don't need to know the waitress personally to know that her service is terrible and that it would probably be best if you both parted ways. If her ass isn't happy there, then let her go, because I can assure you it's not worth losing customers over her. The guy kept trying to say "she was probably flustered, because I had to step out for an errand." Bro, that can go 1 of 2 ways. #1, if that was the case, you messed up as a manager leaving them to fend for themselves and not provide/offer adequate staffing. #2, if that was just some bs to try to make the situation better, it didn't help. That excuse makes it worse because it shows she can't handle the most minimum amount of people at one time. There were only 4 or 5 occupied tables (including us) when I got there. Each table had only 2 people, except one that had 4. That's nothing! There are packed diners with 50+ customers and 2 waitresses and they handle that better than the lady did with only 10ish people. And we are the ones doing all the work anyway!!! It's not like there's an excuse to wait for the food to be ready in the kitchen. WE ARE THE ONES COOKING!!! I'm not even sure if she spoke to be honest. Either she was mute or all she knew how to do was huff and puff whenever we had to remind her that she forgot something, which she never ended up bringing because she never appeared back to our table. I even had to ask the guy to change our grill because I was terrified to even talk to the waitress. Either way, that's why you got the tip you got. Hell, you're lucky you got something at all. I can't imagine a business being ok with losing customers or potential customers. Times are tough and everyone needs whatever they can get, so to pass up an opportunity to hold on to a customer that can potentially help get others to come to your place through word of mouth is just beyond me. Imagine what an apology would have made, instead of making excuses and telling your customer "if you knew her personally" or "trust me, no one is out to get you". I don't need to know ANY OF YOU personally. Do what other restaurants (that are actually successful) are doing. Treat the people that are keeping your business alive happy. Businesses fail to realize who is filling their bank accounts and allowing them to provide a paycheck to their workers. A friend of mine suggested this place. Came for a late lunch one day. I love Korean BBQ. We were greeted right when we walked in and got seated. The side dishes they gave you were so good. I always look forward to those and the salad because most places give you something different or its a different recipe. I enjoyed everything. I actually over ate because the food was so good. Our waitress was amazing and was constantly checking on us, even when it was a full house. I will be coming here again. The place is pretty simple. Nothing special to it. The bathroom is nice. The last time I was here was 20+ years ago. I remember it was good then and amazingly it's still pretty good. One of the best things is that you can have them cook your meat selection in the kitchen rather than cooking it yourself. While part of the experience of Korean BBQ is slowly cooking it yourself while enjoying the food and whomever you're dining with sometimes you just don't want to smell like smoke. If you like a variety of banchan, the little side dishes that usually go with Korean BBQ, you may be disappointed; they only have the standard ones and not much variety. Unfortunately a couple of families had squealing children, which ruins dining experiences. The service wasn't as attentive as most Korean BBQs, we had to call them over for everything and it wasn't busy on a Sunday late afternoon. One handicap parking spot in the front was confusing because the owner/managers vehicle was not in a real spot so we thought we were going to be blocking someone (this will make sense visually if you go there). I've been coming to pine tree pretty much since it's open. Even after their quick close down after the fire I've been coming here. It's pretty good kbbq for the price (although it has gotten pricy over the years). If you're looking for the basics (brisket, pork belly, chicken) this place is good! They have pretty good sides as well. The servers are kind of attentive. Chris is such a great owner, and always remembers me and my family whenever I walk in and eat! Parking lot on the property is small, but you can always park in the parking lot next door where there is ample parking. On the weekends there's a wait, but it's only like a 15-30 minute wait. This place was one of my family's favorite restaurants to go to, but not anymore. My family and I came here for their all you can eat dinner. What happened was this, it was our 2nd round of ordering meat and as always they're busy with serving the other side of the restaurant and we understand that. It did take a long time to get the guy's attention, but he saw us. We asked him to change the grill and to get us some meat. He said to us "are you guys done with this?" Came here on a Monday night and they were not extremely busy. I am so annoyed with this place. After the initial service, none of the servers came up to our table to ask if everything was okay, if we wanted more meat or to even refill our waters. Today, I was appalled when the waitress came back after taking our order requesting that we order a minimum of 2 orders to self BBQ. Apparently the unwritten rule is that if you order one plate of beef, it has to be cooked in the kitchen. I initially ordered one bulgogi for the 3 of us because we weren't very hungry. I did go ahead and ordered another plate of tongue. The server never gave us water and did apologize for forgetting. The bulgogi was marinated perfectly. The tongue was a little dry. This is our go-to Korean BBQ restaurant when the craving hits. I'd give it a 5-Star but the turn around on meat is slow at times. Generally it seems because they are busy and understaffed. The food is good though. Meat is super fresh and grills up perfectly. Seasoning is great- spicy but not too spicy. The sides are great as well. My favorite is the soup with turnip? daikon?
