I came in for my first visit and right than and there I trusted them to have 2 implants surgery done on the same day (state of the art dental equipment felt like I was in the future). I could not be happier, that I discovered Broadway Dental and Dental brother team of Dr.'s Jimmy and John Dang! After years and a couple of try's here in Los Angeles, I feel I have found the dentist (s) I've been looking for! I had been feeling as if my previous dentist's were constantly up-selling me; so much, so, that I didn't feel I could trust their recommendations, due to the conflict of interest. With Broadway Dental and the Dang brothers, I felt no sense of that, and felt comfortable and confidant in their assessment, of what I needed. Hallelujah! My just previous experience was the following: X-rays showed a shading on one of my teeth, that had a filling. Previous dental outfit said I needed a root canal and a crown, despite the fact that I felt no pain....I questioned the logic, as I figured that was a leap, as there may have been no infection in the nerve. They wanted about $1600 for the root canal and crown. Dr Dang agreed that this may not be necessary and excavated the tooth first, to see in a root canal would be required. It wasn't. A crown was all that was needed- $500! Additionally, the brothers worked together on me, and it was a pleasure, every step of the way...the least painful novacane shot I've ever received...they had a device that held my mouth open and suctioned at the same time, so I could relax, and the precision of the drilling was noticeable! Dr Dang even sang as he worked! I've never been so relaxed in a dental chair! Normally I'm clenching my hands throughout, but not here. Super nice relatively young guys and very funny. The staff of Eileen, Miriam and Gabby were quite pleasant as well. Either Jimmy or John actually cleaned my teeth, as well. OCD has a home in a dental office, and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Dang was very through with his examination and did a great job of fixing my filling. He listened to all my concerns and even with my tight budget, he and his staff were able to work with me and calmed my fear of going to the dentist.   I typically have a lot anxiety going to the dentist due to the pain, but Dr. Dang was gentle and took the time to explain what he was doing. He really cares about you as a patient and even went so far as to call me days after my new filling to check in on my recovery.  I would recommend him to friends, family and co-workers in the future. read more

Today I got an email from Broadway Dental asking me to write a Yelp review. Well, here it is. Initially I made an appointment through ZocDoc with Dr. Young Kim for a teeth cleaning but never received confirmation. I called the office to confirm before going in, and they had no record of the appointment somehow...so I had to schedule by phone for another day. Dr. Kim wouldn't be in the office, so I opted to see Dr. Sadeghi instead. On ZocDoc I had selected "teeth cleaning" as my reason for visit, but on the phone I was told that they don't do cleanings for first visits. I wonder now if they do this so they can upsell you on unnecessary treatments on your second visit. I went in for my appointment. Despite pre-filling all my forms online through ZocDoc to save time, I had to fill in their paperwork. X-rays were taken by the dental assistant then Dr. Sadeghi took a very quick look at my teeth. In addition to a teeth cleaning, she said I would need to get a laser gum treatment since my gums were bleeding easily. I've never had a single cavity or been told this by a dentist before...but at the time I wanted to do whatever seemed best for my health. She had a strange coldness to her manner. The receptionist had me come sit with her in a closed room to go over paperwork to agree to the gum treatment and cleaning. Altogether the procedures would cost hundreds of dollars with over $400 to be covered by me. She said they require a deposit. I asked, "how much? So 50% of the total or...?" She said "whatever you want! All of it...or $100?" I put down a deposit for the procedure I would be getting the next week - something I would soon regret. It was odd not to have any system to the deposit amount. As I looked over the papers, she spent an unusually long time talking with me about Christmas plans. At the time I: 1) wanted to invest in my health 2) I felt like I shouldn't be suspicious of somebody taking the time to make conversation. After I left, I had an icky feeling despite everybody there seeming "nice" to my face. It felt inauthentic, and I felt deep regret over agreeing to schedule this treatment and putting down a deposit. This whole process reminded me of when I was buying my car and the saleswoman kept trying to upsell me on warranties and all sorts of costly features. After processing the regret and having a dream that night about untrustworthy people putting their gross hands in my mouth, I cancelled the next morning and asked for a refund of my deposit. They said I had to come into the office to sign a refusal sheet. So I did, but that was the nail in the 1-star Yelp review coffin. Overall: I don't trust these people. Their approach felt slimy. I'll definitely be more cautious with dentists in the future. Not going back here. read more

Broadway Dental has a nice spa-like ambiance with great amenities. I never liked getting my x-rays taken because they are so painful and many times the assistant will poke and prod you. However, I didn't have that experience at Broadway Dental. They offered me to get my x-rays with a new machine which didn't require an assistant to say "bite down" every 2 minutes - instead I comfortably stood there while a machine took my x-rays and left to my chair to wait for the practitioner. Dr. John Dang walked me through my x-rays, performed my cleaning, and filled a cavity. He was gentle and thorough with his cleaning and massaged my face throughout the process. Furthermore, the assistant (I believe her name was Aileen) and Dr. Dang continuously asked if I needed to take a break from the cleaning and asked if I was okay. The office had coffee, tea, and lollipops. The office manager was pleasant and professional. As I exited the office and walked to my car, I saw the other practitioner, Dr. Jimmy Dang, assist his elderly patient to the car. I thought that was sweet... They also gave me a free tooth brush - nice touch. read more

Best dentist's ever. Honestly I hadn't gone to the dentist in years and was dreading it. I found Broadway Dental by chance, and I sure got lucky! Both Dr. Jimmy and Dr. John are amazing their personalities compliment each other. The atmosphere is clean, comfortable, and very friendly. It's not a stuffy office or weird silence. There is no hidden fees or unexplained charges. They communicate every step and make sure you understand what your insurance covers and break everything down for you. Then you're given the opportunity to opt out if you want to hold off on a procedure or plan accordingly with zero pressure. No up selling or anything weird like that. It's something I've never experienced and I think it's excellent what they are doing. I just had all four of my wisdom teeth removed and it was much easier than I thought. The office had friendly staff and the Dang brothers were great. They are true professionals. I initially came here for just a check up and cleaning. After taking some xrays and even 360 xrays, I was consulted by Jimmy on what he recommends I should do for a healthy mouth. Extracting my wisdom teeth was one of the things he recommended. He was extremely knowledgeable and provided me with valuable information for me to make my decision. There was no up selling whatsoever. I was lucky we were able to extract all four of my wisdom teeth the same day which would save me another trip. The operation was fast and painless, much easier than I thought it was going to be. Today would be my second day recovering since the extraction and everything is healing pretty fast. Had an appointment for 3:00. At 4:00 I was still sitting in the waiting room. Went up to the counter to inquire what was going on. Was told it'd be another half hour, and that I could come in tomorrow instead. That's very disrespectful of my time. After doing my X-Rays they said that they couldn't tell if I had cavities, but that if I paid for a $600 cleaning procedure that my insurance does not cover, THEN they could tell me if I had cavities. I am on Medicaid! I came for help. Not to be milked. To add insult to injury, the doctor kept trying to sell me orthodontics and emphasizing that my teeth don't look good. The technician Tina was very kind. Everyone else can kick rocks. The doctor has responded to my review with LIES. I went to a different doctor one week later. The new doctor gave me a cleaning, and filled my cavities, and charged my insurance, just like a normal doctor who cares should do. Broadway dental tried to tell me I had to pay out of pocket for these services, and that was not true. These people are not here to help, they're here to make money, even if it's defrauding people on Medicaid. Avoid this place unless you like being treated like a turd. It's a shame that a place like this exists. I have reported them to my insurance as well as the proper overseeing authorities. read more

I had such a wonderful experience here at Broadway Dental! I was in search of a new dentist because it was always a journey trying to set up an appointment with my previous dentist (due to his limited office hours). When I was referred to Dr. Dang, I wasn't sure if I wanted to make the drive to Glendale (from Alhambra) just to see the dentist; but it was totally worth it! It was also very easy to schedule an appointment with their accommodating schedule/office hours. I had my first biennial checkup and cleaning at Broadway Dental with Dr. Dang and he was very attentive to make sure I was comfortable every step of the process. I used to dread going to the dentist because I always come back with extra sensitive gums and cracked/bloody lips, but not anymore! Dr. Dang was gentle and careful in making sure every tooth of mine is sparkly clean! The whole process was painless --from calling in to schedule my appointment to X-rays and getting my teeth cleaned. Truly a pleasant experience-- 1. The staff is incredibly friendly. 2. Cleaning was extremely thorough. It was the best I've had. 3. They're extremely time efficient. While my anesthesia was settling in, they finished my cleaning. Hardly any waiting. 4. I was nervous cause I had a cavity growing under an existing filling, but the whole procedure was completed with ease. 5. The work on my teeth seems to be fine thus far. I don't think the work they do there is bad. I was a little annoyed that at my second to last appointment the dentist was going in between patients and didn't seem to do as thorough a job as she did before. But overall it was fine. It is convenient that they are open till 7pm some days. With all that said, I won't be coming back here. Everyone seems fake nice and overly paternalistic in explaining things to me. My gut instinct says not to come back here and that I was viewed mostly as sales target and not as a patient. I had pre-paid for some services via care credit so I felt like I had to keep coming back to finish up those services. Also my biggest advice is just double checking with your dental insurance about pricing and what they cover, etc before you commit to anything. I got talked into getting some things done and signing up for care credit at my first appointment without looking into as much as I should of. That is my bad of course. Today, I had to take my apprehensive 9 year old on an emergency visit. He had pain along his gum. It turned out to be a baby tooth molar that was already cavity ridden. It had to be removed. With gentle prodding and convincing by the doctor he cooperated. The Dr. Dang did an excellent job of explaining the procedure and extracting the malignant molar. What a Nightmare! I go in to have a tooth pulled, which didn't happen, spent over an 1 hour total sitting in the waiting room. Then directed to a Endodontics office, who after arriving found out didn't take my insurance. Had to find one on my own. Maria was not helpful at all dealing with the situation, when I called her out on failing to assist me she hung up. Then she had someone else try and call to fix her mistake. Maria is a wolf in sheep's clothing. She offers to assist you, and then doesn't deliver. The dentist, Kim that I chatted briefly with seemed nice. She was in and out within 5 minutes. I have had better experiences at the DMV. As you can see from the reply done in poor taste below. I did not go to this dentist for a root canal, as I tried to make aware to the staff, there would have only been about a 10% success rate with the canal. So hell bent on getting my money they neglected to listen and even after writing the comment they still have not heard what I had to say. This is why I was will not refer anyone to them and I also filed a formal complaint to my Insurance. Your team also over extended what they can do to assist customers. THat is not kindness, that is poor management. Change to Glendale Dental Art! So much better. I have had everything handled with zero hiccups. read more

Shady! My first visit was over a year ago when I enrolled in a new HMO plan. Based on my address, Broadway Dental became my provider by default. I was looking forward to it, as they specialize in TMJ services (what I had the most interest in). When I called to make an appointment, I asked if my insurance would be covering the visit. They gave an ambiguous answer. I went in for the appointment anyway and had documentation of what my plan was supposed to cover, but they adamantly said that they only take PPO. Okay, that was fine with me. It would have been easier if they just told me that over the phone when I asked them to check my insurance, but nope. I denied services that day and decided to come back after switching to a PPO plan. Months later after enrolling in a PPO plan, I went in a second time. Before meeting with the dentist for a consultation, I again presented the receptionist with my insurance information and they could not tell me clearly whether it was covered. They lagged the process. When the dentist saw me and I asked about the pricing, she said I would need to see Maria after my visit. The doctor herself was knowledgeable and nice, but of course recommended a really expensive treatment plan regarding my jaw issues (did not know how expensive the plan was until I met with Maria afterwards). It seemed like having a PPO plan changed nothing about the pricing of my treatments. Anyway, I didn't feel right about the process and decided that I needed to think about it aka decline their treatment. I received a bill for $95 dollars for my consultation. Appalled, I called Broadway Dental to inquire why the bill was so high and what my insurance will be covering. At first, the representative I spoke to kept telling me that I was not covered in their plan etc. I had to repeatedly tell them that I have PPO insurance AND THEY WERE MY PROVIDERS BY DEFAULT SO OF COURSE I AM IN THEIR PLAN. Finally after 10 minutes of back and forth, the representative finally relented and accepted that my insurance will cover a portion of my bill. Why do I even have to have this type of conversation? Anyway, I requested that I receive a statement from my insurance company with a claim statement. Months go by and they continue sending me statements, now asking for $58, with nothing from my insurance to back up how they got that number. My insurance is supposed to cover 100% of consultations and at least 50% of other services... $58 is neither of these. I called my insurance company and they agreed that I should have to pay nothing out of pocket because what they billed for (consultation) is completely covered. Maria rudely claimed that I received a different service and that I knew full well what the expenses were and therefore should pay it. As annoying as all this has been, this is the shady part. Saying that I had something else done, but no record of billing my insurance for that? So dishonest. If you have money to burn and want fake smiles and ok service, come here. But watch them turn on you when you have legitimate coverage questions. read more

For a person who hates the dentist, I can say I actually like them here. I've moved around with different dentists a lot because of insurance changes but Broadway Dental is probably the only dental office that has approached my entire mouth's health and examined every single tooth besides the usual x-rays. Although my extensive treatment plan was overwhelming and scary, I actually felt like I could trust they were recommending what was best for me. Tracy also helped me figure out a payment plan that could make it a little more bearable. They also offered me a free teeth whitening which I'm looking forward to getting! Anyway, all my work has been done by Dr. Matian who is really nice and funny! I almost don't dread dental visits now but that anesthesia shot gets me every time. I truly appreciate Dr. Dang who gave me his honest opinion on how it was best to extract my wisdom teeth. My previous dentist tried to up-sell me and convince me to get the extraction done under general anesthesia. Dr. Dang took a look at my panoramic x-ray and said my extractions could simply be done under local anesthesia. This was a relief. The extraction took less than 15 minutes! Went for my first check-up. Wanted to have them be my official dentist but sadly I need crowns and they only have zirconia which aren't covered by most insurance. Most insurance only cover porcelain crowns. If they could have more of a selection and offer both types, that would be great. So I didn't get any major work done, just checkup and teeth cleaning. The dentist seemed pretty fair in letting me know what I needed done vs what teeth were fine, and the office was very upfront about making sure you understood what the costs are before any work gets done. For the cleaning, the dentist did it, which is nice. However previous cleanings I've had done at other places definitely ended with some kind of fluoride foam to your teeth, do cleanings not do that anymore? Seems like cleanings are getting faster and simpler each year lol. The other thing is the assistant and the dentist were chatting it up when he was cleaning my teeth, which is fine I guess since the dentist probably does tons of cleanings and they aren't a hard thing to do, but I've never had any dentist office and any treatment (cleaning or whatever) where they just chatted away while doing work on the patient. It makes you worry a little in the back of your mind if he is able to concentrate well on you the patient and his work, if he's talking about office gossip (without even a pause) while working on your teeth. I have to say, this dental group restored my faith in dentistry. Many people don't like going to the dentist. I LOATHE going to the dentist. I put it off for way too long until I have no choice than to deal with the pain. Well, the time arrived where I was in so much pain I had little choice but to find a dentist. My insurance didn't offer me many options so I visited a few places. I liked the look and feel of Broadway Dental and decided to give them a try. My consultation and first visit went well. Scheduled time for my first appointment and went over insurance info with Tracy, who was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, btw. 1st appointment: I was SO STRESSED. Dr. Kim gently worked on my teeth. She was careful to make sure I wasn't in any pain. Tears rolled down my cheeks during the first 10 minutes as I waited for the inevitable jolt of pain - which never happened. I inwardly fretted until she cheerfully exclaimed, "Okay, we're done! " I couldn't believe it. The subsequent visits were equally uneventful. HALLELUJAH!!!! I love Dr. Kim. She is an expert in her field. Maria, Tracy and staff are courteous and professional. Recently went in for a deep cleaning and it was great! NO PAIN. Thanks to Dr. Kim, I love to floss now. These glowing remarks are things I never imagined saying about a dentist office. I have read other reviews and we are all different with individual outlooks and experiences in life but I can honestly say that this dental office has made a positive impact in my life and I am so grateful!
