I was driving back from dropping my kids off at school for the day when I saw evidence of a recent car crash on my usual route home. The cars were still there, no one hurt, and there was debris on the road that a guy with a big broom was clearing away as I waited to turn right. I watched him clear the street and thought, well, looks like he got everything, and proceeded to turn and drive over what I assume was a sharp piece of car left on the pavement. Was this smart? No. Was it lazy? Yes. Would I have saved an hour and just under $400 by turning right on a different street? Yes. But hindsight is 20/20, as they say, and at least I was able to limp to Pinky's Automotive with one of my tires flapping dead. Pinky's was great. They were super nice and super fast, and if they pulled anything funny on me, they did a great job of hiding it. They checked my tire first to make sure it couldn't just be patched (I suspected not, as I've gotten that kind of flat before, and it didn't make my tire pressure drop to zero in minutes while the air spewed out with an audible whoosh). Then they found the exact tire I needed and gave me a price, separating out the cost of the tire and labor. It seemed fair (the labor cost was $55, and I would/could not change my own tire for $55), and my car was ready for pickup hours later. I was impressed with Pinky's and would recommend it for your automotive needs, especially if you find yourself with an undriveable car in Hancock Park. With a new car these past few years we fortunately haven't had much reason to go there until my tire warning came on yesterday. My experience was just as good, if not better, than the dealer. Very nice customer service, fast work and an overall great experience. As a girl, sometimes it feels uncomfortable to get automotive work done alone, but everyone here was so nice and professional. We have been taking our family Lexus to Pinky's for years for repairs and maintenance and it's still running like a top at 220,000 miles. I've never had to second guess recommendations because Ralph and Eddie have always been clear and straightforward with us. Went through Pinky's after a collision for repairs (referred out to a body shop they work with) about five years ago and the process with insurance went smoothly and have had no problems since then. At this point I can't imagine trusting anyone else. We've already exceeded the value we expected out of our SUV over the years because of Ralph and the team. They were super honest with me and only charged me for the initial issue; I had to go back a few times for things out of everyone's control and am grateful I wasn't charged extra and the price didn't seem out of the ordinary for the work that needed to be done. This place is the best. I was referred by a friend so I called bc My passenger side window wouldn't go down or up. I called and told Mike, then demonstrated the sounds i thought it made like a crazy person. But sure enough, he said, "oh yeah, broken window regulator" . Brought it in next day and got it back same day. ( Meanwhile, as a formality I called my dealer, explained the same, they said they had to run a full diagnostic first bc they had no idea what it could be from my noises -- ( fair) but they wouldn't even entertain telling me what the cost for the regulator was and had to do their diagnostic check first ( which although would go to the costs was already more costly than Pinky's) and I had to drop it off for the queue which was about 5 days behind. Pinky's is in a convenient location to me and they're almost always available for a same day appointment BUT they've gotten markedly more expensive lately. I could over look that because I've gotten fast and reliable service from them for many years for my Honda. HOWEVER, they've gotten more scammy in the last few years. The mechanics leave a mess in the car, left my tires fully deflated once, and they don't stand by their work. Be prepared to get charged for everything at an exorbitant price and a laundry list of unnecessary "fixes". Going forward I'm only going to the better mechanic up the street or the dealership which always turns out to be cheaper than Pinky's. read more

It was an amazing car but finally I had to let it go. Eddie is always calm and explains all the details and Michael is great too. SCAM. SCAM. SCAM. Tried them because a friend recommended and they are much closer to my home. They tried to charge me $1700 for an oil change and brake repair. They said, your rotors are no good and can't be reconditioned. Strange on a 30k mile vehicle. I declined the repairs. Took the car to my trusted shop and they said my rotors were fine. They didn't even need to be resurfaced. They changed the pads and It was all done. $600 at my trusted shop vs. $1700 this scumbag was trying defraud. CUSTOMER BEWARE. Don't believe me? This place is fantastic. I e-mailed the shop with some questions and Eddie responded within 30 minutes with very helpful information. I was able to bring my car in the same day and my service was done before the estimated time. The best part - the shop went above and beyond and checked my tire pressure and reset my low tie pressure warning light without me needing to ask. All at no additional charge. When I got back in my car, they made sure it was clean and none of my settings (audio, seat position, etc.) were changed. Pinky's is a great place to take your car! They are very knowledgable and most of all they are HONEST! I have been going there for about 8 months. My car is really old so theres always some kind of problem. I got a new radiator and thermostat at Pinkys. A few months later my car was having an issue. I took it to Autozone and their little device said something was wrong with the transmission. I thought the issue would be super expensive! I was preparing for the worst. I took my car to Pinky's and had to leave it overnight. The next day they called me and told me my car was FIXED FREE OF CHARGE! Turns out, my car was leaking transmission fluid...and since they installed my radiator months ago, they took responsibility and fixed the leaky valve or whatever was causing the problem. That's what I call HONEST! Because they could have lied and told me anything and taken all my money! But they didnt! They were honest and truly a lifesaver because I really didn't have money to get my car fixed at the time. I will always go to Pinky's. Any car I have, I will entrust them with it and I will refer them to all my friends. If anyone is looking for a great mechanic in LA, I HIGHLY recommend Pinky's. I went into Pinkys with a starter and idle problem. My bmw 328i (2007) had a rough start up and idle. Once they fixed it, It ended up being some loose plugs on the coils. But they did find a coolant leak which I knew I had issues with. They also switched out my crankshaft sensor. (If damaged it could make your car run like crap) They do not take parts from customers to use because they can't guarantee that your car will work once installed. So let them do their job even if you have to pay a little more then buying your own parts on the cheap. In the end, she runs brand new again. This place is an absolute joke! I brought my car in because the muffler was making a lot of noise! They wanted to charge me $1500 to replace the muffler which was actually a crock of shit! I ended up going to another mechanic on Santa Monica Blvd for a second opinion and that mechanic me his associates told me that there was NOTHING wrong with the muffler and that it did not need to be replaced! He said there was a clip that was missing and that all I needed to do was go to BMW and get the part which cost $11!!!!! Indeed I went to BMW got the part and then the mechanic fixed it for $50!!!!!! I will NEVER EVER go back to Pinky's again! They overcharge you for parts and labor and they don't tell you the truth! If you want an HONEST mechanic that does good work go to Hollywood Discount Muffler & Brakes which is 1/2 block east of Gower! I'm about to get my front brakes done there for $150!!! I had never had major car problems until a few weeks ago. First, some loser broke into my car and broke my hood latch which they helped me fix in no time. Then due to my car overheating, my engine was damaged so I decided to take my car back since the shop is close to my house. I am glad I took my car back to them because I have nothing but great things to say. I am so happy with the work and professionalism towards their customers. They notify you about repairs and update you all the time. They also have an auto texting feature which is also nice. Mike, Eddy are always exceptional as well as Ralf. I just had to take my car in for a faulty tire pressure sensor. They had a mishap and somehow damaged my tire but Mike right away was apologetic and told me was getting me the same brand tire and brand new. No cost to me so I got a sweet deal honestly with a new tire but I feel bad for them. They understand business and how to properly handle problems and treat customer.
