Third visit here. Documenting what we ordered for future reference. Calamari, Honey Sesame chicken, Shrimp walnut prawns, Basil Fried Rice, Mango Momo, Strawberry Lemonade. Everything was so good. Serving size is not small but not too big. We usually have a little left over of each. Walnut prawns can use more sauce but good enough. Calamari was more calamari than batter unlike others. Basil fried rice was my other fave. Service here has been consistently good. Efficient and courteous. It gets busy but it is a good size restaurant so there's enough room for a crowd or for a party of two. The one other consistent thing is the sticky floor. The flooring is nice. The restaurant is good for families and take out. Nicely decorated interior. Friendly staff. The food was good, nothing unique from most other Thai restaurants. The fillet sizzling plates were by far the best along with the vegetarian fried rice. Roti and Mango Sticky Rice was a hit as anywhere else. The food took a bit of time to come up. This restaurant was one of our favorites. We would celebrate all birthday parties here but they have a new manager (ponytail) that is rude and disrespectful. This is the 2nd incident with this manager who basically refused service for no apparent reason. Came in at 8:30pm, was asked to wait about 30 minute. Went in to check on our table and was told another family had a reservation and that they would be the last table they served,. They close at 10 pm, it was 9 pm. Mind you they had told a friend a week before that they didn't take reservations. What the hell! Horrible service, will not be returning! read more

I got the drunken noodles and Thai papaya salad and I'm not one to leave bad reviews but ... This is by far the worst papaya salad I've ever had. It was nowhere near authentic to Thai papaya salad where it's fresh, acidic, spicy and the papaya is crunchy. This papaya was very flat, no fish sauce taste, so sweet, not crunchy. I was hesitant to try since I get majority of my foods in San Jose, but I decided to give it a try in gilroy. If you're coming here, do not get the papaya salad. We were looking for a place to eat since the our normal noodle place has since closed. The parking isn't bad, there is ample parking and once we walked in to the place we were greeted and seated. The restaurant was busy for a Sunday late lunch. I have to say the food was delicious. The kids had the clay pot fried rice which they really enjoyed, we also ordered the mango salad, bbq chicken, some plum or mango specialty dish that was really good. I rate the service a 3 and the food a 2. This restaurant shares space with the JellyFish restaurant. We entered the jellyfish but was seated in the Pineapple Village and given 2 separate restaurant menus. Luckily our server provided decent customer service; however, the food was ok. Other than the fried okra from the Jellyfish restaurant, which was perfectly seasoned, the rest of the food wasn't that great. The Panang curry had good flavor, but the chicken had a weird texture. It was almost too tender/border line slimy. I've never had anything like it before - it was off putting. I asked the waitress if she could double check the type of meat it was. My husband ordered the gumbo from the Jellyfish, and the chicken looked and texturally felt like chicken breast. The other good item from the Jellyfish restaurant was the mango sweet rice. My wife and I have been coming to Pineapple Village for over 10 years. Never again. My wife ordered food to take home. However, she called me and said to meet her there so we could dine in. The place was not busy, over 15 tables available. I walked in and my wife was talking to staff, very upset because they would not let her change order or dine in. Why?? There were so many available tables, eventually they unwillingly let us dine in, however the manager told us we had to eat at the table by the bathroom!!! Really?? We chose one of the many other open tables not by bathroom. I didn't know there was assigned sitting. We ate our food, still upset. An older couple walked by and said they thought we were discriminated against, and they never heard of such a policy. Especially since there were so many tables!!! They said we are never coming back and did not leave a tip. I tried to talk to a manager after we ate to calmly explain they should focus on customer service and be adaptable. Their policy would make sense if the restaurant was full, use common sense. The policy is not written in blood!! lol anyways, she told me she was done talking to me and had nothing to apologize for. The service was good, was seated right away and servers were helpful when it comes to recommending food on their menu. The ambiance of the restaurant was okay, they have outside dining which is nice. Food we got: egg flower soup, pad Thai, village fried rice, chicken satay, and lemon grass chicken. My favorite was the chicken satay, fried rice, and the egg soup, everything else was okay. My initial thought for the pad Thai was that it was lacking that peanut taste that most pad Thai have, it did taste okay when i mixed the peanut sauce that the chicken satay came with. This is a long overdue review! This place is amazing! My husband and I had been coming here for a while, even though it was a drive from San Jose. We'd meet our friends from Monterey for dinners and such, and it never disappointed. We decided to have our rehearsal dinner here, and with a very large family they again, did not disappoint! My family still remarked how good the food was when they were out visiting. We decided to come in today, celebrating our 5 year anniversary. And still they are so delicious!! We enjoyed our dining experience at Pineapple Village. The ambience is very comfortable yet energizing. Soft rock was playing throughout the restaurant, but with the tables filling up very quickly, one could barely hear the music. However, it was not so loud to interfere with our personal conversation. There were singles, couples and families with children dining when we arrived. It is a very popular place for lunch, dinner and brunch. Pineapple Village serves Thai, Vietnamese and Asian-fusion gourmet food. The menu is extremely varied, and has a multitude of selections. A separate menu is available with vegetarian choices. We started with appetizers: Green Papaya Salad with Strawberries (very spicy!), Golden Money Bag, and steamed Potstickers filled with chicken. The Green Papaya Salad consists of shredded green papayas, tossed in a mix of strawberries, jalapenos with a very light dressing. The Golden Money Bag is crab meat and cream cheese formed in a fried crispy wonton wrapper. The Potstickers are chicken dumplings served with a house vinegar sauce. They are usually pan friend, but we requested them to be steamed per our preference. For our entrees, we continued with the Honey Sesame Prawns and Cumin Lamb. The Honey Sesame Prawns consisted of battered prawn tossed in a creamy honey-mayo sauce. They were slightly sweet and creamy with the added honey. Delicious! There were twelve medium size prawns on the platter. The Cumin Lamb was sliced lamb seasoned with peppercorn & cumin, stir fried with yellow onions, scallions, chili peppers, cilantro and roasted sesame seeds. It is served with Roti Preta. The lamb was very tender & full of flavor. We chose to share the Fried Banana a la Mode for our dessert, which was fantastic. Definitely an enjoyable dining experience. read more
