I ate here for the second time last week and had a really bad experience. The first time I ate here was sometime last year and I thought it was great, but this time when I came in I noticed the guy on the grill was placing raw steak on top of the already cooked steak before setting that raw steak on the empty side to cook. I guess to save time? He then placed the already cooked steak which just had the raw steak on top in the tin serving pot thing to take to the check out line. Been to this place only about a hand full of times. The food has a good flavor but I don't not want to imagine how it's made. The meat is storage in a garbage can, flies everywhere, inside are only two tables which are always packed and now they have outside tables, but with the Miami weather and bugs makes it disgusting to sit outside. Not exactly beautiful, but the best Nica food in Miami that I've had so far. You can have an entire meal (gallo pinto w/ carne asada and platanos) for about $6.00.. Their cacao's (drink) are on point. You get tons of food and they always cook the carne asada fresh. By the way, translations for Americans: Carne asada- basically thick pieces of steak. Platanos- Fried Plantains. Cacaos- this drink that basically tastes like chocolate milk, but much better. read more

I'm not really impressed by this place. I actually thought it was going to be an amazing Nicaraguan place. The place always looks full but I guess it's because there are not a lot places to eat around here. The place looks like a little inexpensive cafeteria but it's expensive. The food was bland. I'm not sure how they messed up the gallo pinto and steak but they did. The fried cheese was not even worth the calories. We bought two specials for $28. I think it was expensive for the location yet they are busy almost every night. read more

What a great find this place is! Every city seems to have a couple of these. I read about this place first in the local paper and figured I had to try it. They are known for their carne asada. I went there with my wife and we are a couple of midwestern folks. When we arrived at this little establishment, there was a line out the door and we certainly stood out. There is a menu written on a piece of paper inside, but it is not written in english. I just pointed at the grill that was full of their carna asada. The meal is served in a container with rice and beans and their cole slaw/salad. We initially stopped here to get food to take back to Clewiston as there is not a whole lot of good places to eat there. That steak is some of the best steak that I have ever had. The meat is tender, juicy and very flavorful. It is very well balanced as one flavor does not dominate any other. It was so good that after leaving we turned around and went back to get 2 more to go. Its a good thing that we don't live here otherwise I would be visiting this place a lot. Outstanding carna asada! They do have other food inside the cafateria style location, it all looks great and smelled great, i just don't know what it was. Go for the beef! read more

Best meat from all the Nicaraguan fritangas in the area. Courteous staff and the main staple (Carne Asada) is always available. I usually don't venture into the rest of the menu, simply because I'm so stuck on always ordering the grilled meat. The portions are huge and could feed a couple if you eat small meals. Classic fritanga. Your basic foods: rice, meat, cheese, and salad. Super filling, super delicious. You better know some spanish, and you better know how to call the foods by their proper name. The downtown location is definitely eat and run, but the pembroke pines location, you could sit down and eat. I have to say that this place has always been recommended to me by fellow Nicaraguan friends. They have always hyped how it is the best Fritanga in Miami and this much I had to prove for myself. I was done with a day at the beach and leaving at a heavy time for traffic which is why I decided to break up my trip back to south Miami with a pit stop to Fritanga world. I'm glad I had my gps because I may have gotten lost finding the place as its off a main road. If going with multiple people I would suggest carpooling as I did not see that they had a restaurant. I parked in a street to the right of the building where I had to pay street parking-although I doubt it's enforced I would say just play it safe though. Once I walked up the restaurant has a patio area facing the street where they have a few umbrellas covering a few tables for people to sit and eat outside. Upon entering to the right is the huge fixture displaying food and to the left more tables for seating and directly in front is a separate room that is their bakery/ juice/ drinks/ mini market room. It seemed obvious for me to try the Carne Asada so I ordered a carne asada with maduros because they didn't have tajada with the cheese and Gallo pinto the rice with beans which is typical Nicaraguan food. When I get to the counter I read that there is a $7 minimum on the card which already bothered me just since I'm bothered seeing those signs anywhere. Luckily I didn't have to worry because with tax my meal was $9 and some change. When asked if I wanted anything else I asked the guy for a Cacao -a famous Nicaraguan juice from the cocoa seed. He mentioned to me that I would have to go next door to get one. I pay him then go to the next room for my drink and upon entrance the first thing I see is a sign that there must be a minimum of $10 charged to the card to buy in there -I didn't even try to make it happen I literally walked right out. So the moral of my story is bring cash when you come here in order to not run into hurdles such as mine. What I will say around taste is that this place gets flavor just right!! The meat is juicy tender and taste just like the best places you'd typically find on a street (in the right neighborhood) of Nicaragua. The plantains or maduros in this case taste just like my grandmas -not too greasy and just sweet enough. The gallo pinto was good but I'd say I've tried better in other Fritanga in Miami. The cheese was also good as it was also not greasy which most Nicaraguan places tend to do with their cheese options. Would I go back ...yes. Should you try..yes. Just take cash and that's part of why I left 4 and not 5 stars along with the fact that the place needs renovation as well as maybe a bit more attention to detail in maintenance and cleanliness. read more

Two stars because Nica food is so good, but why do people line up for this average food? They do a decent job of cooking up the Nica classics, but that's it. The food was good but it is a Fritanga which means the food is already prepared. There is so much business that the food is fresh. They are famous for their Carne Asada (grilled meat) and rightfully so. It is moist and flavorful. The seating is almost all outside and relative to their busyness caused most people to take their food to go. I also was not impressed in the way they were refilling emptying food containers.
