I saw an ad for the Cinnamon Cardamom braid on IG. So it peaked my interest and I came on a Saturday afternoon. No wait and the pastry was delicious (I took it home). I've been here a couple times since. And even when I came half an hour before closing the pastries in the case still tasted great! Also, I know everyone reviews the piroshky, but the cabbage rolls are really excellent. Still warm and delicious even after a 15-20min drive home. The cinnamon cardamom braid is also one of my favorite cheat foods now. I usually buy extra if they are available so I can have one in the morning with coffee. And chatting briefly with the staff there makes me feel like I'm talking to a real person, not someone putting on a fake happy customer service rep. I've gone 4-5 times now and had the same types of interactions with multiple staff. I'll definitely be back! read more

Um, wow. How have I not been to this place before? I think I've been discouraged because I'm not a fan of food courts in malls (maybe it has somethin' to do with reminding me of when I worked at the mall at 16), but don't let my mistake fool you, too. This place is noms! I came to Crossroads and needed a quick snack before book shopping at nearby Half Price Books, and found Piroshky Piroshky. The Russian pastries looked yummy, and since I hadn't had one before I asked the employee there if she could give recommendations. She mentioned that there are two different kinds of piroshkys, the ones on the top shelf were flakier and the bottom ones were more dough-y, yet are more authentic. Though I watch my carb-intake because #summerbod, I had to go with the doughier piroshky after she mentioned it was more authentic. And I'm glad I did. I ordered the Beef, Potato and Cheddar Cheese Piroshky and it was way better than I thought. I wanted to only take a few bites, as a snack yet couldn't help myself and ended up eating half of it. The flavor was awesome, just like good ol' comfort food. But the best part of the piroshky was the bread itself. I hate to say but it was incredibly doughy yet crisp on the exterior and liked the cheddar cheese that was melted on top of it. And it was still warm when I was eating it, making it all the more yummy. It was so good, and I would say that the entire piroshky (which I rationed before and after shopping) served as a meal/lunch for me. And I still can't believe it's less than five bucks, like most of the piroshkys there. Unfortunately, summerbod ain't happenin' because this place is must whenever I'm at the Crossroads Mall. I've ordered from here every now and then for 5+ years. I'm no expert on the authenticity but the food I've gotten has always been delicious! My go-to items are the cabbage rolls and split pea soup. The split pea soup I got today was a little watery compared to usual, hopefully it was just a one off, though it tasted fine. The smoked salmon pate and bavarian sausage were good (bavarian sausage is very crispy), but the smoked salmon pate had a lot less flavor than I anticipated (sort of like smoked salmon cream cheese). The cabbage roll had a lot of flavor and was very filling, so I would recommend bavarian sausage or cabbage roll over the smoked salmon pate. Overall, very large portions but a bit heavy. read more

I had their piroshky a long time ago but I don't remember how it tasted. I recently came back for pierogies and was quite pleased. They give you a lot of pierogies for about $8. What a great value! They give you a side of cole slaw and some sour cream as well. The pierogies were heavily sprinkled with paprika, which I guess is not so surprising given Eastern European cuisine. The potato dumplings were quite large and very filling. This plate was carb central and I felt awful after eating the plate, but it was a good meal. The food itself is awesome and really authentic. I mean, that is the same taste that I remember from my childhood. I'd recommend you to try Golubtsy (cabbage roll with meat) or Vareniki (dumplings with potato and sour cream). Don't be confused by the awful pictures in the menu - that's just a poor ad. Of late, I've seen several glowing reviews for piroshkies, so I thought I would try one of these critters today. Most of the Crossroads Piroshky's piroshkies contain cheese, but at lunch today I saw one - beef and onion - that did not, so I ordered it. I also requested a bowl of matzo ball soup. The cost of the piroshky and bowl of soup came out to just less than eight dollars. As the cashier deftly managed to handle a cell phone call and ladling up my soup simultaneously, I looked up and noticed the shelves behind the cashier. On them were several sets of matryoshka dolls (also called babushka or Russian nested dolls). I'd never seen these dolls until I watched Woody Harrelson's very-likable 2008 movie "Transiberian", where the dolls were used to smuggle cocaine. I loved the delicious beef and onion filling in my piroshki. The crust is extremely rich and has a texture strongly resembling either a croissant or pie crust. But I wonder how many dozens of fat grams the piroshki shell contains! Because these piroshkies are so rich, they are not like Lay's potato chips, you will be plenty satisfied eating just one. Well, the cashier called my soup matzo ball, but the "balls" looked like good old-fashioned meatballs to me. However, the matzo ball soup was only fair. In addition to the matzo/meat balls, the soup contained broth, a few sliced carrots and rice, actually lots of rice. It came topped with plenty of parsley. Something in the soup had an old rancid flavor. It wasn't the meatballs, they tasted quite good - so it had to be either the broth or the rice. read more

Chinese New Year's and Valentine's Day falling on the same day yesterday meant that I would be combining two things that usually do not go together. This meant having cupcake with the traditional jai. Jai is a vegetarian monks' dish FYI. And typically CNY is pretty much a meatless day which is kind of lame, except for the fact of all the cash you get. Ha ha. If you are still reading, you are wondering what it has to do with Piroshky Piroshky. Well, I was having jai later in the afternoon and wanted to get something for a light lunch while at Crossroads. So I finally gave in and tried my first piroshky. Eliminating the meat selections from consideration, I decided on the cabbage & mushroom piroshky ($3.59) and a cup of borscht ($3.99). The piroshky was really good. The bread and cabbage combo went well together. Was not expecting much, but very pleased with it. As for the borscht, it was just my second time trying this soup. I did not like it the first time (at a different joint), but Piroshky's version was pretty good. Again, it was the cabbage that seemed to stand out in this dish. I was afraid that it would taste weird, but it turned out to be very hearty which I enjoyed. Piroshky is one of the standout places in the Crossroads food court in Bellevue. read more

Great food! Great service! Taste fresh and amazing I love the beef and cheese piroshky as well as the Pelemeni. The dumplings literally melted in my mouth. I would recommend that dish to ANYONE. The service was great as well, they were extremely friendly and even gave a free dessert to my daughter (who was trying to eat sweets before dinner haha) All the workers were wearing gloves as well as hair nets and masks which I found solace and comfort in. 10/10 read more

I work nearby and honestly, I love stopping by here every so often. You can get a Piroshky for about $5 and it fills a small human (me) very well! I highly recommend the salmon Piroshky or the cabbage and mushroom Piroshky if you want something of medium weight. If you need a really heavy lunch for a long day, get the ones that contain beef and cheese, or potatoes. The people who work there are very nice and it's refreshing to speak to them too! This is honestly the best place in Bellevue to eat. Their food is so fresh and authentic.

The chicken and mushroom with rice piroshky is my favorite. All of the piroshkies are made every other hour, so they are fresh and hot even out of the display case. $4.5-5 per piroshky is a bit on the steep end, but the quality of that fresh baked fluffy crust is unparalleled. I only come here because it is across the street from my apartment. If I lived in Seattle I would much prefer the one at Pike....They're way friendlier and have more options than this one. read more

I hit up Crossroads Mall, and I was prepared to get a slice of pizza or blah sub, but - wait! This is not your normal food court. I had a true moment of joy when I learned I could get a fabulous beef-onion piroshky AND a bowl of borscht (insert hearts here). Admittedly a sucker for all from Eastern Europe, I felt like someone made a food court stop just for me. I was not disappointed. The piroshky was perfect - flaky but slightly greasy, flavorful, filling... And then there was the borscht. I do love that beautiful beet creation. WELL they were truly awful and I don't normally feel like I need to come to Yelp and tell people my thoughts, except for the face that I don't want anyone to be as disappointed as I just was!!! I couldn't even tell what meat was inside, and it tasted bland but then had a bad aftertaste. The consistency was a little gummy. You can tastes the broth have simmer for a long time and feel the tenderness of the chicken, all the ingredients just mesh together from being cooked with care and thought. Pierogies!! I'm Polish, and these are Russian-style, which IS different, but that's still OK. Unfortunately, I had a bummer experience there Saturday night. In fact, I got NOTHING that I wanted. I ordered: Mashed potato and onion pierogies, no sour cream, sauerkraut. She pushed cherry pierogies on me (a dessert food) and I agreed to try ONE to humor her, and we went back and forth, with me saying about three times that I would take ONE cherry pierogie, just to TRY it, but that I really wanted mashed potato pierogies. I got: A plate of cherry pierogies with sour cream, cabbage salad. No mashed potato pierogies at all. I was so bummed out. My daughter agreed that I'd been perfectly clear. My fiance was not happy that I was not happy. He ended up ordering another order, just as I had. It was right, except that she still put sour cream on top even though we asked for none. (I hate sour cream). Also, I didn't like their sauerkraut. It was way too sweet, and too soft, not crunchy or tart. I guess maybe Russian kraut is different from Polish/German? All in all, I'm bummed out because I LOVE this food when it's made right. I am, after all, half Polish, and I grew up eating these foods in homemade form (and begging for them). I have to give two stars; if its's what you wanted, you will like it, but to have problems with two orders in a row is fairly inexcusable to me. I must defend this place from Polish misinformation. First off how can you be a lover of Eastern European or Russian food and hate sour cream? This is not possible and you are immediately discounted for silly comments like that!!! That said the borscht is delish and for like $6 you can get a awesome piroshky and a screamin bowl of either borscht or matzo ball soup (with chicken or with out). What a deal! They also have great pierogies. The cold hard stare from the babushka comes free!!! Classic!! Sneak bomb tip: They have what they call the " sample plate" You have to ask for it. Being a resident of fake America I usually turn up my nose at the idea of eating in a 'food court' but who ever heard of Russian food in a court? Of course I'll try it. Going with the cabbage rolls was a wise move. Two good sized rolls filled with, I think, beef, turkey, rice, and spice. On the side was some boiled potato and a salad of cabbage with a slightly sweet dressing. The food was warm, comforting, and tasty in that un-spiced but hearty way that eastern European food usually is. I was very happy with the meal ($8) especially when it meant I didn't have to eat crappy Chinese food. I'll be back! read more
