The highlight of our shelter in place has been receiving Door Dash deliveries from Pineapple Village! I was really hoping to like this place. We are from Sacramento but have had Thai food from our hometown as well as San Francisco and other places as well. We got several dishes to try, the Siam Prawns, Tom Yum, Squid Noodle, Sautéed Baby Bok Choy, and the Roti. Everything had so much grease. They do use a lot of flavors, and if you're used to/ enjoy greasy food then you will probably like this place, but for my family it didn't really hit the spot. Even the Bok Choy, which we got as a side of vegetables, was super greasy and cooked to the point of being limp. The Siam Prawns had a thick, sticky, sweet sauce and was so greasy I couldn't even finish a small portion of it. The sauce from the Siam Prawns literally reminded me of Panda Express. The Tom Yum had vegetables but none of the Thai flavors we were used to, it lacked lemongrass, ginger, lime leaves, (which our favorite go to Thai place always puts in our Tom Yum)- the Tom Yum they make here tasted like watery vegetable soup. All the flavor in the soup was just from the vegetables in it, which is not how Tom Yum is traditionally made. The Squid Noodle soup was the best thing we tried here, and it seemed to have some of the authentic flavor profile we were used to. The Roti I did really enjoy as well, however I was confused by it being on the menu since it is traditionally an Indian dish? I will say that the portion sizes are generous, and they are very plentiful with their meat and vegetables. Everything was clean and the quality of the produce from what I could tell was good. We took our food to go, and it was packed neatly and it was ready more or less when they said it would be. It just was too Americanized in the preparation of the food and lacked the flavors of the Thai kitchen we were accustomed, maybe we are just spoiled at this point? read more

I was traveling thru Gilroy on the way to visit family in So Cal when I found this place online. I called them for delivery and they said they didn't deliver but that I could use DoorDash. I had not used DoorDash before, but I downloaded the App, and ordered. The dasher did his job, and delivered from Pineapple Village. There were no utensils or napkins. Not even chop sticks, with my order. I called the restaurant and they said that I had to have requested them. WHAT? I was in a hotel that did not have restaurant service due to Covid, so there were no utensils at the hotel and I had ordered soup and a dish that required a fork or chopsticks. So, I did not try the food from this place. It is sitting in my garbage can in my room. Come on people -- get your act together. read more

Great food items but terrible customer service. Staff is incapable of understanding simple instructions. Every single time I order over the phone I cannot leave without checking the order and EVERY SINGLE time the order is wrong. I am then forced to wait and waste my time as the kitchen tries to understand how they messed up this time before even offering a solution And today was special instead of offering a solution the supposed "assistant manager" told me not to order food anymore. I went here with a group of coworkers. I ordered the Honey Sesame Chicken and it was so delicious! I got the lunch special which gave me a side; I ordered Pot Stickers. The pot stickers weren't the best but honestly they never are at Thai food places. They all sort of have a freezer burn to them. Anyhoodles the chicken was divine and I'll definitely be ordering that for lunch again sometime soon. If you do go in a group, don't expect your food to all be out at the same time. The live music on the patio was a wonderful welcome to this lovely, airy restaurant. We were greeted and seated immediately. All wait staff were friendly, smiling and looked genuinely happy to be working at this place. Based on the reviews we ordered the roti and shrimp tempura for apps, and the Mango Momo and the Pineapple Village curry with chicken. We wanted rice, and decided on pork fried rice, but our server, an enthusiastic young man who was very attentive suggested we try a pork rice dish that was served in a cast iron bowl. Only 1.00 more and filled with flavor and large pieces of pork--he thought we would enjoy it and we did. The Mango Momo was filled with large pieces of red pepper and onion and the meat was very tender. The sauce was dark and a little sweet-- we would definitely order that again. The chicken curry was great as well tho the other two dishes really blew us away. We really liked that the rice and beef dishes were served on cast iron--kept the food hot the entire time. The service was exceptional. He didn't hover but was there at the exact moment we needed more water or chopsticks or "to go" boxes and we really appreciated his knowledge of the menu and willingness to make recommendations. We wanted to step out of our comfort zone and try out something new. Pineapple Village was not short of that. It had a vast variety of foods, a few vegetarian options as well. We started up getting samosas and potstickers. The pineapple fried rice was delicious, as was the lemon chicken. The teriyaki chicken could've had a bit more flavor, and the grilled volcano chicken could've been spicier as I expected to be. It was all still great. When in Gilroy, you seemingly don't have that many options for food. The first time I came here to go shopping, my friends and I settled for diner style food at OD's Kitchen. Sure, it was great, but what if we wanted something that wasn't American? Surprisingly, Gilroy actually has a ton of ethnic and Asian restaurants. The question becomes not how many, but how good are they? For example, if you are shopping at Gilroy Outlets, you've probably seen popup signs for Ginger Cafe. The pictures make this place seem very tempting, but reviews are mediocre (about 3.5 stars). Now, what if I told you that there's this PRETTY GOOD place nearby called Pineapple Village that serves Thai/Vietnamese fusion cuisine? When my girlfriend found this gem, I thought she was trolling me. Of all places, we are going to go to a Thai/Vietnamese fusion restaurant? But this place had really decent reviews and the food looked great, so we decided to give it a try. Pineapple village is located in a huge shopping plaza and so you won't have trouble finding parking; we actually pulled straight up next to the restaurant. The place was relatively empty when we came around noon on a Sunday for a shopping break. The place was also quite small, but we were happily snug in a booth. P.S. shoutout for those nice tables! For a Thai/Vietnamese fusion restaurant, it looks like this place leans more toward the Thai side. Their menu is pretty simple, with a good number of items for appetizers, noodles, rice, etc. Looking on Yelp, we noticed that people ordered the Roti, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Mango Momo pretty frequently, and so we got those three... Roti (10/10). When I order Roti, there are really only a few things that should be expected. It should be 1. relatively inexpensive, 2. have a good/decent curry dip, 3. the bread should be fluffy and warm. Overall, the roti definitely satisfied all three and then some. It was only $3, the curry was amazing (I used for everything else), and the bread was delicious. I would order again. Mango Momo (9/10). There is a reason why people keep suggesting the Mango Momo. This dish is bomb.com and should be ordered ALL THE TIME. Although there weren't that many mango pieces and the dish was lacking a bit in that mango kick, the overall taste of the Momo was great. The beef was super juicy and tender, there was an abundance of bell peppers, and the portion size was bigger than expected. Pineapple Fried Rice (7/10). The disappointment came with the Pineapple Fried Rice. You'd think that when your restaurant is called Pineapple Village, they'd have heavenly Pineapple Fried Rice. Unfortunately, I was a bit turned off. The dish itself tasted okay, but it wasn't amazing. There was a funky smell throughout that may have been from the tartiness of the pineapples but it was a bit weird. The pineapples themselves were juicy, but you will easily lose interest in this dish. The saving grace was my curry that I poured over it. Overall, Pineapple Village is a great pitstop if you want Asian food in Gilroy. Although it is a bit more on the pricey end for what you get, the food is still great. The service was efficient, place was clean, and I would give this place a "Nice-su, can take your parents here and they'll have a good time" rating. Eat well and prosper, read more

We had take-out and not only were our requests not followed, normal items were missing. No sauce for pot stickers, no hot mustard when requested for egg rolls. Special request of not so many onions with Mangolian Beef ended up with 95% onions. The chow mein vegetables were left very large, as was the chicken - had to cut to eat. When I called to let the manager know our dissatisfaction his replay was basically "what can I do, cook it now for you?" I said was any degree of help, but he just blamed it on being busy and no regret. The dishes are not inexpensive and the attitude tops off our crummy meal. We opted to try this place due to our craving for something different when in Gilroy. Upon entrance we were greeted right away despite the waiter being on the phone (taking an order). We ordered Pad Thai, Heart Attack Fried Rice, and Sizzling Beef Mignon (all based on suggestions I read here on Yelp). Beforehand, we also ordered Garlic Calamari to start, alongside Thai Iced Tea. Oh, and mango sticky rice to go for my dessert. Thai Iced Tea - excellent. I could have drank a whole pitcher. Garlic Calamari - a little skimpy on the calamari themselves, feeling like we were just having mostly the batter; but very flavorful. I like the jalapenos and such that accompanied it. Pad Thai - good. Not quite as authentic in flavors. Heart Attack Fried rice - very good. Ample serving with rich flavors. might be greasy for some? Sizzling Beef Mignon - just like everyone claims, excellent. Flavors were spot on and I am mouth watering just talking about it. Mango sticky rice - as good as it gets. (I had this one to go so that I may enjoy it with hot tea) There you have it...a great place, good food, and good service from our waiter--whom was quite a trooper despite being on the floor by himself. We ordered egg foo young which was dry and had NO chicken, teriyaki chicken which was rubbery and tasteless, money bags (AKA crab rangoon) that were NOT fresh, and Buddha fries which were tasty but the aioli dipping sauce was omitted. The $45 we spent was absolutely not worth it. EDIT: I called and expressed my concerns over the subpar meal. Wow! Great customer service skills. Our server was so kind and accommodating. I couldn't make up my mind on what I wanted to eat. I usually don't do well with sweet and sour plates so I wasn't sure if I wanted the Curry Tofu and Vegetable tofu, but it sounded really good! I was reluctant because it had potato and pineapple in it. The two didn't seem like they would go well together. I told the server I was having trouble picking and she said I'll grab a sample for you and it was delicious! The sample just had the curry though. I didn't risk it and I wanted to stay under my carbs for the day so I ordered the Sizzling Vegetable Delight. It was okay but I wish I would have ordered the curry tofu entree. This is some pretty good Thai. I generally come here for the chicken pad thai, and it has never once disappointed. They're generally not very busy during lunch, and are accommodating to large groups. This is the best Thai food so far in Morgan Hill-Gilroy area but there are some dishes that need to be avoided. Must TRY: 1) Heart attack fried rice - it's made with belachan (shrimp paste) and seafood; serves in a hot stone bowl; better taste when it's spicy, Thai hot but you need to request it. 2) Sizzling beef mignon - it's an asian fusion sauteed beef with veggies.
