We enjoyed our dining experience at Pineapple Village. The ambience is very comfortable yet energizing. Soft rock was playing throughout the restaurant, but with the tables filling up very quickly, one could barely hear the music. However, it was not so loud to interfere with our personal conversation. There were singles, couples and families with children dining when we arrived. It is a very popular place for lunch, dinner and brunch. Pineapple Village serves Thai, Vietnamese and Asian-fusion gourmet food. The menu is extremely varied, and has a multitude of selections. A separate menu is available with vegetarian choices. We started with appetizers: Green Papaya Salad with Strawberries (very spicy!), Golden Money Bag, and steamed Potstickers filled with chicken. The Green Papaya Salad consists of shredded green papayas, tossed in a mix of strawberries, jalapenos with a very light dressing. The Golden Money Bag is crab meat and cream cheese formed in a fried crispy wonton wrapper. The Potstickers are chicken dumplings served with a house vinegar sauce. They are usually pan friend, but we requested them to be steamed per our preference. For our entrees, we continued with the Honey Sesame Prawns and Cumin Lamb. The Honey Sesame Prawns consisted of battered prawn tossed in a creamy honey-mayo sauce. They were slightly sweet and creamy with the added honey. Delicious! There were twelve medium size prawns on the platter. The Cumin Lamb was sliced lamb seasoned with peppercorn & cumin, stir fried with yellow onions, scallions, chili peppers, cilantro and roasted sesame seeds. It is served with Roti Preta. The lamb was very tender & full of flavor. We chose to share the Fried Banana a la Mode for our dessert, which was fantastic. Definitely an enjoyable dining experience. read more

I'll definitely come here again the next time I'm in Gilroy. ~Food~ We got the roti prata, egg rolls, vegetarian tom yum soup, vegetarian honey walnut "shrimp", shrimp and chicken pineapple fried rice, lemongrass pork, and mango sticky rice for dessert. The roti prata and egg rolls were yummy--I wish we ordered more of the roti prata!! Tom Yum soup is also one of my favorites at thai restaurants and I loved the broth. The honey walnut shrimp was also so good; it tastes like real shrimp (but it is fried hahaha). The pineapple fried rice also had so much chicken and shrimp..usually other restaurants would skimp on the shrimp. Normally I am hesistant to order lemongrass pork at other restaurants since the cut of meat tends to be not very good and sometimes the meat is dry. But Pineapple Village's lemongrass pork was soo flavorful and tender. ~Location~ We ate outdoors due to COVID of course, and the seating area was nicely decorated. I liked how they didn't make a sealed up tent which defeats the purpose of eating outdoors lol. This was probably the worst experience we've had in awhile. We went here for my mothers birthday as a party of 8. We understand that there was a possibility that at the end of the meal we would be charged an 18% fee for our party size (We were never told this but we always know it's a chance.) We did two separate checks, both of which were charge the 18% fee. We spoke to the manager who informed us it was because of our party size. We told them we understood that but we should be charged 9% on each rather than both having the 18%. She informed us that we were charged on both because there were two separate tickets. If that was the case than we technically weren't a party of 8 but a party of 3 and 5. She refused to understand that there shouldn't be an 18% on each but split between both bills. We paid and left and this will be the last time we go. That feels very sneaky, especially since no one told us about the double charge when we were asking if they split bills. Their food was amazing. Came here based on Yelp reviews on a long drive back from down south. We tried their Heart Attack Rice and drunken noodles with beef. The heart attack rice was definitely a favorite- so fragrant and bold flavors, a little spicy. And the beef in the drunken noodles was so tender. We were also able to try their strawberry pork which was given to us bc they made it accidentally for another customer. It sounded interesting but the taste was amazing. My wife and I were passing through and found this restaurant in Yelp. Gave it a try and liked it. We ordered 5 items: the red curry, tom yum soup, drunken noodles, calamari, and fisherman's shrimp. This little place is clean and filled with tasteful decor. The service was wonderful, fast and responsive. We definitely enjoyed our visit. Here are my thoughts on the items we ordered, although they can be subjective to our taste, it may help some when choosing things to order. 1) The drunken noodles were good. Taste could have been slightly saltier, but over all it was very satisfying. The beef they put in was super tender and really made this dish a joy. This is a must try. 2) The Tom Yum soup reminded me a little more of tomatoes soup. Being an Asian fusion restaurant, I can see this working fine. It tasted great, but just not what I was expecting when having tom yum. 3) The red curry was tastey, but we did not like the pineapple flavor infused in it. This is subjective to our taste. Although it wasn't for us, many may enjoy it. The chicken in it was wonderful though, super tender! 4) The calamari is a MUST! Absolutely delicious. It's hard to find good salt and pepper style calamari and this is great. Very crispy, tons of flavor, and the dipping sauce is wonderful as well. 5) Lastly the shrimp is a must! She is so inviting and helpful when taking your order. Here are some food items we typically order: 1. The pineapple fried rice - comes with generous portions of large shrimp and chunks of chicken and chunks of pineapples (not overbearing in flavor but just right amount of sweetness). This rice is not too salty and with the right amount of garlic. 2. Wanton soup - they have a variety of soups and we like all their different wanton soups available. All of them are delicious, but piping hot when it is brought out to you (you have been warned). 3. Fried Calamari - this is hands down the best calamari we have tasted in NorCal. It is bursting with flavors, served in perfect crispy batter and in generous portions. Not too oily and not too salty. It is a spicy dish but you can request for it to be non-spicy. Being hungry in Gilroy brought us here. Walked up and got a table outside. As we were sitting I noticed several tables just sitting around waiting which I thought was a bad sign of service, but I was wrong. We got acknowledged in a timely matter, our drinks and appetizer was ordered and received in a decent amount of time and our food followed not long after. The food was pretty good and so was our server. You can tell the staff were hustling to please. The place was full to their capacity of every other table. Everyone was spaced out and staff were wearing mask. Take out was constant as people were pulling up, grabbing and going. Easy to read menu, with not so typical dishes. I chose the Drunken noodle with beef medallion, and a Thai tea with coconut milk as a substitute for half and half. The food arrived quickly and hot-two of my favorite reasons to rate an establishment high. Once I tasted the food I told the waiter, "Now I know why you almost get 5 stars". He beamed behind his mask. The Bok Choi was even flavorful, lots of good sized tender beef and although the noodles were a little sticky, the entire dishes aroma and sauce was very nice. I decided to give this place another try after I witnessed the owner (older Asian lady) going off on her employee In front of a packed restaurant. Tonight I came here and ordered drunken noodle, a plate I frequent and the rice noodles were small (Pad Thai) and sticky which ruined the texture of the meal. When I brought it to the waitress's attention, she said "yeah I know, we ran out but I asked her (guessing the owner) and she said that they're still white noodle." Was craving Thai after shopping at the Gilroy outlets and ventured to the downtown area. Around 11:30 AM, there was a really large party and two smaller parties. Luckily our waiter took in our order before the large party, he was friendly and nice. For a Thai place, I was surprised there was only one curry option, and it had pineapple? Ordered the pad thai and pineapple curry with a side of white rice. The pad thai was standard, but I would say the way they cut up the chicken for their dishes is a bit unappetizing. My pineapple curry was surprisingly flavorful, and the chunks of pineapple didn't bother me too much. However, the rice did. It was hard and tasted days old. I finally decided to tell the waiter since it is a separate charge, and he brought me out new rice and did admit they gave us day old rice.
