Found this lovely restaurant after a long day at Gilroy Garden. PadThai was delicious that came with chicken and prawns, unlike most Thai restaurant you only get to choose one flavor. Same as Pineapple Fried Rice, a must order. Lemongrass Pork Skillet was my least favorite, its got this funny taste (taste like baking soda but could be the lemon grass favor? ) I don't know how to describe it. I got a combo plate with samosas, pad Thai, and pineapple fried rice. The fried rice was kinda dry and the pad Thai was a bit to sweet and had way too much eggs for my taste. However the samosas were really good I wish I had order that by itself. The roti prata was delicious but I wish I got it with the green sauce instead of the red. They were very full so my Togo order took 20 mins to make and about 10 mins for them to even take my order. Awesome food. Heart-Attack Fried Rice were amazing, yummy, spicy and very Asian. Diced sea food was also abundant in the rice. It is served in a cast iron bowl which keeps your food hot until the last spoon (literally). I also had Garlic Calamari in appetizer. Another gem. Never had such lightly breaded crispy calamari. Then when they said they would clear a table, he went off to do something else..... when you only have a1 hour for lunch break, time is of the essence. We've been here several times with great food and service, but this time was not to be believed. We arrived and stood for 10min before being sat. This is normal, as there is limited seating and this is certainly a good place for thai food. After 10min we ordered and awaited the food. Others continued to sit around us as normal, but after our first entree arrived we did not see any food for over an hour. Meanwhile those who sat after us 20 and 30 minutes later all received their food including dishes WE had ordered... I spoke to our waitress explaining we are seeing food served to others who came in long before us and all she would say is 'sorry we are trying'.... I don't know WHO they were trying for, but it was not us. After over an hour of waiting and seeing others finish their plates that should have been served to us we cancelled the rest of our order and paid our bill. We were not upset at the wait, but we were upset that clearly dishes we had ordered 20 and 30 minutes ahead of others were not provided to us. My wife believes the other servers grabbed our plates to serve to their customers, while our waitress was clueless. I simply don't know... but it makes it hard to return when you are going to be wary of sitting for a very long time without knowing the results. read more

Choose your server wisely. The food is 4 stars. The belachan vegetables were the hit dish. The flavor was great. The spider spring roll and lava fish were tasty. The house curry was a bit watery, but tasty with a bit of heat. The chicken in it was a weird over tenderized texture though. The house only real miss was the tamarind ribs. They appeared to be sous vide just barely long enough and then pan seared on two sides. If you've cooked anything with a sous vide, you'd know how slimy and pale the unseared portions are. The unfortunate problem was that our server was having a terrible day. I'll give her that benefit of the doubt. She was surly the moment we walked in complaining that somebody needed to come back. She had issues communicating truthfully/accurately and not in a blunt way. We ordered the spider roll and about 5 minutes later she came back and without context asked if tempura shrimp was ok!?! I had overheard the nearby table being asked by their server if they could substitute their spider roll with something else because they didn't have enough soft shell crab to fulfill all the orders. They retracted their order so there should have been enough for us. I told her that I heard there was enough to fulfill some orders, but she just shut it down with some bizarre story about another table's order. Later the table behind us was approached by their survey saying that they could make the spider roll. They still turned it down probably now realizing that we had placed the order first. I then had to grab their server to ask WTF was going on at which point he said we could have the dish. We waited what felt like an eternity but was more like 25 minutes with a hungry child while several later arriving tables got their food. I tried to politely ask our server if there was a problem with our order. She tried blaming the kitchen being backed up but that she yelled at them like that was an appropriate solution. When told several other tables received their meals, she said it was because our spider rolls were holding things up. Moments later almost all our dishes show up at once. No acknowledgement that our original spider roll Ofer was being served. Again with no context, I get a random half hearted "I'm so sorry" as she fills my water?!? There's an experienced server wanted sign as you walk in. That can't come soon enough. read more

Their Singapore noodles were good, but my kids didn't really like it -- and they like all kinds of noodles. For their curry, it was probably the best dish we ordered, but too spicy for the kids. The first time I ever came here it blew me away with their flavor and creativity with the dishes. With this first trip brought instant favorites and nothing short of amazing food. Since returing time after time it really never compared to that first trip but yet still my favorite Asian food in gilroy. Super sad to say we're slightly disappointed with our Pineapple Village experience.... We were really hoping to like it too, trusting in good Yelp reviews. Our food was pretty bland and tasteless. The garlic calamari was lacking any hint of garlic (& in Gilroy?) the egg rolls weren't great and served without sweet and sour, the pad thai was alright, tasted more like plain noodles, the lemon chicken was very dry and difficult to eat without a knife, and it wasn't lemony at all. All in all, very veeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry toned down flavors. Sad to say we won't be back. read more

I was in the mood for Thai/Asian Fusion, so I made my dining partner drive 30 minutes to Gilroy with me to check out the Pineapple Village. I picked Pineapple Village over Saigon - 2 - Siam Bistro because it seemed like the menu was a little more friendly for picky eaters who don't really eat vegetables; they have things on the menu like no-fuss chicken teriyaki, steak cubes, and pot stickers. As it happened, my dining partner was so convinced that he wouldn't like anything that I was allowed to order whatever I wanted, so I decided to go with something simple for appetizers and try something I wasn't familiar with for entrees. We started with pot stickers, which were good, and shrimp tempura that bore no resemblance to tempura at all. (Tempura is a light, fluffy batter, and this was more like the breading you get on frozen chicken tenders.) For our entrees we got the tamarind baby back ribs and the "Heart Attack fried rice." The ribs were a touch difficult to eat without a knife (had to pick them up with your hands), and although I thought the tamarind sauce had a nice flavor the ribs themselves were fatty and not that flavorful. The Heart Attack fried rice was inedible. It had a weird fishy taste combined with something unpleasantly "earthy," and it wasn't totally clear which seafood bits were which. We should have sent it back, but it was late and we didn't want them to have to cook something else when the restaurant was going to close soon. It's possible that other dishes on the menu are better than the ones we tried -- probably should have taken some suggestions from other reviewers -- but I don't think I'll be back to try them. read more

Not sure if it was just that evening but the drink was too noticeably watered down. And then they add a shovelful of ice which makes the situation about 10x worse. Roti paratha was excellent. The bread was perfectly crispy where it needed to be but soft enough to melt in your mouth. accompanying curry was also good. The showstopper was definitely the mango momo. So flavorful, the beef was tender, I absolutely LOVED IT. My son also ate above capacity which is every mother's dream come true. The veg fried rice was also quite good. Took my Wife here for her Birthday Dinner, it was very good. Great service and the food superb, the Singapore Noodles with chili oil was our favorite, then Sesame Honey Prawns huge prawns.
