This is my favorite breakfast spot in South Tampa. But don't take my advice, go try it for yourself and do your own research. Obviously I am not the only one that thinks this a South Tampa Gem. The Ambiance: Folks, you can bring your own mug from home and keep it there along with the other chipped random array of awesome mugs that they house for coffee and tea. Does it get any closer to home than that!? It's like having breakfast in your own kitchenette but better! :) It kind of reminds me of this old breakfast spot I used to frequent in NYC every morning. Sounds of vintage blues or jazz echo the walls. The furniture is mismatched and rustic along vintage pictures and other memorabilia is scattered through out. Very cool. The Food: I must start this paragraph with a special that is ran almost every weekend. MEXICAN BACON AND EGGS. It truly is unbelievable and I have adopted it for my own recipe collection at home. It is done with chef Jacob's house cured and smoked pork belly, Corn Tortillas, Over Easy Eggs, Salsa Rojo, Finished with Cojita Cheese (I think) and a plouche of cilantro. Everyone loves it. Ordered it quickly because this one sells like hot cakes. Now...if you are stil hungry order the Jalapeno-Cheese grits..They are freaking awesome. Also, I wanted to say Pinky's has really great coffee-a must for any good breakfast spot. They proudly serve buddy brew-and that rocks as well. The Service: Everyone is very sweet, with a good eye for detail. Tip: Go early for breakfast on the weekend because the line is literally out the door and around the block. Went for a solo breakfast and loved this place. There are a couple if things to be aware of: parking is horrific, the place is small so there will be a wait and the coffee is self-serve! I had the ultimate breakfast sandwich - freaking delish! It was HUGE and perfect in every way. Came with potatoes on the side. I got to go for hubby. Some kind of huevos rancheros on special with smoked pork. He devoured it within seconds! Coffee: at first the coffee situation was weird to me. (They have 4 or 5 selections of very yum coffee.) you grab your own mug, pour a cup and there is an old armoire (of sorts) where you can fix it up with sugar or cream. The menu is awesome. This is hands down the number 1 breakfast restaurant in town. The service is good in the sense that they are not hounding you the whole time. Coffee is self serve, how cool is that! The food is where it's at! The blackstone benedict is amazing if you are into benedict. The make your own frittata is my personal favorite. I cannot tell you how the lunch menu is because I always order the breakfast regardless of the time of day. The staff are hip and remember your name after they see your face a few times! They get an extra star for being open on Thanksgiving, the only Non-Chain breakfast spot in town open on the holiday. Prepare to wait on the weekend, but it's well worth it. Greek fritatta with rosemary potatoes was excellent! They didn't give me much fruit on the side but I didn't mind because the serving of frittata was HUGE and they have me plenty of potatoes. The best part for me was that they really packed the frittata with ingredients. It wasn't one of those egg dishes that is all egg with a touch of veggy, it was really loaded with the good stuff. Yum! Great little local find. Place was PACKED when I arrived, with folks waiting outside. Since I was alone, I sat at the bar which was 1st come. The server said hi almost immediately, and befire I knew it, I had a mimosa sitting in front of me that had just a hint of orange in it. ;) They also sell peach and strawberry mimosas. Very busy, noone ever greeted us, acknowledged us, nothing.. except after 15 minutes a waitress yelled across the establishment, "if you're waiting for a table you must wait outside or at the gift shop next door!" When you first walk in to the left next to their mirror there is a Pepsi sign that says "Service with a smile", It's now 1pm and I haven't seen a smile or my breakfast yet. Meal: Oj watered down. Chorizo wrap was good, however don't expect any fresh salsa, Texas Pete/Red Hot only. Pancakes were too chewy, surprisingly they removed it from our bill. Unfortunately, my friend and I had a very unpleasant experience at Pinkys. I only heard good about that place so I wanted to make my friend's last breakfast memorable. Well...epic fail... First, the staff is uninvinting and extremely cold. You clearly feel like you bother them. Second, the wait was unfair. We waited 15mn just to have our drinks (orange juices). We stated that we were in a rush but the waitress seemed to not care at all... rolling her eyes at us.15mn later, 2 dishes came out of 4. We asked to get it to go because at that point we were already late. They looked at us as if we asked them to grab the moon and looked at each others like we are the biggest pains in the butt. My friend and I look at each others puzzled and start being really really mad. The worst happened. We litterally saw our exact dishes being handed to a table next to us, that came at the very least 10mn after us. THAT WAS IT. We were done and left infuriated. I try to never leave bad reviews because I know how hard owning a business can be. So I mainly write this for the owners to do something about their staff. It was slightly windy and it's a fairly busy street but it was fine. The coffee is self-serve and delicious. Are you a breakfast restaurant trying to jump on the hipster bandwagon? They are. Welcome to Pinky's, where the décor is the epitome of every mom and pop joint you have ever been in. Don't get me wrong, the place is adorable, but the décor is played out its role for the past 10 years since the word "brunch" was coined. Moving on from the décor, the place offers very good coffee, cappuccinos and lattés which is a must for any brunch/breakfast place. It attracts mostly the South Tampa elite crowd that lives in the area and a couple hipsters that were fortunate enough to get a cheap place in the neighborhood. The food is good. Big fan of their eggs benedict and pancake sandwich. Now for their biggest problem: service. A bunch of late 20's adults who seem completely unhappy with their lives and rub that energy right off on you. It takes A LOT for me to complain about service, especially for how long I was in the restaurant biz, but all my experiences there have been bad. Not always because the food took too long, or they forgot my drink, but just the whole atmosphere in that place. One time I ordered a frittata, 30 minutes later I decided to ask where it was. The tall, slightly butch dark haired server responded she did not know as she was walking away from the table. One of the best brunches I've ever had. Seriously. First, the only negatives are the long wait and the lack of parking. Being South Tampa, I expected both so I didn't take a star off for them. We waited over an hour for a table for three but we did make the mistake of going on Mothers Day, so I take partial blame. They have a cute little gift store, Pinky's Annex, next door where you can shop for interesting little trinkets and decor. Pinky's also has a self serve coffee car and a waitress handed out little sausage rolls while we were waiting. You do have the option of snagging a first come, first serve stop at the bar or one of the few outside tables. I would think that would be hard if you have a group of more than two. When we were finally seated we had mimosas and Bloody Mary's while we perused the menu. They were delicious and the bloody Mary's were definitely fresh and not out of a mix. I had the Greek Frittata and it was so delicious! Loaded with lots of olives, veggies, and cheese, it was way more than I could finish. It came with rosemary potatoes that were great. My husband had the stuffed French toast and he loved it. Again, huge portions and cooked just right. My friend had the eggs Benedict and they looked amazing and she loved them. Ugh, with a heavy heart I hate to write this review. This place means so much to me for so many different reasons. I've been going since 2009. I went recently and too much has changed. The food used to blow me away, it's now okay. There aren't many options now (which is okay but I do miss the old menu.) They legit had the best Bloody Mary in town. There are a couple of waitresses that are good, but the last three times I've gone, there is one waitress that is so flat out rude that it's hard for me to sit there and enjoy myself. Her tone is continuously brash and clearly the customer experience is not something she is worried about. I"m surprised this place has so many good reviews. If I could summarize this in one sentence, I'd say this... they aim for a very eclectic/hipster vibe, but it's hard to enjoy when the service is cold and uninviting. I swear, our waitress must have been going through something because one minute she was super nice (pretty fake if you're good at seeing through people), and the next she was rolling her eyes at us. Some guy delivered our food & he was making weird facial expressions the whole time we were there. It kind of bugged me out. We also had a bit of an issue when one of us ordered a frittata, and we didn't realize there was meat in it (vegetarians here). In most establishments they say, oh okay, what would you like instead? Or ask, do you want the same thing without the meat? This lady huffed and puffed at us, even saying, "didn't you see it on the menu?" When we said no, she just starred at us, and finally said she'd get the manager. The weirdo then came back over, and pretty much gave us the same response. We eventually got the food fixed, but the personalities here were just odd & sooooo uninviting. This experience was just terrible, and despite always being in this area, we've never been back, and we never plan on going back. Oh, with all this being said, the food wasn't even that good. This used to be our favorite "treat yo self" spot in Tampa!!!. Let me stress the "used to be". We went there just a day ago and it was awful. We used to go here and spend $60 on 3 people and feel like it was easily worth it. Something my friends has changed here. I used to chef for a living and it's very easy for me to taste the differences in whoever is cooking in a kitchen. This establishment is obviously undergoing some massive overhaul for the worse. On top of the decline in quality of food the servers were also on par with that establishments changes. The server that we had was very short and oddly mean when i asked questions about the decline in quality. Honestly, if you're selling a pizza to me....... Don't tell me it's duck confit . Customers with babies beware! This place is not friendly to parents with infants and strollers or if you request a high chair. Arrived at pinky's and was attempting to enter through the narrow door in the front when the waitress came to assist with opening the second door as my stroller would not fit through the small door, she did so with an attitude which was clearly noticeable. I entered and let her know I had 2 other friends also coming with babies and strollers, she seemed kind of annoyed about it, I suggested we can sit in the back so we won't be in the way, she disregarded what I said and asked me to sit in the front, asked me to fold my stroller to which I said hey I can't my infant is falling asleep right now. Overall the staff was very rude and made it seem like us having our children with us (in strollers and high chair) was inconvenient to them, on multiple occasions they acted like we were in the way and even stated at one point that "if they were busier they wouldn't want us here". It's astonishing how in this day and age a business could be so rude to its customers. Normally when you are bringing a baby out people go out of their way to help you.... but at pinky's they make you feel like you are just in the way. And I just want to add there were only a handful of other customers when we arrived, most of the tables were empty. Won't be returning there are so many friendlier spots in Tampa to have brunch!!! Sad because the food used to be so good! Old review: I really enjoyed this breakfast / brunch spot. Went on a Friday morning and it was very challenging to find parking which could be a deterrent to some. Eventually I parked across the street in cappys lot (there were signs saying that you could) and crossed the street to enter the restaurant. It's small, but it was fairly busy. I was acknowledged by a server / hostess immediately, and shown to a table. When our server came to our table I ordered a coffee to start - and was told it's self serve - and bottomless for 3$ which is pretty awesome, I was able to sample the lighter roast which was hazelnut and vanilla flavored as well as the house blend medium roast; both were great. I could have probably had a third cup after my meal if I had any room left. I ordered the fried egg sandwich with some fruit on the side (you could also get potatoes or grits) and my friend ordered the short stack of pancakes and had strawberries added to them - she could barely finish the 2 they were quite thick and fluffy. Pinky's is a decent breakfast spot. Parking and seating inside are a pain in the ass, which is a huge deterrent for me. The food is good, but nothing that I couldn't make at home. The prices are inflated a bit, but must breakfast joints are. Both my friend and ordered our eggs over easy... They both came out underdone with the albumen still clear and not white. For a breakfast place, you should not be screwing up an over easy egg. Sunny side up is a bit more challenging, but you flip the egg on an over easy egg, so it should be cooked through. Overall it's not bad, but there are some better brunch joints in the area that I'll stick to noshing at. read more

This was incredible; I hadn't experienced such bedlam since Chinese Fire Drills in high school. My mom and her friend are in town and joining us for brunch so I called her to pick us up. I gave her the directions 3 times. "From Channelside it is ONE ROAD. I repeat ONE ROAD all the way here. STAY STRAIGHT...." Fifteen minutes later I got a call that they were lost on Harbour Island. Irritated by their inability to follow ONE ROAD, Betty Bitch came out. Ryan didn't like my tone and handed me a champagne/vodka infused glass of Sangria. Just what I need... Eventually, we were on our way to Pinky's. Rumor has it that Pinky's has the best eggs benedict in all of Tampa. Bold statement Pinky--I have a favorite already and your chances of changing that are slim to none. Pinky's is cute, and I guess the concept of a serve-yourself coffee bar is cute too, but a half hour wait for this middling café? Will I find Tampa's best eggs benedict? As always, we ordered a lot of food: 2 orders of eggs benedict specials, a side of bacon, an oatmeal pancake, home fries, a scone, and two orders of "The Italian" omlettes. As I sat there thinking about the past 15 minutes--my mother and her friend asking for tanning oil, and then ordering the "Italians," I began to wonder if they watch Jersey Shore and are aware of the stereotypes they are putting truth behind. So don't get me wrong- the food was great. The servings were plentiful and everything came out rather fast despite being a "made to order" restaurant. But Pinky's just doesn't do it for me--I'll still give the best eggs (crab cake) benedict award to Pink Flamingo on Davis Island. Ryan doesn't agree with me, but Pink Flamingo's Eggs Crab Benedict is an orgasm of the palate as far as I'm concerned. As always, we were up for a new adventure, and going to Pinky's accomplished that--but I don't think we will be return customers. If it wasn't for the champagne/vodka infused sangria and the fact I wasn't starving, it wouldn't have been worth the wait. Sorry Pinky's. Good breakfast place! One of my favorites. Usually packed on the weekends which can make parking and waiting a problem. There is almost always a wait on Sat/Sun but it usually moves pretty quickly. The servers are running their butts off waiting on everyone with no computer system. Frittatas are great! Veggie is the one I normally go for but there are plenty of meaty options too. The frittatas come with a small side of fruit, bread (get the cuban toast), and choice of side (get the potatoes! fresh and a nice hint of rosemary). The oatmeal pancakes are fabulous too (cinnamon in them, I think). One of the only places I've seen serving oatmeal pancakes. (They have regular pancakes too!) Breakfast burrito, stuffed french toast, and breakfast sandwiches are also big hits. A great place for a breakfast out. Another plus? They are almost always open on holidays but they close early so don't sleep in too much. The are good about updating their Facebook page with daily specials that make your mouth water. My wife ordered the Mexican frittata and couldn't finish it either. Highly recommended, but plan on a wait if you go during peak hours. Also, The tables out front are first come first serve, so if you hover over somebody who's finishing their meal on the patio, you can get the table earlier. I have been meaning to check this place out being a long time Tampa resident. I heard it gets pretty crowded especially on the weekends. I went on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch. No problems it was perfect, I would say maybe 90% of the tables were occupied at a glance (given it is a cozy size). There's a self-serve coffee station near the front area, and a shelf of mugs to choice from. Like your home it is a collections of random mugs (fun concept). As highly recommend, I ordered the pancake sandwich (only $9.00 for a huge portion) it consisted of the following: 2 over-medium eggs, ham, swiss, & cheddar between 2 buttermilk pancakes It was delish!!! It's one of those unique items that combine traditional dishes and turn it into one tasty masterpiece. I am more of a savory person verses sweet, but I can never turn down pancakes! Hence this combo is perfect! On my next visit, I would like to try their other items but tempted to order this again...so good it's hard to imagine not ordering this again. *Tip* They have a small parking area with a sign suggesting more spaces across the street at Cappy's pizza restaurant. I love it here! Went here with four other people, definitely fun for groups. We waited about 20 minutes to be sat, and it was worth it. We drank coffee outside as we waited, nice touch. We all dove head first into the mimosa menu. The flavors were good, and the price was better! Then the food came. I normally eat healthy, but when I saw a pancake egg sandwich, I couldn't resist! I had it with the homemade bacon, definitely the way to go. Everyone else loves their meals as well. 10 mimosas and five entrees came to roughly $100, a great price when you take into account all that we received. The staff was courteous and attentive. This place is still good, but it's definitely degraded in quality. I had the eggs benedict and the eggs were over cooked. The side of fruit was casually thrown on the plate, causing potato bits and hollandaise sauce to cover and ruin it. My kid had a pancake and there was chunks of flour in it. Service was meh. I don't need someone to fake being cheery, but i don't need that aura of misery either. It's a bit early for that. Combine this with the nightmare parking and I'm done. This little diner knocked it out of the park. We stopped here early afternoon on Christmas Eve on our way to a cruise. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. I had a wrap that was the best that I have ever had before. My husband had a Cuban that he said was fabulous. This is a small place with a very hometown feel and friendly atmosphere. The food is very fresh and made to order. Don't be deceived by the quaint atmosphere the food is very good. read more
