Have had this place on my "must try" list for a several years.. unfortunately such a let down. We wondered why it was so empty (one other table) at lunch time. We love the founders main restaurant (Dahl & de'Lucca (sp?) and dine there most times we get to Sedona & love it. We have recommended that place dozens of times. THIS PLACE: strange decor, sat at the bar, great friendly bartender & great customer service. We ordered meatballs & mushroom pizza to share for starters for 3... then decided to go elsewhere. The meatballs were ordered with mozzarella (as we were told all their cheeses/ingredients are fresh & imported) - our server had to inform us the chef said "No" to cheese on our meatballs. To be clear- we asked again, and assured him we are fine with an extra charge- again, the chef refused. Flat out refused. Wow. The Food : Meatballs are very small and the bowl looked like a bowl of tomato soup with meatballs ... tasted like bottled sauce & frozen little meatballs. The dish lacked any flavor- like school cafeteria food. Pizza: looked & smelled excellent- crust crispy & chewy, perfectly cooked- but barely any taste. Very slight truffle auroma & taste. Subtle mushroom flavors. Salt did help a little but we opted to go somewhere else for our main meal after the disappointing start. We had to request fresh Parmesan as the little powdered kind was also flavorless/grocery store level either stale from sitting out on the tables or not "imported" as we were told. One question remains... Are patrons allowed to put Parmesan on the meatball soup.. or is that also forbidden? We won't be back and we will NOT be recommending. "Piece of Lisa" was a term of endearment for Chef Lisa Dahl, and now she brings that love & joy to the Village of Oak Creek through Pisa Lisa. Their pizza is fabulous and honestly takes me back to Italy. Her food made for a robust lunch at a fair price for Oak Creek. We did takeout so we could enjoy the stunning views in the privacy of our resort, but the restaurant is quant with an upbeat atmosphere. This was a nice little sit down pizza spot within walking distance of my hotel, which was a huge plus. It felt great not having to drive far for good food. All of their pizzas come in one size- 14 inches, which was perfect for sharing. We came in as a party of two and ordered the Au Sauvage (their carnivore pizza) along with the arugula salad, Rucola. Both were great. The pizza was thin with a nice crisp, and the fennel sausage was especially tasty and added a lot of flavor. That said, I did find the pizza slightly on the salty side from pepperoni alone. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot and would come back again. Excellent pizza selection that they made fresh in a wood burning oven. Our waiter was very nice and helpful with our ordering. He also refilled my water bottle and he didn't quite have enough to fill it all the way. I said it was fine but he went and got more water to fill it up all the way, which I appreciated. They have a nice outdoor seating space as well as indoor with multiple TV's, a bar, and a section for take out/pick up only. We sat out on the patio and ordered a delicious Margherita pizza and shared a salad called Extremo- I love olives so this was great for me! It had plenty of Italian dressing on it. The server was great, he never let our glass get half empty, it was always full. The server also talked us into Gelato, which flavors are subject to change bi-weekly. I had Madagascar vanilla bean and Lemon sorbet Gelato combined in a cup. It was so good and refreshing to finish off our hike day. We arrived to the hostess stand and were not acknowledged for several minutes until I asked if there was a hostess? We got seated and from there the service was terrible. Barely sat and they asked us to order - we felt rushed from appetizers to pizza. They never cleared the plates after appetizers until we stacked them because there was to put the 3 pizzas !
