Having lived in Jackson Heights, I have frequented the Jackson Hts and the city locations many times. I was so excited to hear Pio Pio was coming to Long Island! I always get the Matador and a pitcher of Red Sangria which is plenty of food for 3 people. This time around we also added an Arroz con Mariscos which is a Peruvian seafood rice. (I wish the Matador came with a bit more yellow rice to share). It was a bit different than other Peruvian restaurants where the texture of the rice was creamier and I believe they melted some cheese into the rice as it was stringy when scooping. It was almost like a risotto. It usually also comes with pickled onions and this one did not (I wish it did, to cut through the slight heaviness). It was delicious just different. There was an older man that was so sweet (not sure if he's the owner or the manager) but every time he saw us looking for our waiter, he came over to assist. Their green sauce is also so good. Pour it on everything!!!(nitpicking here- but the lid on the green sauce made the sauce pour veryyyy slowly making it hard to drown my food in the sauce). We did tell the waiter and he said we could take the top off lol. The food lived up to the other locations and I will definitely be back to dine in and takeout! read more

This place seemed really popular on yelp and I do like Peruvian food so we tried it on a Saturday for lunch. Saturday is the only day they open at 12. During the week they open at 2pm. There is a very small parking lot to the right of the restaurant. Street parking is difficult. We ordered the whole chicken, Tostones and saffron rice and beans. the chicken had great flavor but the white meat was dry. It needed some jus or gravy. Dark meat was great. The rice and beans were great, cooked well. The Tostones need a sprinkle of salt. I loved the decor of the restaurant. Great paintings on the wall. Tables far enough from each other so you don't feel cramped. I loved the combination of brick, wood and yellow paint. The is a 3.5. I can't give it a 4 because the chicken was just to dry. I had to drink a lot of water to get it to go down my throat. Order a 1/4 chicken dark meat you should be fine. read more

The second we pulled into the parking lot the valet was incredible! There was no parking spots available but he accommodated us and asked us to wait while he made space for us. Once he had space he told us where to park. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a wonderful gentleman who told us it would be a few minutes for a table. We said were waiting for two more people & we could wait at the bar until they arrived and he said that would be fine. He also told us he is a bartender and would make drinks for us while we waited. The drinks were fabulous!! Our friends joined us soon after and he came back to check on us. He had our table ready for us. The vibe is so cool and welcoming! Once seated the waiter came over immediately to take out appetizer orders. The appetizers came to the table within 3 minutes, no lie! It was so fast! They took our dinner orders and that food came out crazy fast too! All food was fresh and full of flavor! We were so impressed!! I ordered empanadas, the sangria, avocado salad, tostones, & Camarones Cuszo and it was incredible!!Our wait staff was spectacular! While we dined we saw the wait staff working so hard to make everyone's experience incredible. This was one of the best dining experiences I've had in years. This place overcharged me when i ordered for take out in-person. Told them i wanted rice and beans, which cost $8 (I even pointed at the menu). Unfortunately they charged me for the sides separately, costing $14. There was no receipt in the bag, so I called them to clarify why I was overcharged. Person on the phone said her name was Sophia, and when i later called she said her name was Vanessa... I called her out on it and apparently she goes by two names lol... She gave me Joanna's number (718)-803-8242 to fix the discrepancy. Joanna said to write her an email and it'll take 10 business days for them to come up with a resolution lmao what a joke.... Avocado salad: menu stated mixed greens and I got iceberg lettuce instead and not much avocado and tomato ( cut very thin) doesn't look like the photo that the online menu posts. Paella: menu stated several types of seafood including clams and scallops. Unfortunately I didn't see either and only two mussels. Service was efficient and accommodating. Great ambiance and good service; there were quite a few birthday parties going on that evening. I would just recommend that the sauce be served in non plastic ware - serving the sauces in plastic cups for dine in service seemed unnecessary and detracted from the decor. read more

We are a huge fan of Pio Pio in Queens and were extremely excited to discover they have opened a location on Long Island. We called for a reservation for 4 guest but was told they do not accept any reservations for parties smaller than 8+ guest's. You can imagine our surprise when the first thing that the host ask was ... you guessed it; "do you have a reservation?" After explaining we were told none was accepted when we called earlier in the day, we proceeded to wait for a table determined not to have our night ruined by poorly trained staff member who answered the phone. After 10 minute or so of waiting, watching party after party of 4 get seated, a table that barely fits two people right near the entrance was offered to us. How do we know it can barely fit two people? A quick glance at the same size table seated by two individuals by the window with their plates of food spilling over the edge of the table. Feeling disappointed we ask for a larger table in which the manager replied "it's busy" without the slightest hint of care, courtesy or table manner. As we exited the restaurant, we saw the same table offered to a party of 2 who also refused for an unknown reason. If I had to guess, it is most likely either for its size or close proximately to the door where other patrons will be hovering over you and your food. Bye-o Bye-o read more

So this was my first time coming to this loc in Glencove. The service was great but the chicken had a lil too much seasoning and the green sauce was kind of salty. I've been to two locations in Manhattan which I loved. This loc is big and they have a nice size bar. I will try the Rego park loc next to see if it's a difference.my friend said he loved the fried rice but didn't like the green sauce. read more

The food is excellent. Generous portions of perfectly seasoned fish and meat dishes, potatoes with huancaina (lovely thick Peruvian cream sauce, my favorite). We had the calamari which was crispy and perfect, octopus which was delicious, papa rellena, lomo saltado made with filet mignon, dulce de leche, all wonderful and with leftovers to go home. Sangria is on point and so is the food. We were lucky enough to have this room in the back with a separate table that gives a little more privacy on my second visit here. We actually love Pio Pio and usually receive great service! My coworkers and I love to order from here for lunch too and the staff is pretty accommodating usually. Unfortunately today and a couple other times, the woman working the front wouldn't give extra green sauce on the house when picking up my order. I got a whole chicken with many other sides and when I asked for just an extra green sauce she says 2 for $1 .. after I already paid too. Ridiculous, won't be back for a while. read more
