Pinky's Survival Guide: (2 Stars) The product is beautiful. We really enjoy the atmosphere created by these french doors. Wonderful addition to our redesigned kitchen. (-1 Star) Pinky's suggests that it's easy to install their doors yourself. They offer a video on their website. After speaking with a door professional, this is a clever way for Pinky's to be a retail company versus hiring contractors. If you watch the tutorial video -- it's not that easy for an average citizen to put it together. Also just to further assist you, Pinky's does not sell hardware with their doors! So you have to also order this hardware (screws, locks, handled) separately, which costed us an additional $600). (-2 Stars) Horrible Return Policy. Be sure to get a professional to measure before ordering. If you get it wrong, they will ask for a stocking fee (25% of the door price, which for us was over 1,000 dollars). Plus, at least 800 dollars for shipping it back. Customer service also declined any coverage for any exchanges. They also said it's just best to resell the door yourself, but get this -- who's going to buy a customizable door for thousands of dollars near you? An exciting project became quite a financial burden, but my partner and I found a way to make it work despite the financial pitfall only because we had additional money to do so. I have been planning to buy a particular door for a few months. I finally decided to take the plunge and the system said error upon process. I called Pinky's and asked if I could complete my order over the phone and was rudely told no and it must be my credit card or that I did not enter my address correctly. I called my bank and there was no rejected charge, checked my address and it was fine. Tried again, nada. Called back and once again was rudely told I am out of luck. I have to recommend Arash (Pinky's) and David Esparza (installer). I ordered our doors with a Baldwin Keyless entry lock already in hand. The blue prints came in and I approved them figuring that the person who designed the door took that into consideration. Well the doors came in with the wrong glass and no way to put a keyless entry on in. David Esparza installed the door hoping that a solution could be found. David and his team were extremely professional and a delight to work with. Well, the doors were just not right. Arash was incredibly helpful and he could not find a keyless entry that would work on the doors. He finally allowed us to order new doors with the correct design and windows that we had ordered in the first place. It took 5 months waiting, but lo and behold we got notification the doors or in on last Saturday. I called David Esparza and he picked up the doors and got them installed on Wednesday. David is a fantastic installer. From the beginning I had told David and Arash there have been many neighbors asking where we got our doors, but because of the big mishap, I would not give there names out. The day David Esparza installed the correct door, he was already measuring a neighbors house to put in an order for doors. Although there were mistakes made on ordering our beautiful Iron door, Everyone at Pinky's and David Esparza did their best to make the situation right. When your contractor tells you the door you bought is too big, you freak out for 5 seconds until he assures you it is a fixable error. Issac and Gustavo had to cut our doorframe larger and reframe the doorway. They worked non-stop for six hours to complete the job. Their knowledge and experience of the installation process of this 350lb door, was very apparent as they worked very hard to make sure the door was installed correctly and precisely. The doors were of good quality. Delivered within the quoted time. I spoke with them in person to get help building our dream doors. They sent me a draft with exactly what I needed. I verified with the builder who mentioned we needed a slightly different size to match the current plans. So I selected the same door we were quoted online and we adjusted the size. Black was the default color selected which was exactly what we wanted. When I placed the order, I sent the order confirmation to the rep I was dealing with to ensure what I ordered was what we had spoke about, minus the dimension change. The confirmation that came through was a typical generic email that order was placed and an order number. But nothing in regards to price or what I ordered. Apparently the other email went to spam which showed bronze as the color ordered. Even though the handle was correct in black. One would think this discrepancy would trigger someone to verify there wasn't an issue from one to the other. Bronze door, black handle, when bronze was also listed in the handles as well. I don't understand how the mix up happened, I do see where I could have caught it after they sent the email showing the bronze. However you would think for a 20k order there would be a customer service follow up walking through verifying the purchase. Thinking this you would be wrong. So I am stuck with a 20k door that also is a nice door I will have to have painted. I do not recommend using them, if you do hope you have no issues, as they will do nothing to remedy it. read more

My wife and I love our new front door. Sweet upgrade well worth the money. The only criticism I have is that the first door was not ordered correctly, and we had to do a "do over". So the entire time it took was about 9 months. It was definitely worth the wait and just a small little snafu. Make sure the measurements are right people! Love the quality of the door, the engineering is well done and the materials are top notch. My installer, Adrian was 110% about customer service. Installed my door super fast and was very neat. We found Pinky's on Yelp by happenstance when we were priced out of finding a solid wood door in the look that we wanted and was looking for alternatives. My preconception of iron doors before Pinky's were those security iron doors that are on the outside of a regular door, and that was definitely not what we wanted. Pinky's website has a wide selection of iron doors, and a few modern options all priced less than half of what we were quoted on a solid wood/fiberglass door, so I made a call to find out more. Turns out that if you can't find exactly what you are looking for in terms of design for your door, Pinkys will custom design a door for you for not that much more! We visited their showroom to make sure that we liked the look and feel of an iron door before we got the process started. Ryan, at Pinky's, worked hard on the design to get exactly what we wanted for our door, and was more than patient with me going through many many many revisions on the door. It was well worth having Rocky from Extol come help us measure and fine tune the design of the door for our space, and finally installing the door. Rocky and his crew work really hard...came afterhours after a job to help us with the measurements. And on the day of the install, worked late into the night to get the beast of the door put in so that we'd have a new front door. Even though the demo/install turned out more difficult than anticipated, Rocky and his guys remained super pleasant and easygoing the whole time. They were conscientious and kept the work areas super clean. Bridget has been our goto post sales service rep and she's been super helpful as well, keeping us updated on the status of our door. The only snafu we ran into, was that we ordered a lockset on their website, but the finish of the lockset does not match the door at all - even though both finishes are called 'oil rubbed bronze'. Just know oil rubbed bronze can mean very different things to different manufacturers. Bridget and Ryan are currently trying to help us to see what can be done with our door handle. Still yet, Pinkys still warrants a five star review. I have to admit we had our reservations about a product that we didn't know much about...but we just love our new door! read more

Great product, great price and great overall experience. We were looking to replace our 1970s double front door. We remodeled our previous house before moving and did some nice home depo replacements. This included the front door with a nice etched glass window. However in our new house, we wanted to go a little higher end, since we're here to stay. This lead us to Pinkys. We came in a couple of times and went through all the doors in stock. Dion and Ryan made this easy and low pressure. We found a door that we had to have, but of course it was a custom piece not normally stocked, so we had to custom order it. We took measurements and placed the order. I was told it was going to take 12-16 weeks. However it only took 10 weeks. We used Pinky's recommended Installer, Rocky at Extol Construction. Basically, I wanted someone who wasn't going to be installing this type of door for the first time. In addition, their price was right inline with everyone else, so it was a no brainer. They picked up and delivered the door. They showed up on time, provided a very white glove type service and got the door installed. We had a few hitches pop up since we went with a larger arch style door, but as noted above, this wasn't their first install, so the issues were quickly dealt with and the door was installed. Tips: Make sure you measure the old door carefully, so you don't get the wrong size. In the alternative, have the installer come and do it for you. If you use Extol for the install, they will pick up the door. The door is very heavy, and it was worth the extra charge to avoid having to pick up the door. Standard doors do not have calcs, which triggered a custom door order, for an additional 2k. I conceded on the 2k additional, but when I went to go and buy it, because it was "custom" they would no longer accept credit cards, when they accept credit cards on "standar" doors. I got a great deal on some of Pinky's cheaper (foreign made) iron doors about a year ago. I did not have the budget for their better American-made doors, but I am happy with what I got. They were totally helpful in every way. They carefully fork-lifted the door parts into my pickup truck (and a full sized pick up truck is barely big enough by the way). Drove the doors down to San Diego and managed to install them by myself. In hindsight, I suggest you get a friend to help, as these are heavy and may crush you to death before you get them properly secured with lag bolts, etc. The frame was very square (proper 90 degree angles all around), and well made. Doors lined up perfectly with the welded on hinges (take the heavy glass panels out, so the doors are lighter as you hang them). There was a little interference between the double doors, but I remedied that with a metal file. A little touch up with flat black spray paint, and you can't see my adjustment. There are large metal tabs drilled for lag bolts in the frame. They will require cutting some squares out of your drywall to get proper alignment and contact with the studs around your doorway opening. Later, I cased the door with 3 1/4" casing (molding). It looks great and totally covers the tabs and drywall cut outs. The doors take standard door hardware. Get a Schlage French door lockset with deadbolt etc, and you are set. If you get long handles, you might need to drill a 3/8 hole for the lower portion of the handle to attach properly. Antique bronze finish for your lock hardware matches nicely with these doors. Everybody who comes to our home comments on these doors. It's one of the best home improvements that I have ever made. Well worth the price and effort. read more

Most of the places we contacted informed us that we would have to special order the iron doors we wanted (14-16 weeks) or only had a few doors styles in stock and in one specific size. We went to pinky's online put in the door size we wanted (we wanted to go bigger and taller) and about 10-15 doors they had in stock ready for pickup came up in a variety of sizes. We even received an added military discount on the door we ordered! Pinky's prices were significantly less than what the other companies had quoted us for iron doors so it was a no brainer to go with them. We received the door 3 days later and it was beautiful! While unwrapping the door we found small scratches on the door from when it was packed at the factory. I contacted Arash at Pinky's and he promptly responded to my email. He gave us two options, bring back the door to get it repaired or we could touch it up ourselves with their custom touch up paint. We decided to do the touch up paint because my wife wanted the door installed ASAP. Arash rushed over the touch up paint via 1 day express and also included their special iron door cleaner free of charge. Arash, even sent us out a free matching door handle of our choice for the inconvenience. Pinky's customer service is second to none and their door quality is outstanding.
