Lorena does a nice job shaping my nails (soft square) and the dazzle dry manicures last as expected. Normally I can get 3 weeks. I give her a 4/5 rating. This manicure I give a 2. I find they aren't as thorough working on your nailbed, cutlicle and surrounded skin cleanup compared to other salons. Yes my skin was dry bc it was mid March but to look this bad when I got home? Unacceptable. I couldn't have it redone before leaving town (spring break). Admittedly, I gave my first review because they offered a discount for it. Unfortunately, I had to update this review to better reflect my experience. They did a good job and were efficient, but they were too efficient. They started doing my finger rails while I was in the pedicure chair. I hate that. It takes away from the experience of both of them making both harder to enjoy. Yes, like other people have said, the color selection is limited. I got a no chip manicure and a pedicure on a Wednesday evening before leaving town, but by Saturday morning the no chip manicure had started chipping. I have never had a no chip manicure chip before. Ever. A few days later it was even more chipped. Since I was out of town, I could not go back either. One week later, three fingers on one hand were chipping. Usually a no chip manicure lasts me at least 2 weeks, but this one only lasted a few days. read more

I used to go to this salon when I lived in town 10 years ago. On a recent visit to Park Ridge I thought I'd treat myself to a pedi while I had some extra time. I expected it would be as good as I remembered. Not only was it the worst pedicure I've ever had, she was finished in 30 minutes for spa service pedi, and it cost me $35! The nail trim left a notch which she didn't bother to even off. And the polish is not smooth. I live in Los Angeles where my usual spa pedi costs $24 and you get a relaxing calf and foot massage, body lotion and a hot towel. Stay away from this place. I used to live in the city and there were plenty of Pink salons around. I'm not sure if they are all franchised, but I always liked them. I don't see the "dirty" some people talk about here. The ladies are always super nice and welcoming. It's your usual place to get mania and pedis, plus I love getting the parafine "treatment" on my feet. They feel soft and warm, I love it so much! Price is reasonable and competitive to other nail places. I can only speak for nails as it is the only service I get there. I always walk in, they always treat me very well and make time for me. I have no complaints and this place is always my first choice for nails. The have free WiFi, same sanitizing procedures from other places around. I was looking forward to treating myself to a manicure and pedicure, and wanted to support a local business. I'm sad to say that the service was very upsetting. I was told in no uncertain terms that I had to leave 20 percent tip and nothing less. When asked for something to be redone, mainly my big toe, the person who was doing my nails threw my flip flop on the floor in response. I was a little concerned when I came here on a Saturday and it was empty but for one other customer. There was a very, very small selection of colors compared to every other nail salon I've been to. I asked for a pedicure and a no-chip manicure, which I would consider very routine services, nothing crazy. Even so, they seemed...unsure of what to do with me, looking to me to like lead the way. It was just a weird vibe. There were no matching no-chip/regular polish sets which I've seen at every other salon so I did my best matching on my own with their limited selection. Went in on a whim; needed no chip removal but just wasn't getting around to it. I have an aversion to the scraping that is necessary for the polish removal, but it had to be done. The girl was sweet and polite doing my pedicure. I brought my own pedicure set in. I am goofy about germs. Anyhow, I am pretty sure a pedicure is not supposed to cause pain. My big toe hurts after this pedicure. I have been putting antibiotic on it. Yes, I was due for a pedicure. However, the person doing the pedicure, nipped and nipped at my big toe cuticle. I thought it was going to start bleeding. In addition, I still have calluses. She barely, worked on them. The nail polish does look nice. I saw a sign saying, "free paraffin wax for the feet." For the heels. I did not have that done and it was not offered to me. . It did feel very rushed through and not a thorough job. I will not return. read more

I live a few blocks away and just moved to the area so I decided to try Pinky's out. I went in for a manicure and pedicure and wanted to simply relax as I am six months pregnant. The owner started doing my manicure immediately and the girl did my pedicure at the same time. When I stated I wanted them done separately since I wanted to enjoy the pedicure the owner pretty much told me 'no' because this way was faster. The girl doing my feet did a decent job except for not even getting out my ingrown toenails which is the reason I need to get pedicures in the first place! When I asked her to do that she said she didn't do it because it was not 'natural' and it would hurt my feet! My manicure was horrendous, she didn't cut any of my cuticles and left spots on the sides of my nails. I'm extremely disappointed, it cost $35 and I didn't even bother tipping them at this point. If I have to, I'll simply drive out to Lombard to get my nails done every other week since it is only $30 and they do a much better job and actually listen. Pinky's left me feeling uncomfortable, hardly relaxed, and for lack of a better word, cheated. I'm sad - I wanted to like this place. I bought a groupon for 2 mani/pedis. I paid $35 so it was a great deal. They didn't do a poor job because it was a groupon, I waited til the end to redeem it. I also tipped (generously) BEFORE services were rendered in hopes of a good job. My first time there - I did not make an appointment but I popped my head in and they said a mani/pedi would be no problem. They were about an hour from close and I figured it was a no go but they took me. They should never have taken me if they couldn't commit the time or service. I was put in a pedicure chair right away but had to wait about 25 minutes. I ended up taking my feet out of the water on my own because it went cold. They didn't scrub my feet hard enough to get the dead stuff off my heels & the water was freezing cold so I was not very happy. I asked to warm the water but it wasn't much better. Halfway through my pedicure they started on my nails - basically just a quick file and paint. This was while I was in the pedicure chair - no cuticle soak, nothing. I was unimpressed. My second visit was a tad better than the first (service) but left my nails damaged. I made an appointment this time but still had to wait a long time while walk-ins were taken ahead of me (?). My pedicure was even lighter to the touch than last time but the water was passable. My manicure is what really angered me. I watched the guy put something wonky-looking on my nails and I asked what it was. He told me it was "nail hardener." I thought that was a good thing.... My nails took a long time to grow that junk out. For weeks after my manicure my nails flaked and were yellowed. Even though I saw the negative reviews, I decided to give this place a chance due to the proximity to my new home. I'm really glad I did. It makes me sad and also perplexed that this place has bad reviews. These ladies were so sweet and accommodating and really did a great job on my manicure. It actually makes me suspicious that some are actually fake reviews from a competitor. She took her time, was very careful with every step, gave me really nice thin coats of polish and a really nice hand massage. They were also very considerate. The one time they had to converse quickly while I was in the chair, they spoke quietly in consideration of me and apologized for the interruption after the brief exchange. I also noticed how they treated incoming customers and it was always with a smile and making sure they felt they were being taken care of. I also opted for the 10-minute chair massage while my nails dried and it was surprisingly good. So, in all, I found these women to be deserving of a positive review and I will definitely be returning. I've had everything from $15-$60 manicures and I would rate this at the top of the $15 manicure places. This is my second visit to Pink's. First time was nice mellow and they did a good job. They don't have the massage chairs so when you are at the dryer they give you this great little shoulder rub- super nice. I went today with out a appointment ( I have a newborn, so I can't really plan ahead for these kinds of things- so I take what I can get) and it's Mothers Day. I figured I would be waiting a bit. They got me in right away! Great! They had someone doing my nails as someone was doing my toes -- great in my mind! Except I got shorted... no presoak on the nails- if this was it, not a big deal. She started to hurry towards the end and slopped on the polish, so my fingers are covered. Also my finger nails are really jagged and rough- once I got home I had to clean them up and fix them.The gal doing my toes did a great job. The one thing that grossed me out completely and the reason for this review,is these 2 gals finished with me and when on to the next customer. Sounds normal. They didn't not rinse, clean or get new tools. So my toe & finger funk was carried on to the next customer. I am guessing I got the last persons finger funk.... I am hoping to not get a fungus! I did wash my hands and feet once I got home hoping that I dont' get anything. I have been to other places and they normally get a new set of tool or clean them in the blue stuff. This is gross and unhealthy. I also was shorted the shoulder rub, other customers got it. The crappy part is that I paided & tipped ( $8 on $35- I didn't know I was going to get shorted. I tipped well since they squeezed me in) before they were done with the service. This is normal so you don't ruin your nails pulling out your payment. I tipped well for good service and didn't get it. I will only go back if I have my own tools and they aren't busy... I went here for a manicure and pedicure with a friend the other night. although we called ahead, they didn't seem quite prepared. We were also their last customers, and by the way they rushed us it was pretty clear they wanted to close up. The woman who was at the front (the owner perhaps? I'll call her the owner to avoid calling her "the woman") was very forceful and not friendly at all. My friend goes here pretty often and said the owner is usually friendly... not so on this night, though! Another thing I wasn't super happy about was the fact that by the time I left I think 4 different people had done my nails. The owner started on me, yelled for someone else to come over, only to come back after a few minutes. All the other women seemed friendly. They did a decent job... the polish is neat except for a couple spots on my skin (which wear off quickly, so honestly I'm not too concerned unless the nail itself doesn't look good). When we explained that we made the appointment a week ago, they said they could no longer take care of us (probably because they got about a dozen teenage girls moments before we walked in). I have been going to Pink Nail for almost six years, and it is my favorite nail salon for as long as I can remember, and I have tried MANY nail salons in both the suburbs and city, ranging from $25-$75 for a mani/pedi combo. The women who work there are so sweet and accommodating and do a great job. I live in Park Ridge and love the intimate neighborhood feel. They do get busy on Friday afternoons and Saturdays so I would recommend going during the week or on Sunday if you don't have the patience to wait. read more

My friend who came with me had a regular mani pedi, her cuticles were not really cleaned up either and she said she could have done a better pedicure herself. Her nails chipped within two days. I was a bit concerned by the not so great reviews on Yelp, but I'm glad I took a last minute chance by going out to Park Ridge today. I called this morning at 11 to see if they could take me for a mani/pedi at 12:30. I was asked my name, and told that 12:30 would work. Arriving exactly at 12:30, I was greeted by Mira, who had answered the phone earlier, and was doing my services. She was nice, easy to talk to, especially as I had to ask her not to use latex gloves, due to my severe allergy to latex. I appreciated that she asked if it was alright to use some of their products, as she didn't want me to have an issue. She was quick and efficient, took care pushing my cuticles back, and only trimming excess skin. She give a nice massage, that was a comfortable mid strength. I don't like excessive pressure, so it was perfect. Mira polished my nails in thin coats, they look nice. The key to better lasting nail polish is to make sure that the one you pick out to use is thin in the bottle, if it's too thick in the bottle, it takes forever to dry, and I find it doesn't last as long. I liked the shoulder massage she gave me, as she put me in the drying area, it relaxed the constant tightness I experience at the base of my neck. The other nail technicians weren't talkative, but they all seemed pleasant, and were hard at work. They had a lot of scheduled appointments, but they also took in quite a few walk-ins. Seeing how busy they were, I wasn't surprised that they were focused on their work, instead of making conversation. I was happy with my mani/pedi, as I wasn't expecting it to be The Spa at The Ritz Carlton, yet it wasn't the bad experience had by other Yelpers. read more
