Me, Ben, James & Molly all played here on a Sunday morning. Just on the foothills of the White Mountains so you get the tee box elevation on various holes. Some very beautiful views of the White Mountains from elevated tee boxes and a few elevated greens. Wide open fairways and greens that were all in great shape. The favorite was #10, Par 3 with elevated tee box & beautiful views. Don't be long or you'll be down the hill & pitching up a steep grade. All the tee boxes were in great repair and well marked. There is a restaurant attached with a nice view from the outside patio tables. You can view the short Par 3 10th hole from the patio which is entertaining. All the Staff were great and it all combined for a fantastic experience.

Well I decided, because of horror stories of Jacuzzis in hotels, that I was going to run a bottle of bleach with warm water through it when I got there. The jacuzzi was nasty the amount of dead skin and black mold that came out just from that was disgusting. The office sent housekeeping up to the room to clean the jacuzzi. And took half off our first night since we couldn't use it. We'll I decided to pull off the jets and look to see if they cleaned. Nope. I took a toothbrush and bleach and scrubbed every single jet. This is my vacation. I have worked my ass off this summer and paid alot of money to literally scrub a jacuzzi to use ONE time! Will NEVER go back and will NEVER recommend to anyone. Attended a wedding at Rustic Gatherings Lodge planned by my family living in southeaster…read moreMassachusetts, and almost all 100 guests came from that area and Rhode Island and Connecticut! 17 members of wedding party and closest family and friends lodged there two nights before the wedding, and all arriving guests as well on the wedding day were taken by private deluxe golf-cart down a slight hill to the wedding venue set-up on the side of the gorgeous Baker River. A heavenly sight, enhanced by hundreds of white lights along the path down the hill, on the perimeter of the huge banquet tent, and lighted torches along the river side. Enjoyed a spectacular Farm-to-table buffet. Bottom line: everyone attending expressed the view that this was the most elegant, beautiful wedding they ever attended!

When we parked at the section we were assigned, my friend was told there's a X car limit per party. Somehow, we managed to get parking, but it wasn't in front of our complex since there were several vehicles scattered in the lot. Inside the room, were 2 single beds and 1 that can be shared. The bathtub was so small that one of my legs had to be on the outside if I wanted to sit down. There is a kitchen available if you choose to make your own meals. There's also Wi-Fi (password in a binder). The quiet time isn't enforced at all, our neighbors could be heard partying the night away. At the main office of the resort, there's a pool and sauna. There's also a gym, but not much to work with unless you enjoy cardio. My only complaint is the lack of restaurants nearby, but other than that, I'd definitely come back.

The front desk is located where the pool and arcade is. It's not a very welcoming area as a "Front Desk/Foyer" should be. The stairs leading up to that area have paint chipping and wood in desperate need of repair. Upon looking, they look extremely unsafe, but are not. The arcade needs updating. Most games were vintage and out of order. The hot tub area was a complete mess! The hot tub itself was clean and enjoyable. The walls of the hot tub area looked moldy with paint shipping. White walls had spots of black and the vent in the wall leading outside needs a definite cleaning. In general, that whole area looks unsanitary. Overall, the resort did the job of what was needed, but the aesthetics and overall look of the place could definitely use a refresher. I feel badly for the families that own these units, they are not represented properly.

Stayed here for a work-related getaway this winter and it's really quite impressive. It's…read moredefinitely the type of place I would love to revisit during the summer while I could see the property in full bloom, though it was really beautiful covered in a blanket of snow. The estate is made up of several buildings. There is a large mansion with lots of bedrooms (I think I counted 8 at least, not including a little hidden alcove with a real-life hidden room behind a bookshelf!), most of them with private bathrooms, though not all of them including showers, and with a variety of sleeping arrangements. Some had large beds, some with bunk beds, all of them comfortable. We got a bunk bed room but the mattress was great and there were real feather pillows. This main building has a large dining space with a piano, two big fireplace sitting rooms, and a beautiful industrial size kitchen with all the things you need to cook for a crowd. The smaller buildings include a barn with several bedrooms, another smaller house with its own kitchen, and a large theater which also may have had a bedroom or two, but I didn't get a chance to look around there. All of the buildings were very well maintained, impeccably clean, and spacious for a crowd. I can see why people would have an intimate 40-person wedding or family reunion type gathering here. I did find the artwork in the main building to be interesting - lots of different styles and not all from the same period. I'm not an artist so it was more interesting to me than anything but if you're looking for something very cohesive or a certain style you might be a bit surprised. Also - lots of signage. Something about a thousand signs of Do's and Don'ts everywhere makes me worry that the ownership is overly anxious about the property, but maybe they've had big issues with boarders in the past, I don't know. We had a really fantastic breakfast prepared by the staff/curators; it was beyond opulent with fresh fruit, breakfast pastries and breads, ham and egg sandwiches, sausages, yogurt, and some sort of a breakfast pasta that really made me go HRMMM to look at but when my husband convinced me to give it a try I was humbled by how tasty it was. Tasted like... breakfast pasta. Ha! That evening, the staff made an amazing bonfire out on the grounds, complete with warm blankets, Ghirardelli s'mores, hot cocoa, and truffled popcorn. As we were wrapping up for the night out there, suddenly there was a fireworks show that even our event organizer for the weekend didn't know about. Very lovely and unexpected. My one BIG issue that I wish could be addressed was the navigation issues in getting there. For the most part, people had no problem driving there, but my husband and I used Google Maps and Apple Maps to navigate there on both our phones and not only is the cell service practically nonexistent up there in the mountains, both of those apps took us to what felt like the middle of nowhere on rural unpaved, streetlight-less roads. This happened to a couple other members of our party as well. It actually took us an extra hour of driving around anxiously in the dark trying to find the place and to several dead end and unplowed roads. The website itself doesn't give any clear directions to the estate, though it does give coordinates for flying your personal helicopter there... I don't have that option these days, though. :)

Stacy is militant about cleanliness. And being personally part of the cleanup crew I can attest to the job we did after the wedding. However Stacy dug into the trash and found cigarette butts and charged the bride $150 PER BUTT to the tune of several thousand dollars. In the middle of the reception. The inappropriately dressed staff kept the brides mother from entering the main house to use the bathroom. She's 95. He found a leaf in the hot tub and charged her for cleaning the tub. Which, if you're a respectable establishment. You should be cleaning that anyways, between EVERY guest's stay. Several times in the lead up to the event Stacy threatened to cancel the event leading to multiple breakdowns - emotional, not automotive. He maintained a persistent presence in the house during the stay of the bridal party, which was annoying. The bride and groom have been in a protracted battle with Stacy to get their security deposit back. The bride just wants it to be over. The unfriendliness of the staff, the rules imposed, considering the exorbitant price paid - tens of thousands of dollars. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We drove up to listen to "The Jovial Crew" Saturday. This group performs Shanty, folklore rich songs of the sea, pub and more. Amazing vocals from the guys and a chance to join in to sing along. This was a BYOB event, a traditional Grog mix was provided by the Inn Keepers (non alcoholic) to which you could add the "Spirit"that you brought with you. House made Desserts were included with admission. They even had some themed treats, Hardtack and Joe Froggers. If you were staying at the Follansbee Inn, admission for the concert was included. For locals, tickets were available at the door. But, stay at the Inn for an overnight, their Breakfasts are included and amazingly delicious.
