Got a tip from a friend to check this place out. Took a drive out to Plain City to try Pioneer Pizza out. I was met my a super nice girl (didn't get her name) , they were super busy already. I ordered a medium 38 mm pepperoni, cracker crust and hot honey. FORGOT to order the garlic butter crust. I sat down and watched some basketball in the dining area, they also have a bar area next to it. Not even a doubt that they can accommodate a lot of people. The pizza came out pretty quickly even though they were busy. The pizza was cooked perfectly, the sauce had a great tomato flavor. nice and smooth. They then layered the perfect amount of Grande cheese, then loaded up on Ezzo's pepperoni and then topped it off with a good amount of Hot Honey on top. This was a perfect pizza and the taste. Yummy!!! I did get to talk with John-the Regional Manager while I was there. He said they had been in business since 2019. They emphasize that the customer always comes first. They make their dough fresh every day. Besides the indoor area they have a patio also. A rarity is they have their own delivery drivers, not wanting to have to depend on another company. If you get the opportunity you have to check them out. You won't be disappointed. read more

It was a busy Friday evening and we ordered take-out. We understand that wait times aren't a science and had no problem with waiting for our order. Unfortunately the staff members in the take out area were rude, wouldn't give eye contact, etc. We watched our pizza sit at the end of the oven on the rack for 10 minutes, finally asked if we could get our pizza and pay, 30 minutes after standing in the take-out area. Still no friendly help, just a glare and chaos on who was next in line to pay, it was bad. We finally got our pizza 10 minutes later with a healthy dose of bad attitude. 10 minutes back to our house and it was dead from sitting at the back of the oven. We paid $36 for 2 pizzas to feed 4 and barely ate 1 of the pies. Thats with our two hungry 26 year old sons in the mix. Very disappointing. We had a gift card and finally got to use it. The restaurant is sectioned off into a to-go pickup area, a small dining space, a bar area, and then a large outdoor patio with stage they share with a brewery. We got to try a salad, pizza, chicken wings, and potato skins. The salad and potato skins were so-so. The pizza and chicken wings were delicious! The service was fast for how much we ordered and brought to our table. They have a local lottery dispenser in the bar area, with a jukebox. This is a fun spot to hang out in the Plain City area. read more

This is really good pizza. Not a huge chain. It's good, hometown pizza. Great ingredients. They never skimp. Got the "all the way" pizza and boy was it good. The sausage is to die for. The crust is nice and crispy on the edges. Kind of a hand tossed style. The Italian sun was really good too. Great bread and a good amount of meat and veggies. The dressing was good. After our first choice turned out to be closed, we thought we'd try Pioneer. We went during the college football championship & the place was empty. (Monday night). One waitress, who was kind, but a little slow on service, was the only one in the dining area. The lg. "All the Way" was good, but had so many toppings on it, you could've made a salad with what fell off. Good sauce, crunchy crust, PLENTY of toppings. Price was a little high, but the taste was worth it. Restaurant was nice & had a cool look to it. Stage out back for live music, too. Cool vibe to the place. Overall, I'd say it was okay. Like I said, the pizza had WAY too many toppings on it. Most of which was onion. But it looked like a cool place to hang out for a while. Next time I'll get a Stromboli, though. read more

Located in "downtown" Plain City at the Northwest corner of Chilicothe & 161. We parallel parked on the street in front if the restaurant. The pizza restaurant shares a space with a bar and an adjoining patio. We were directed to sit in the pizza side so tbe other half was not explored. It was pushing 1p0° outside when we entered the artic circle that is pioneer pizza. Two of the four in our party got blankets from the car and wrapped up to ward off frost bite. Im not kidding - dress appropriately. You have been warmed. My pizza was FANTASTIC!. We had the buffalo chicken made with Franks Hot Sauce. It had a nice kick without killing the diner's mouth. My kiddo ordered the stromboli. He selected pepperoni and home made sausage as his fillings. Red sauce was served on the side. I tasted the crust & red sauce. Both were solid but nothing special. Hubs ordered the sweet thin crust pizza with the traditional red sauce with old world pepperoni and banana peppers. The pepperoni was not crispy and did not curl up. Either it was either undercooked or they gave him traditional pepperoni. Finally, I ordered the pizza pictured. The BBQ sauce was excellent. Reminded me if Sweet Bany Ray's. They offer both fresh and canned mushrooms. I'm all about canned and they nailed it with the combination of white & yellow cheese! We both agree the sweet crust was lost. Everyone liked their pizza but I'm the only one that loved their pizza. The menu offered salads, subs, appetizers, speciality pizza, "box" pizza, thin crust, cauliflower crust, and more plus a plethora of topping to choose from in tbe build your own menu. Didn't know what to expect but was very happy with our food. Took a minute to figure out exactly how to get in the place as there is a nice big outdoor area, but I'm not sure Pioneer is part of that. The shop itself was very clean and well kept. A set of doors that looked like they went to the kitchen turned out to be the way to the front counter. Ordered wings, a meatball sub and a salad. Accidentally left my credit card on the counter(thanks to the guy who followed me down the block to return it!). On to the food..... The wing deal got us a bunch of wings for under 10 bucks. The wings were cooked well but just a little too much sauce but easily brushed off. Tasted great and were cooked well. The sub was great meatballs tasted good and loved the sauce. My buddy and I popped in on a Thursday evening. We sat at the bar, and after some confused looks from the barmaid, we got some beers. They don't have a list or beer menu, and most of their coolers don't have glass, so it was a back and forth. Do you have Molson...no....do you have Heineken...no... This went on for some time and we ended up with a Miller Lite and a Michelob Ultra. Fail. Then we ordered a peperoni pizza. It came out hot and fast, but it wasn't anything special. The sauce was bland, and the crust was dry and flavorless. Barely better than a frozen pizza. I'm giving this palce a three because they do have a great location and lots of buzz. They share a large outdoor seating area with The Grainery - apparently they also share an owner - and with a band going it was a nice place to be. Our barmaid was definitely enjoying it, as she was drinking way more than us by spiking her soda. Nice. I wanted to love this place, but left feeling lukewarm. read more

The "Old Fashioned" was legit at Pioneer Pizza!! This was a 12" medium. Sauce was a little tangy, but had a great taste. Crust was crunchy and crispy like Italian bread. If you're close to Plain City, you owe it to yourself to give it a try!! read more

This was our first experience here at Pioneer. We ordered the everything pizza with thin crust and we were happy we could substitute a couple of items for something else without any up-charge or fuss. It was delicious! I would give 5 stars, but the place was kinda untidy (a delivery of supplies were apparently delivered and not put away) and napkins and plates were not provided with the pizza. Since we decided to eat in the bar area you would think that would come out with the pizza. Which also, I wanted to order a draft and no one was on site that could serve a draft. Why have it if you are not going to have staff there that can dispense a draft beer? Even with the annoyance of the above mentioned, I would still return. read more

Basic generic pizza and apps. You can tell not much attention goes into ingredients or quality of food. Buckeye pretzel bites are way over priced for what you get. Stromboli is bland beyond belief. Pizza is just average - dough a little chewy. On top of the low level food - the service is horrible. When we walked in every table was dirty. No servers really. I've always wondered how Plain City can support so many pizza places. Yes, a few come and go, but there are always 4 or 5, and not many other restaurants in town, so PC must really like pizza! When I heard Pizza Villa was closing, I was sad to lose a local joint, but they were my least favorite of the local places anyway. I heard Pioneer Pizza was coming and wanted to try them out. Then I found out the owners are the same as for Monarch in Marysville, which I love, and have another place in Richwood. I came by for lunch on a weekday, and they had several customers already. It's the same setup as Pizza Villa: downstairs, a few tables, clean but not fancy. Order at the counter, and they bring your food to you. I ordered a personal BLT pizza and a sub, figuring I would have leftovers for work. Well, I didn't realize you get a bag of chips with that (one or the other entree, not sure.) Plus they didn't have the box or something for personal pizzas, so they gave me a small. So, I had a ton of leftovers, which is a good thing because it was all good. The pizza crust was great- slightly doughy, crispy, and tasty. Not the kind you leave on the plate. The toppings were fresh- even the tomatoes!- and there was a ton of stuff. So much bacon, good bacon, that I made a mess getting it in my mouth. If you've never had a BLT pizza, try one. Especially if you like BLT sandwiches, it is an amazing blend of flavors, and works very well on pizza. Yes, it's messy, but it's so good. The sub was big, with good bread and good fillings. Service was friendly and fast. The menu is the usual pizza place stuff- pizza, wings, subs, etc. They have whole wheat crust and gluten-free crust, among several other styles. Minuses: meh, the lettuce on the sub was plain iceberg; something tastier would be nice. It's a bit expensive, although considering the quality, and that I had about three meals from one order, it's worth it. Pop is in cans, which can get expensive. Those are minor gripes, though, and since the food is great and the service was too- 5 stars. read more

Delivery was absolutely atrocious yesterday. The food took an hour and 45 minutes to arrive. After two calls and a refund of 40% of my order the food arrived. The stromboli was frozen and thrown around in the box like it was picked over by another family, then thrown back in the box and given to me after sitting outside in the 20 degree weather for an hour. I was actually unsure if i should even attempt to eat it at this point. I threw it in the oven for ten minutes to put some life into it. Very disappointing experience. If delivering food hot, fresh, and presentable is a struggle for your business i suggest you stop delivery services immediately or hire the help you need to make your business shine. read more

Ordered Pizza from Pioneer after not ordering for 2 years, because of management. Took a chance and ordered today at 4:30 so it would be early for my kids. I ordered a large 1/2 pep 1/2 cheese with LIGHT sauce. Pizza came at 5:30 without light sauce, I called them back and informed them that the pizza had heavy sauce, the gentleman on the phone I assume was the owners son, asked rudely what did I want?! I asked for another pizza with light sauce, because heavy sauce makes my kids sick. At 7 my replacement pizza still hadn't arrived so I called and they said they weren't told to make another. I had a pizza delivered back during Covid, once they moved to their downtown new location. My pizza came to me ice cold and the garlic bread is the only reason they are getting a 2 star review (it was also ice cold but tasty at least). I live in Plain City and really don't get the great raves for this pizza. I don't like giving low reviews but when you deliver pizza's like I received, I don't won't others to get the same experience and waste their money!! It is a total individual experience/taste, based on what you like, so this place maybe great for some and not for others!! I prefer a crispy cracker crust, light sauce and yummy cheese topping!! I have had a lot of pizza and this place is definitely one of the best. My daughter has celiac and they did an amazing job accommodating and making her gluten free pizza. New to plain city and HUGE fans - especially of the Stromboli. It's got a crust like a pizza and it's absolutely amazing. The sauce is definitely on the sweet side, so we typically mix it with a more spicy sauce or we get the ranch which is bomb as well. Idk if it's made in house or not but top notch. read more

Came in for the first time around 4pm on a Saturday. Place was empty except for four kids behind the counter. Nobody came out so after more than five minutes asked at the counter about placing an order. Another five minutes somebody comes out. Ordered fries, lasagna and pizza. "Waitress" came out after five minutes and said the cooler was broken so no fries. Twenty minutes later pizza comes. No lasagna. Styrofoam plates and packets of red pepper/parmesan. Another twenty minutes and lasagna came out. At least it came out on a plate with a real fork. Food tasted good but unfortunately service killed it. New owners in an old place bringing family owned back to PC. The first time we went there I thought that their pizza wasn't very good but its proximity to the local library brought my family and I back again and it was so much better the second time around. We ate inside and got a Tuesday special on pizza, life's tater skins, and a two liter and it all rang up under $20 which is way worth it for a family of four. The pizza having just come out of the oven was fresh-a-licious and the loaded skins were good as well. The pizza sauce is a little on the sweet side and the pepperonis curl up into little cups so you get a delicious, greasy bowl of salted goodness. We get the regular crust and that's entirely satisfactory as well. There are plenty of TVs on the walls and it's decorated in the local high school's colors with sports paraphernalia around bringing a lot of local flair in. I can't give this place five stars though because the bathrooms appear to be shared with a terrible upstairs bar but if you come during the day the stench of old beer and cigarettes isn't too overwhelming in the shared hallway area.
