20 mins from Tampa airport. Food was average, ambiance is quite serene at 1 pm. Only 2 table occupied. Service was awful, he kept forgetting what he said he'll do. As there is no customer, I asked to see a chef and was told to wait but he/she didn't come out at all. After the follow up, eventually, told that "I'm sorry I can let you in the kitchen". Understanding, it's not a fine dinning and I didnt keen to go into the kitchen. Only want to say hi and thank you to Chef. For me, it wont worth traveling there unless it' on the way. Came here last night after the Xmas Tree lighting at Hyde Park Village. It was about 10 min away. This is a great spot because we don't have to worry about parking. They have their own parking in this plaza. Walked in here around 8:30 PM. They close at 10PM. A lot of places around closed earlier for a Thursday night from my search. It was empty, but people took food to go. We had the place to ourself. Nice and chill. We had two males assist us. One was new and shadowing. They were very nice and helpful. We went with the pad thai chicken and added shrimp. $3 more for shrimp for 5 of them. We asked for sweet and extra saucy and limes. Our dish was so big for both of us and it came out just perfect. We will def keep this in mind bc both of us loved their pad thai. My friend and I were craving Thai food, and so we looked around on Yelp for some of the top rated Thai in the area. Pinto Thai popped up and we decided to give it a try. Booking a reservation online was so easy, and it didn't end up being a busy evening, as it was a Tuesday night, so we could have easily walked in, as well. The parking was easy and upon driving up, I instantly remembered that this location used to be Roux, a great New Orleans inspired restaurant where I used to frequent for brunch. The same tiled ceiling is still in placed but the remaining features of the restaurant have all changed. The space is open and inviting, and the bar at the entrance has been updated. Our server was friendly and helpful, and the menu is lengthy with plenty of great options. I ordered the fried tofu for our starter, and it was perfectly cooked and the dipping sauce was delicious! The tofu was as so plentiful that I ended up taking half the starter home. They definitely give you plenty! For our entrees, I ordered Panang Curry with steamed tofu and my friend ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice. Both dishes came out hot and smelled lovely, and the taste was out of this world! I ordered medium and it was the perfect spice level, and the curry was so flavorful and delicious! It may even be the best Panang Curry I've had in Tampa! read more

I have missed the boat on this one.... it's been here for a couple years now and I didn't even know it. I went in for take out one night and learned how long it had been open and my mouth almost dropped. Where have I been? Well, I finally made it in and ordered something to go. I got the Tum Kha chicken, it was definitely tasty, however, I'm sad that they did not use straw mushrooms. I believe traditionally those are the mushrooms that have always been in my Tum Kha at many other Thai restaurants all over and I feel like this is a cheaper route to go to save them some money (not the customer). Although the rest of the flavor and quality appeared there. I also had the Larb and although I really enjoyed it, the slice of cabbage through the head was useless as I couldn't put the larb ON the cabbage, you had to eat the cabbage by itself, basically - like a piece of bread on the side - but cabbage. Other than those 2 things, I still really liked the flavors and the young man behind the bar was also handling take out orders, he seemed to do it quite seamlessly and stress free. Singapore Noodles are like my all time favorite dish & Pinto Thai did not disappoint. I'm not a big fan of spicy food and usually Singapore noodles are always spicy but I LOVED that their noodles were full of flavor and I didn't even have to ask for a mild version. My partner had the Penang curry and I definitely had a few bites, while it was a big spicy it was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend and I would be back again. Finally got to try Thai food in Tampa, and I'm so glad I did! I got the pad thai with duck, while my partner got the panang duck. The portion sizes are super generous here, and they didn't skimp on the meat either. I absolutely loved the noodles, super creamy with the perfect amount of acidity from the fish sauce. The duck was also amazing, the meat was super tender while the skin was crispy and juicy. I also got to try a sip of the watermelon margarita, and wow! I highly recommend, especially if you like drinks on the sweeter, fruitier side. Staff was super polite, and the food came out quickly. We came on a Saturday at 6 PM expecting it to be busy, but it was actually pretty peaceful inside with not too many people. If you want a quiet date night, this might be the place for you. I visited in 2024. George and his wife and team are like a part of the family and the food is rich in spice, warm, and deliciousness. Update: The owner cared enough to follow up and explained that the problem was unfortunate and apologized. As result, I am amending and elevating the review to 5 star status. Service staff accused me of falsely reporting a missing item in my pickup order. When she checked with the kitchen she found that the order was indeed missing the item I reported. When I returned to the store to retrieve the missing item the waitress said that she did not accuse me of making a false claim. Essentially calling me a LIAR twice. Staff training is required to improve the customer experience. On a separate note, the floors by the bar area are dirty. Tiles and plaster coming away from the walls. The restaurant is beginning to show signs of neglect. The good news. The food was as good as ever. read more

A Silas group from Seasoned Foodies enjoyed a wonderful meal at Pinto Thai restaurant on MacDill Avenue in South Tampa recently. We had about 20 hungry diners and the staff handled everyone flawlessly. They made sure we all felt welcome and appreciated, greeting everyone as we entered the restaurant and escorting everyone to the back room, which we essentially took over. The food was delicious and plentiful. There were lots of to go bags. Nobody wanted to leave unfinished food behind. It was that good . My cousin and her husband were in town from Michigan. They had never had Thai food before and were afraid of the spices. They asked for mild spices and were thrilled with how much they enjoyed it. In fact they liked it so much that they both asked for "doggie bags" for their leftovers. When we got out they realized that they had such a small refrigerator in their camper that they couldn't keep it. My wife and I happily accommodated them and enjoyed their leftovers very much. Essentially we got 4 meals for the price of two. When it came time for the bill, they easily handed separate checks with no up charge for the group size, which some restaurants charge. I was really excited to try this place due to all the great reviews. The menu has many options and the restaurant itself is very cute. I order pad se ew with medium spice m- it was very spicy. All was going well until my fork hit something hard. My first thought was that it was an ice cube. It was a plastic ball broken in half in my dish. The restaurant staff was not very apologetic. Service 3/5: We went during opening week and it was quite busy for a Tuesday night. There was one server managing multiple tables and to-go orders, my impression was they are family owned and slightly under staffed at the moment. We were forgotten a few times. Food review 3.5/5: 1) Blanket shrimps were very bland. They were essentially shrimp wrapped in a spring roll wrapper. I would pass. 2) Tom yum soup was on the sweeter side, slightly thicker broth than what I prefer. Spice level was good and lots of shrimp included. 3) pad Thai : Flavor was there but it was way too wet. Huge portions for dinner. 4) pad see ew: Flavor was very good! I would come back for this. It needed a little more char but overall good balance. Overall, there's a few kinks they are working out but I think if they stay authentic to Thai flavors without modifying it for the South Tampa crowd - it will be great.
