First visit to PTL to celebrate a birthday! All of the food was wonderfully cooked and tasted fantastic! Healthy amount of portions for your buck and the service was phenomenal. We enjoyed the scenery on the deck and the band that was playing. We will definitely return soon.

As always, the restaurant was packed--which is always a great sign that something good is happening in that kitchen! My waitress, Bailey, was sweet, attentive, and very accommodating, making the experience even more enjoyable. I started with a cup of their famous tomato bisque, and let me just say... I simply cannot come here without ordering it. This heartwarming soup, made with slow-roasted tomatoes, shrimp stock, cream, and Creole seasoning, is rich, comforting, and truly soothing to the soul. It remains my absolute favorite--if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it! For my entrée, I ordered the Avocado Multi-Grain Toast. It's a light and satisfying plate featuring mashed avocado spread over thinly sliced multi-grain bread, served with your choice of sausage or bacon, an egg cooked your way, and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. Everything on the plate was well-prepared and very tasty. If I could make one small personal tweak, I would love to see this served on a thicker slice of buttery toasted sourdough, maybe with a sprinkle of feta on top. That's just my personal preference and how I enjoy my avocado toast--others may find this version just right as is! The search continues for my perfect avocado toast, but this was a delicious and enjoyable stop along the way. Happy Sunday, and keep sharing those amazing finds on Best Bites!

On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar and started with a Buffalo Trace bourbon while looking over the menu. The bartenders here are always attentive and welcoming; in fact, the bartender remembered me from previous visits, which speaks volumes about the level of service they provide. Dinner was a ribeye cooked medium-rare with asparagus, and it was exactly what a good steak should be: perfectly cooked, with great flavor, and served hot. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I followed that with their lemon icebox dessert and a lemon drop, both excellent, and finished the evening with a Four Roses Small Batch Select for a nightcap. What really sets J Wilson's apart is the staff's consistency and professionalism. The bartenders, servers, and kitchen team all seem to work together smoothly and take pride in the experience they deliver. Even on a busy night, with spring break crowds and daylight saving time throwing schedules off, the service remained attentive, and the food came out exactly right. If you're looking for a reliable steakhouse in Beaumont with excellent steaks, a strong bourbon selection, and top-notch service, J Wilson's is hard to beat. Five stars. Always a great experience.

From the moment we walked in, everything was on point. The restaurant was spotless and well-maintained, which immediately set a great tone. The service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and professional without being overbearing. The food truly stood out. Everything was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and clearly prepared with care. You can tell the team here takes pride in what they do. Overall, this location delivers on every front: great service, great food, and a clean, welcoming atmosphere. If you're anywhere near Beaumont, this Saltgrass is absolutely worth the visit. I'll definitely be coming back.

Disappointing. Out…read moreof town from Ohio and was looking for a "Texas Steak". Arrived on a Sunday at 5pm to an empty parking lot. We were told it would be a 15 min wait. The restaurant was at 1/4 capacity and should have been a red flag. Ambiance was Texas cliche and forgettable. When the hostess did take us back, the tables had not been bused yet? We ordered the fondeaux appetizer and drinks. I ordered a ginger ale, they gave me ginger beer without telling me. My mother in law ordered a mango margarita that came with no mango. Fondeaux was ok. We received our food at 630pm (1.5hrs after arrival) The porterhouse I got was seasoned and cooked to the correct temp but my Mac and cheese was cold and hard in some spots. It was not good even when it got replaced...school cafeteria quality. My wife's dish was scalding from the heat lamp and was dead. Our friend that ordered her steak med rare couldn't eat it because the toppings and steak itself were cold. Timing was definitely off. Service was not at a standard I would have expected. My "ginger ale" never got refilled and when I asked for it to be filled the waitress put in water? When the bill came we had an extra ribeye added to our bill and was missing a pasta dish for some reason, but they took off $120. Meal was still $111. Not worth it, even with the price drop. One of our party had to go to whataburger afterwards. I was embarrassed for this establishment.

The food did take a minute to get to the table.... But we were one of the first tables, actually THE first to be seated that evening. 3 out of the 4 people at our table said their food was horrible. One had chicken fried steak and complained that it was 'all breading' and couldn't taste the steak. One had a Philly cheesesteak type sandwich and complained that the steak was cubed as opposed to thin sliced like a cheese-steak should be. Also said it tasted nothing like it should've. The third person ordered a seafood dish that wasn't thoroughly cooked, as well as a side dish of a vegetable (can't remember which one) that tasted as though it had been soaked in pure vinegar. My plate was fine. But, I just had a plain ol' hamburger. The restaurant didn't even have the manager come over to discuss the issues at our table, which I thought was odd. Due to the multiple issues with the meals at just our table -- I doubt my family will return.
