The name "bakery" doesn't really encompass the amount of stuff they offer. I camped here for a while outside with my computer between business meetings with a late and a cookie...but I ate the cookie before I took a picture. Wasn't the best coffee of my life, but I would rather this than the Starbucks or Dunkin around the corner. Inside has vert limited seating. It says they have free wifi, but it didn't work for me. The service team didn't speak good English but I felt like I came to little Havana. Ladies were very sweet and attentive. Beautiful variety of breakfast and lunch menu, so many options of Columbian and Cuban food, empanadas, toquitos, and such a huge variety of desserts - pastries and cakes as individual pieces or the whole cake! The prices are very reasonable. The menu is quite extensive and the variety is beautiful. The store is clean (except in the bathroom). I believe they have 6 locations if not more. I was excited to try out this Pinecrest Bakery (since I haven't been to one in a couple years and I usually go to the one in Pinecrest). The result was disappointing... When we got there, my boyfriend and I were surprised at how cheap the prices were so we were even more excited. We ordered pastelitos, croquetas, a wrap, and a breakfast meal. The pastelitos did NOT taste like pastelitos- the guava paste didn't taste like guava, and the outside "breading" taste sticky and weird. The croqueta was just OKAY. The wrap was apparently decent, the only decent thing The breakfast meal was so bland- the eggs were dry, the tostada had NO butter, the bacon was not good. The only thing I was okay with was the fries, although they could've been crispier. I don't wanna be completely negative either... The service was pretty good. When we walked in the door, the ladies were quick to take our order! Overall I was just disappointed. Despite the large amount of negative reviews about the customer service and language barrier, I wanted to check out Pinecrest Bakery for myself. I got the opportunity today when I was in the area. Here is my SOAPBOX sidebar: It's easy to write a review and nitpick on employees who are trying their best with their skill set, the language barrier, and long lines of people. Also, I think there are people who write and unleash reviews when they are having a bad day. Unfortunately, when a negative review is not justly deserved, not only does it affect the business, but also the employees and the families they provide for. Something is not right when your experience is so bad that you hotly blast it on Yelp, but say nothing to a manager, whose job and pleasure it is to rectify it to your satisfaction so you may have the best possible experience. I say all this because my experience at Pinecrest Bakery today was TOP notch and I couldn't identify with the negative reviews. There was quite a line of locals residents, which is always a GOOD sign btw, when I arrived on Saturday morning....and with the deli counter style number system they use, we placed our order in under five minutes. Not only that, but the ladies behind the counter were nice but efficient, considering they had quite a crowd, they kept it moving quickly and stayed away from small talk. The customers were casual and friendly, laughing and eavesdropping into my husband and my conversation, giving us their top Pinecrest Bakery picks. Because of that, I ordered the large size croquetas and as a croqueta fanatic, I can proclaim that these little tasty powerhouses, which are seasoned and prepared in house, rank high among the best croquetas I have ever had. Pan con mantequilla was standard and that is a good thing, very tasty. Everything else we ordered was delicious and served with a terrific price point. Evidenced by the large number of locals that pack this place out, who mostly speak Spanish and don't particularly write Yelp reviews, they prove that at this bakery, they are doing something right. I'm really surprised at the low ratings, the only thing this place is missing is a drive thru! Growing up Cuban and having been to just about every bakery in Miami I can tell you that they all share the same struggle, the food is so good it gets packed and its takes a couple more minutes to get your stuff. It's really not a crisis... I love how a line at major popular coffee shop is trendy but a line at a cuban bakery is all of the sudden socially unacceptable. Downshift a few gears and take in the smells of sugar goodness while you wait. Let's get to whats important, the food. Their coffee rocks, cafe con leche just like my mom used to make it. Their freshly squeezed OJ is to die for. Croquetas de la case are double the size of the regular ones and are very good. Their variety in croquetas and empanadas is great, different fillings for each and the empanadas are available baked or fried. The pastelitos are out of control good. I love that they have assorted pastellito trays (guava, cheese and meat) ready to go, it makes bringing them to the office a breeze to share. I've picked up a couple of cakes from here and they have all been fresh and delish, from the traditional cuban cake to a chocolate dome cake, (yum, really) .. but wait there is more. They have an entire menu of sandwiches that are delicious, I usually have the steak sandwich and end up taking half it home for dinner. They also have a couple of sandwiches already made in the morning for those on the go. I have been coming to this Pinecress Bakery in 66 & S Dixie Hwy for over a year. Always order the combo sol/ pastellito & sm coffee (which is on the menu combo) My surprise one day, when I went to get my usual combo, the manager stated, she can give me my combo PLUS I have to buy the other combo sabor which is sandwich/chips & drinks... I explain I only wanted breakfast and the conversation escalated pretty high as she refuse to give me the -- COMBO SOL which is in the menu.. However, I went to another Pinecress location in South Miami, and I was happy to say, they provided my special combo and stated all Pinecress has the same combo. Pinecrest Bakery has always been my place of choice for coffee, breakfast and great costumer service. I've been coming to this specific location (since its right by my job) for the past 2 years. This week i was there 2 times and both times were extremely disappointing...NOT because of the food, but the COSTUMER SERVICE. Unluckily both times I was helped by a rude lady named Lupe. First time I assumed she was maybe just having a bad day, it happens.... but after my experience today I realized she's just careless when it comes to the way she treats costumers, to the point that even the person behind me pointed out her nasty attitude. The young lady behind the counter was very rude to my wife and I. The other lady tried to help us, but the younger lady kept arguing with her to just let us go.
